A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 395: Recuperation

Arthur couldn’t believe his eyes when his Mother casually fought the beast that almost beat them earlier without even breaking a sweat. Her movements were so fast that even though he was not blinking to fully see what his mother did, he couldn’t even follow her movements. It was like she just did something blur and the carnage happens.

The beast is already screaming for mercy and yet his mother didn’t bother to care about it and casually ended the life of the beast in one stroke of her sword. It was a quick execution but even with that quick draw of her sword, she made sure to make the beast suffer for a bit by cutting off its limbs and only leaving one of the front paws intact. The rest are severed.

"So what Uncle Troy was telling is not the whole truth? Mother just casually obliterated the monster with ease and she didn’t even think twice of that!" Raye was so amazed, he was basically beaming.

"I heard things from Mother as well on how she defended us back then when those bad guys from our homeland tried to take me back home to become the sacrifice or something and Miss Elaina decided to help and defended us like we are part of her family. It isn’t too surprising to be honest," Mier said, shrugging.

"Well, can you blame us? With how most of the tales that we have learned seemed so impossible and far-fetched to be a real event that happened. But seeing Mother in action today, I can say for certain that they are not just exaggerating, perhaps they even downplayed a bit of the history to make it more easy to digest and easy to describe even," Raye defended himself and Arthur.

As for Arthur, he does think that some of the told events are downplayed for quite a bit now that he have seen the capability of their Mother.

With Elaina slaying the Land Fang, the situation has finally calmed down. Shardu approached the dead body of the Land Fang, who still has its lingering spirit remain for a bit.

"So, did you finally understand what I meant when I finally found someone worth staying loyal to? Well, now you tasted her blade, and I guess you wouldn’t have the same luxury as me makes it unfortunate you won’t understand my sentiments and would remain as a beast that will always be feared by humans."

The Land Fang’s severed head looked at Shardu for one last time before the remaining energy that kept it alive for that long has finally dissipated. One of the candidates of the Forest Ruler has finally been eliminated, not by the other candidates but due to its negligence and thirst for power.

With the death of the Land Fang, it finally reverted to its original size, nullifying the effects of Gigantification. The body was just as big as regular Shardu so Elaina doesn’t consider it as a big harvest. If its body remained big even after it was killed, it would have been a big boon but now? Not too much. After ensuring that Shardu has given it enough respect, Elaina took the carcass inside the storage bag, cleaning up the surroundings and only leaving the surrounding area fully broken by the attacks earlier.

Before leaving, she first examined the surroundings and ensured that there are no more lurking enemies nearby before she concluded that everything is fine. Elaina returned to the girls and boys to check up on the boys’ conditions.

"How is Raye and Arthur doing, girls?" Elaina asked as she wiped off the blood on her hands and her face.

"Good work there, Mom. The situation has finally been stable and Raye is finally out of the critical condition. Arthur on the other hand will have to be healed at home to heal his broken bones since our potions aren’t the strong kind to fully repair them and Mier and Layla’s healing abilities are not that advanced just yet."

"Good to know. Anyways, Arthur, Raye? We will talk again later but for now, you two will have to recuperate. Just because you two are injured doesn’t mean I will stop the two of you from mentioning the reason why you two became like this."

The two involuntarily gulped hearing that. Although they understand her anger at them, both of them wishes that their mother wouldn’t be so grumpy even after that.

Since the two kids are not in critical condition, Elaina decided to not let them go home just yet and let them join the trip around the forest with the girls to forage and potentially hunt as well. She succeeded to let the two boys experience the pain of being powerless in the forest. Although both Arthur and Raye met an impossible enemy today, Elaina knew that the two have finally understood how necessary it is for them to keep themselves strong. Although she is tempted to let them try the same thing that her grandparents did to her back when she was still a child, they aren’t as tenacious as her back then and even then, she didn’t want them to experience something like that so she decided that instead of letting them experience hell like that, they will have to regularly fight for themselves while also receiving guidance from her.

And so, Elaina and the girls began looking around for forage around the forest. Thanks to the presence of Shardu, no beast seems to be going their way and are regularly avoiding them which is why she doesn’t seem to hope that they will be getting any monster or animal to hunt right now.

"Wow, these tree has a lot of fruit. Should we take these?" Layla pointed on one of the peach trees. Since it is late summer, they are already ripe and ready to harvest.

"Sure. Be careful though, watch out for bees if there are any."

The girls are enthusiastic and quickly started taking the fruits. Although Arthur and Raye do want to join the girls on the fun, Elaina specifically banned them from doing so while they are injured. Even if they are healed, they have not fully taken anything that would let them heal fully so they still couldn’t do anything similar to that.

Walking into the forest, they soon found lots of forage and although most of them are pretty much random stuff, most of them are food and are good to eat so they still managed to harvest fresh goods even if it isn’t harvest season.

By the time it is about to get dark, the group is about to go home filled with stuff in their inventories, pretty much fully satisfied by the trip. The boys are a bit disappointed but since it was their fault they are disappointed anyways, they cannot argue with it.

As soon as they arrive home, the boys were immediately taken to Yona’s house so that she can examine them on their conditions. With Julia no longer with them, Elaina has to approach Yona to get the task done. Thankfully, Yona is quite capable just like Julia in terms of medicine stuff so she is not worried. If things would get worse though, Elaina will immediately rush towards Dr. Fey who is more specialized in more difficult stuff for medicine and is much more capable in healing.

"It’s good that they didn’t suffer everlasting injuries and just some minor injuries that can heal overtime or by using potions and higher spells of healing. Otherwise, things would get really bad."

Hearing this, the two sighed in relief and they both took the Health Potions to recover from the pain. After the two have taken their potions they were instructed by Elaina to go to their respective rooms to rest and postpone their scoldings for tomorrow as it is late already.

"Thanks for the warning earlier, Yona. Thanks to that, we immediately found them before they got into big trouble."

"No worries. Thank goodness they are safe though. Still, Miss Elaina, I am a bit worried about the situation in the forest for some reason," Yona is perplexed.

"Is there something happening in the forest right now?" Elaina asked.

"You might not be aware since you barely go to the market with the girls to buy some groceries but according to some of the adventurers, monsters in the forest seems to be a bit restless and a bit in a troubled state that I felt worried. You said that the boys have been attacked by a beast that enters gigantification?"

"Yes. Perhaps it was due to that situation that the monsters have been restless lately. Still, we needed to be careful. We can’t be too sure if this cause of restlessness of monsters were caused by natural causes or this might be something that is being rigged by someone from Luminiera Kingdom so that they can use this chance to launch while the kingdom is busy defending themselves from the monsters."

Elaina couldn’t help but agree. If those guys in the past has the capability to brainwash a human, there might be a chance they are doing the same to the monsters.

"Thanks for this information, Yona. We will continue to prepare."
