Chapter 396: An Import of Valuable Crops

Just like what Elaina promised, she scolded both of her sons but in a calm way and not too harshly than the two thought they would get. Sure, Elaina is pretty angry but she didn’t lash out and made the two boys regret their actions deeply.

Instead, she only gave them punishment of doing more chores than normally they usually do. The reason Elaina is doing this is because the kids have already suffered from the Land Fang themselves. They have already learned a lot of the pain in one go.

The kids understood this and happily accepted the punishment, relieved that it wasn’t too harsh as they thought it would be. But now that they have experienced some battle themselves, Elaina told them that they will now be joining in thr training practices that Princess Tabatha is currently undertaking.

This also resulted in Elaina going to the mines and ccommissioned the Dwarves there to create a sword similar to her sword for her two sons as what the two wished to have as a way to stop them from stealing her sword again.

"Are you sure about this? You just said that your kids are still almost 7 years old while the other is about to go 6, aren’t they still too young for them to handle swords, Elaina?" the Chief Dwarf asked while hammering the mythril that he is going to forge as a sword soon.

"It is fine to have them have a big sword. Although they are still not strong enough to wield them, by the time they are ready to use them, they will be strong enough to swing it normally by then," Elaina confidently said.

"Well, if that is your wish then so be it. So what is your payment for us to forge these swords? As much as I wanted to do it for free, there isn’t much you have done for us that we would warrant us to forge something real good like our forged weapons."

"I already know that money is out of the question as you guys don’t even leave this mines. Money would just be another tin of useless thing for you."

"Aye, save your money. Even if you pay us gold, what would we even do about that? A gold is just another mineral we mine here. We got plenty of that in here that we can make tons of coins from that and no one would complain. Just pay me with another thing instead."

Elaina tilted her head for a bit then she had an idea.

"Ah, how about food like vegetables and fruits? I will also add fish and meat if you want them as well."

The Chief’s ears seems to perk up and he look to the horizon even though it would stop straight to the cave’s ceiling and seems to be reminiscing things that he experienced in the past.

"Food huh? Considering how hard it is to have vegetables in here, we usually only have the diet of mushrooms most of the time. We do have some greenhouses created to grow vegetables but because they are not that efficient compared to growing them in the surface, its hard to have a good harvest and most would not properlt grow and would be a lot smaller than regular counterparts. Alright, if you can give me a crate of various vegetables and fruits for each weapon, then I will accept."

"Alright, you got it."

"Come back here 2 weeks in the surface to ensure that the weapon I will forge will become similar if not close enough to your weapon. I may not be able to match the durability and quality of your weapon, it doesn’t mean my weapons are that easy to scoff at."

"Got it, I will be waiting for the good news then."

Elaina left the mines to gather the harvest she will be giving the Chief to get the commissioned items be paid in full. Compared to regular blacksmiths, she have saved a lot of expenses from just trading weapons crafted by a dwarf with crates of produce as a trade offer. Of course, for the dwarves, since food is a lot harder to come by, it is much more valuable than money.

And for a farmer like Elaina, food is something she has no shortage of. Since she always have crops that always grow produce regardless of the day, she can procure crops daily and it is enough to fill a crate for the next few days.

Until the weapons are done, Elaina will focus on training her sons to get them disciplined in the usage of weapons.

"An import?" Rakkunzansa frowned after he saw the box labeled with big "Import" words.

"Yes. It seems they are giving us an import now since we have supplied them some of our Boss’s produce and new crops that they are very happy to share the produce as well, saying that thanks to those new stuff we have imported to them, a few problems has been resolved completely and as a repayment, they gave us crates of foreign saplings and seeds alongside with sample fruits to show what will grow on each," Randolph then took out a football looking fruit and a pouch full of ground powder of some sort.

Rakkunzansa smelled the powder and his eyes lit up.

"Coffee! Wait, does that mean...?" He quickly lift up the crate and he saw a bag of coffee seeds ready for planting and a few saplings on the corner, which is likely the saplings the fruit that Randolph is holding grows from.

Coffee is considered as one of the most well sought out beverage by many people especially for people who has to work in graveyard shift or either they have to work all night and needed to stay awake.

The only problem is that Coffee is not as easy to acquire and according to some experts, only a few continents around the world have been capable of growing the plant easily without problem. Its not a big problem to grow, however, the plant is very sensitive to slight changes in weather and temperature so when it suddenly plunges into a slight change, there is a big chance it will die.(A/N: Real coffee plants are not like this, so don’t take it seriously)

"If I remember correctly, they call this in other lands as Coffee Berry. I am not an expert in coffee but I can’t deny it is very useful to keep oneself awake in times of night shift works back in the days when things are so hectic, work is neverending," Randolph remembers his past work environment before Elaina came and still feels the shivers.

"If Boss is successful in growing this, we can also afford to sell coffee grounds to other people as well and we can now promote local coffee without the need to keep on competing with others for coffee supply," Rakkunzansa nodded in satisfaction.

"What about this one?" Randolph asked while he shakes the fruit that looks like a football but in red color.

"I am not familiar with this one? Why not ask Miss Mei about it? She seems to know a few things about these kinds of product. Have you tried doing so?"

"Well, I already asked her about it but even her has not seen that fruit before," Randolph answered.

The two glance at the fruit and Randolph smells the fruit for a bit.

"It smells kinda sweet though. Kinda like mango or lychee, can’t properly describe it."

Rakkunzansa also smells it and he nodded. "More like tropical fruits. I can name a few of them that seems to smell reminiscent of this fruit. Very interesting."

"So...what should we do about this?" Randolph asked.

"What else? Send it to the boss. If someone knows what to do with that, then there’s no other person right for the job other than her. Go deliver that to her farm. She is quite busy nowadays preparing for the upcoming war and keeping in stock so that we won’t have problem with supplies in case things gets hectic."

By the time Elaina arrived at home, Yona welcomes her back.

"Miss Elaina, Randolph seems to have a package for you. An import from one of the customers that are saying thanks for the new plants you imported to them last time."

"An import? They shouldn’t have bothered. I would have been happy to provide without receiving this much gratitude."

"Well, it seems that they are important stuff. You should take a look. I put it over at the porch."

"Thanks Yona."

After Yona returns to her business, Elaina approaches the porch and spotted the Harvest Goddess currently rummaging the said crate.

"Harvest Goddess? What are you doing?" Elaina frowned seeing the Harvest Goddess seems to act like a raccoon while taking the contents of thr crate.

"Look Elaina! I didn’t expect someone would be sending us some valuable items that even the God of Farming has not provided to you!" she then revealed the red fruit before Elaina. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

For others, the fruit doesn’t look familiar and would treat it as a regular fruit, but for Elaina who have encountered various cultures and food, she obviously knows what that fruit was.

"CACAO!"
