A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 384: Intervention Just In Time
Chapter 384: Intervention Just In Time
Elaina couldn’t understand why Julia seems to be rattled. She asked who the person was but she was not able to know who exactly it is. But based on her behavior alone, Elaina can tell that the person behind the farm’s gate is someone that Julia know.
"Sis, grab your sword just in case. Can’t be too sure about this person."
"Alright."
Grabbing her sword, the two headed outside with one still curious and a bit confused on the behavior of her companion, while the other is sweating and tense. Elaina is very sure now that Julia does know who it was but if she doesn’t say who it is, then she cannot force her. Besides, she will be seeing this person soon as well.
They stopped in front of the gate and Elaina soon saw the person that Julia have detected. Just like what she have described, the person is wearing a poncho and is covering his face. He is pacing side to side that seems to think of whether he should call out for someone or not.
"Sis, should we open the gate and face this person?"
"Depends. First, we will ask what he wanted. Who knows and maybe he is a customer."
Julia gulped her saliva and whispered to herself that only she herself can hear. "No way in hell he will become a customer!"
Before Elaina can approach, Adelaide and Arthur run towards Elaina, seemingly curious what is happening.
"Mom? Is someone there?" Arthur asked.
"Looks like someone is indeed here, Arthur," Adelaide answered as she looked towards the gate.
"You kids, be good and stay there, alright? I will talk to this guy for a bit."
Coincidentally, the person on the gate heard Elaina’s voice and quickly turned to where Elaina is. Elaina didn’t see him just yet as she was busy talking with the kids. However, his eyes immediately shifted to the two golden-haired kids near Elaina. A taller young boy and a smaller young girl who seemed to be more matured than the former. He can tell this babies are still too young, but seeing them act like they are already adults seems to be incomprehensible.
But that is not the main concern for him right now.
"Elaina."
One call from the hooded person made Elaina jolt and stop in her tracks. The voice of someone that she loved before. The voice of the person who betrayed her. The main reason she have run away from her duties and the main reason she is now a farmer in another kingdom. He couldn’t return here back then since there was a ban from Luminiera Kingdom that was posed for a year, blocking anyone from that place whether they are merchant or not from entering the borders of the kingdom. But since that ban has been lifted months ago, no one will stop him from visiting again. How could she forget who it was?
No, she didn’t forget. She wanted to forget but whe she is about to do so, that person would appear before her to make her remember his presence.
Without hesitation, Elaina pulls out her sword and is ready to attack, but Julia and the twins immediately held her back, stopping her from moving further.
"Sis! Stop!"
"What are you doing, Mom?!" Adelaide who didn’t know what is happening just help Julia stop her. Arthur also help though he is clueless as well.
"Unhand me! How dare he visit the farm after what he did last year?!" Elaina is raging and she is getting ready to fight at this point.
"Stop it, Sis!" Julia tried her best to stop Elaina with the help of the others but Julia couldn’t hold her back. With Elaina’s innate strength, she is outmatched literally by that alone.
After the small struggle, Elaina broke free from Julia and her twins’ grasps and starts to rush towards the hooded guy, even if the gate has yet to be opened.
But before she can tear the man from limbs to limbs using her sword, Julia quickly cast a spell to completely stop the berserk farmer.
"CHAIN UP!"
Chains made from mana appeared beneath Elaina’s feet and bound her hands and feet, stopping her from moving further and stopping her from moving.
The person on the gate broke down crying, kneeling and is now saying "Sorry" multiple times.
"Julia! What are you doing?!" Elaina’s eyes are fueled with rage, something that she didn’t even feel back when she was fighting a boss who destroyed her field of crops. That was not enough to fuel her rage, strong enough.
"I am stopping you from doing something that you would regret in life!" Julia shouted as she strengthen the chains further when she noticed them cracking from the strength of Elaina.
"Regret?! I will not be regretting what I am supposed to do!"
"Enough! Sister! [Silence]!" Snapping her fingers, Julia cast the spell, [Silence], a spell that can stop anyone from speaking. A very good skill for stopping magicians from speaking their chants to activate spells, she decided to use it against Elaina to force her to submission.
Elaina’s voice is immediately sealed and before she can try to power herself through the chains and forcefully break from it, an old woman’s voice speaks behind her back.
"Now, enough of that, Young lady. You are making a bad example for your kids."
Before Elaina can identify the one who just spoke, a dull pain forced her to fall unconscious in the process.
...
...
...
"Grandma?!" Julia was startled by the sudden appearance of Grandma Liliana, Elaina’s grandmother, who suddenly hit Elaina, knocking her unconscious.
"There’s nothing good in lashing out so hard that you will literally tear your flesh just to exact some violence. Julia, remove the chains and the spell you just cast on her, I will handle her from here onwards."
Even though Julia has been in shock, she quickly understood the assignment and reverted everything. Adelaide tug Julia’s shirt, prompting Julia to check on her.
"Aunty, who was that old grandma?"
"Oh, that’s right. Since they barely visited nowadays, you and your brother hasn’t seen your grandparents yet. Well, that old grandma you are talking about is your maternal great grandmother."
"G-great grandma?"
"Yep. And a little something as well, she is one of the people who are dubbed as the Heroes who have slain the demon king 60 years ago."
Adelaide shook up when she heard this. After all, she have read the history of the world to understand when she died and in how far was her timeline back then and her current timeline now. Naturally, during her tracing, she have read the exploits of the situation and soon realized that the people who was being called the heroes who once saved her during her first life which inspired her to become an adventurer back then and allowed her to grow stronger. Of course, she died before she have seen the eventual peace that resulted from the death of the demon king. But nonetheless, she heard of the heroes and have talked with them before.
"What’s the name of my great grandma again?" Adelaide asked.
"Oh, right. Since you are a reincarnated person, you might have interacted with the heroes back then, yes? Then you might know the Priestess of the heroes party and the one labeled as the Greatest Saintess in the books, yes? That’s right, your great grandmother is none other than the Priestess Liliana."
Hearing this, Adelaide’s memories jog back in the past. Not only did she expect this, but seeing the old version of the violent priestess that she have seen in the past who was considered as the strongest Priestess to ever exist. The priestess who is so merciful, she will heal back the enemies back to full health just so she can beat them up again. That person in her memories and the old woman standing before her are one and the same person.
"Grandma, are you the only one here?" Julia asked as she checked Elaina’s condition.
"No. Look over the gate and see who it is."
Julia turned towards the gate that slowly opens as the person who entered the gate carry the unconscious person who was also knocked out. It was none other than Elaina’s Grandfather, Rakkan.
"The nerve of this bastard to come and visit after doing something to my granddaughter? Young people like this guy is sure shameless," Rakkan said as he carries the unconscious body of the hooded guy to his shoulder.
Adelaide once again turns to ask on Julia once again.
"Aunty, as much as I want to explain this matter to my brother if he decided to ask, but I needed to know why Mother got so angry at that person? I don’t know what grave crime he did for my Mother to be ready to fight and attack him.
Upon hearing Adelaide’s curious question, Julia chuckled and sighed.
"Well, Ade. It was a long story but long story short, this person is none other than your bastard of a father, the one and only reason why your mother decided to retire as an Empress and the main reason she is a farmer right now, the Emperor of Luminiera Kingdom, Alfred Luminiera."
