Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Too Absorbed in Discussing the Problem

"Hello?" Despite his best efforts to control himself, his voice was still laced with a huskiness born from desire.

On the other end of the line was the somewhat oblivious Chase Childs. Noticing that President Quinn’s voice sounded a little off, he immediately asked with concern, "President Quinn, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

The question gave Seth Quinn a bit of a headache. He cleared his throat and subconsciously glanced at Clara Grant, his eyes brimming with amusement. Yet, his expression remained perfectly natural and serious as he said, "It’s nothing. I just got a little too invested in our discussion."

When Clara saw him look her way, she figured the person on the phone must have noticed something was off with his voice. And when she heard what he said next, her fair, porcelain-like face, which had just regained its color, instantly flushed crimson again.

’A discussion? He’s a natural at spouting nonsense with a straight face!’

Chase Childs knew President Quinn was in Clara’s room and assumed they were discussing the day’s events. He didn’t think much of it, simply saying, "Oh," before reporting on the task he had been assigned.

"President Quinn, your wife’s suitcase has been found."

"Mm." Seth Quinn didn’t look away from Clara Grant. He hummed in acknowledgment, a silent cue for Chase to continue.

"And we’ve already tracked down the person who disposed of the suitcase. But she claims she doesn’t know anything. She says someone just gave her money and told her to dump it somewhere discreet.

According to her, a man gave her the suitcase. As she was taking the money and leaving with it, she overheard him on the phone. She vaguely heard him refer to the person he was talking to as ’Miss Vaughn.’

If the woman isn’t lying, then I think the person who swapped your wife’s suitcase must be Sandra. However, there are no security cameras in the film studio, so we can’t be certain. It’s possible she’s being framed."

Chase’s last sentence wasn’t meant to get Sandra off the hook; he had his own reasons for being suspicious.

On the surface, Sandra was the prime suspect. After all, she had ample motive to do something like this.

His wife had taken her role, demoting her from the seventh female lead to an even more minor supporting part. Holding a grudge, she could have deliberately orchestrated this to humiliate his wife.

That explanation made the most sense, but...

The face of another person, someone who also seemed a bit suspicious, flashed through his mind.

When Chase finished speaking, Seth Quinn didn’t respond right away. He narrowed his eyes, a thoughtful expression on his face.

A moment passed. When Clara hadn’t heard him speak for a while, she assumed the call was over and glanced up at him. Seth met her gaze and seemed to pull himself from his thoughts before speaking into the phone.

"Mm, I understand. Since we know it’s her, go ahead and handle it."

With that, he hung up the phone.

His final words sparked a bad feeling in Clara. She was about to ask him about it as he hung up, but he spoke first. "They found your suitcase."

Clara froze. ’He said they found my suitcase?’

She subconsciously glanced at the suitcase in the corner. ’Does that mean he knew all along that this one wasn’t mine?’

’So those last few impatient words he said... were they to help me out of that jam?’

’I thought he wouldn’t—and didn’t want to—help me. But in the end, he was the one who did?’

But Clara had no time to dwell on that. Right now, something else was more important.

She looked at Seth Quinn and, after a moment of thought, spoke.
