Chapter 379: Monster Taming Again [III]

"Amazing!" Yona couldn’t help but marvel at Elaina’s new power. She even approached the cage inside the pocket dimension entrance that Elaina opened, and she could tell it was indeed frozen in time.

"Are you sure you are not using mana to summon this pocket dimension? After all, pocket dimensions are hard to materialize. If it was attached to a tool like a bag, it would be understandable that someone without magic could use it, but this should not be possible," Yona tried her best to analyze what Elaina’s power was doing.

"It seems that it acts like an item and summoning it just opens the pocket dimension on my call. It runs on its own power and nothing else. That might be why I can use it even though I can’t use magic."

After explaining a bit of her power, Elaina asked Yona to cast the Paralysis Immunity magic again on her before Elaina tamed the rest of the Planting Pot-Shelled Crabs. She has a plan to use them for her benefit and she might rake it big if her plan is a success and the Goddess of Taming will be also very happy as well, which is like hitting two birds with one stone.

"Are those things really useful? I don’t see much use of them, to be honest," Yona scratches her head looking at the captured crabs inside the cage.

"It’s fine. You will understand soon."

With the first batch of the monsters tamed, Elaina and Yona ventured further into the forest. Following Elaina’s Almanac, they soon spotted a few more of those Planting Pot-Shelled Crabs and Elaina tamed them once more. Soon, Elaina finally knew the current limit of her blessing.

"12 monsters eh? Not bad, but would have been better if they were at least 20. But I can’t be choosy."

"12 monsters is still a huge number. And considering that it can house any kind of monster in various sizes, even if the monster is the size of an island, as long as it is just one monster, it can fit inside the pocket dimension," Yona cheered Elaina.

"Indeed. According to the Goddess after she gave this blessing, if I improve my ability to tame monsters more, this blessing will also improve and gain expansion in the future. That is already something I am looking forward to."

"You will be taming a lot of monsters, yeah? Then, this will not be a hard thing for you."

Elaina nodded. If she continues to tame monsters, then sooner or later, the progress will increase further and she will master it.

"Since I can’t tame more without a space in this pocket dimension, let’s get back home."

Yona nodded and the two returned on their way back home. However, before Elaina and Yona can continue moving forward, they are both stopped by a loud roar of a beast not too far from their location. Elaina immediately readied her sword while Yona began scanning their surroundings using her magic spell.

"Seen anything, Yona?" Elaina asked.

"Sure do. Here, I will share my vision," Yona snapped her fingers and Elaina’s vision changed to the vision of Yona’s sentry that she summoned to check the surroundings. On the sentry’s vision, is a bear currently breaking a giant beehive and killing the bees in the surroundings. It wasn’t a regular bear since it was big in terms of size and quite bulky for a bear that even the Polar Bear like Zaza pales in comparison compared to the monster before them.

As for the bees, they are quite big and the stinger it has is also big, similar to a big drill. It looks menacing but before the bear, the stinger looked like a regular needle.

The Almanac Bestiary also seems to gain knowledge of both monsters before her but since Elaina’s eyes are currently swapped with the sentry, Elaina couldn’t read whatever was in the bestiary. But for Elaina, it’s much more important to keep an eye on the battle.

"I have seen this kind of bear before in the forest back when you still have not discovered my place. I think it was called the Honey Ravager Bear."

"It doesn’t sound so menacing to me," Elaina said while still looking at the bear before her sight.

"It might not be in terms of how it looks but it does in terms of how it behaves and how it attacks beehives. Any beehive it attacks, will thoroughly destroy and kill all the worker bees regardless of whether they are a monster or regular bees are none of its concern. Although it eats honey after destroying a beehive, its main target is none other than the Queen Bee. It eats any Queen Bees as its main snack before finding more beehives."

Hearing this, Elaina’s eyes lit up. Seeing the situation of the beehive, and how most of the bees defending the Queen bee have died, Elaina finally has an idea that might come close to her plan.

Before them, the beehive is not yet fully destroyed, meaning, the Queen inside is still alive. The only bee that is currently stopping the bear from taking the Queen Bee from the beehive is a single worker bee, annoying the Honey Ravager Bear, and distracting it from performing its main purpose. However, looking at the worker bee’s state, it won’t take long before it gets swatted flat by the bear. Without any more guards, Elaina had an idea.

"Yona, do you know how to slay the bear without getting close?"

"Sure do. I hunted these bears before as it will be lots of food for me if I kill one and their fur is quite thick. Besides, I don’t want to get mauled by them in my sleep so I have dealt with them multiple times, this won’t be my first rodeo."

Yona waves her staff and stabs its end to the ground. Then, something crawls under the soil and rapidly creeps up to the location of the bear. Before the bear could react, whatever was crawling underneath the soil shot itself up, revealing a bunch of roots, and rapidly bound the bear’s limbs, stopping it from moving.

"Miss Elaina, do you want to preserve its pelt?"

"The less damaged the pelt, the better," Elaina answered. After all, the quality of the pelt of the monster dictates how badly damaged the pelt was.

"Good thing I asked you before I finished the bear off."

Yona tapped her staff on the ground once more and two small vines appeared beneath the bear. Elaina thought she would pierce the bear using the vines somewhere around its body but Elaina didn’t expect to see those things enter the ears of the bear and in just a few seconds, the bear stopped moving.

"Eh? What happened? How come it suddenly died?" Elaina frowned. She was looking at the situation and she still couldn’t understand how the bear suddenly died without blood flowing. Did those vines kill the bear on the inside?

"Using those vines, I destroyed the Honey Ravager Bear’s brain. Let’s just say the vines dried up its brain before it could move, and without the brain, its body rapidly declined and it ended up dying. Simple, quick, and bloodless."

Elaina shuddered at the thought of being defeated by that kind of tactic. No wonder witches are feared so much back then, with how they use their magic efficiently, even killing monsters is just a mere thing for them.

With the bear killed, the last worker bee fell to the ground with her sting destroyed. It wasn’t pulled out of her abdomen, making it possible for the worker bee to still live, but it cannot sting anymore.

"Let’s go. It should be safe now," Elaina said and Yona followed her.

Thanks to the rampage of the Honey Ravager Bear, the beehive is half destroyed and Elaina can see the bee still being guarded by a few bees but based on its appearance, she can tell those bees are drone bees and are only tasked to mate the queen bee. As for the last worker bee, the moment Elaina and Yona appeared it tried to move again, but it couldn’t fly anymore, still, it didn’t back down and was ready to attack using her broken stinger.

"All the worker bees except this little fella here are dead, Miss Elaina. What are we going to do about them?" Yona asked.

"What else? I needed to tame them."

"Eh? But you cannot store them anymore..." Yona frowned.

"Heh, even though I cannot store them in the pocket dimension anymore, doesn’t mean I cannot tame them. Yona, do you have another spell that will allow me to get immune or resistant to poison?"

"I do. Should I cast it now?"

"Go ahead. Although the worker bee’s stinger is broken, doesn’t mean it can’t secrete venom on its broken stinger. Might as well have immunity just in case."

Yona applied it quickly to Elaina and the latter picked up the bee on the ground, ready to attack. As soon as Elaina picked the bee up, she began to poke Elaina with her broken stinger. It couldn’t pierce Elaina’s skin, and with the help of the poison immunity, Elaina started taming the worker bee. Since the worker bee is so wounded, the taming process works almost instantly, converting it from a dangerous monster to a docile and tamed monster.

Elaina also did it to the Queen Bee and the drone bees, allowing Elaina to obtain more than one harvest right now. With the bees tamed right now and the bear being hunted, Elaina’s forest expedition with Yona is a massive success.
