Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Unworthy of Your Affection

From the way Jasper Ford was talking, he was clearly implying that Vivian Quincy had been the one to seduce Jeremy King. What did that have to do with her?

Vivian Quincy was furious and wanted a reasonable explanation from Jasper Ford, but he completely ignored her. After the doctor finished treating Hayden Kaye’s injuries, Jasper said, "Go home on your own."

Hayden Kaye looked up and asked, "What about Vivian Quincy? Can I take her with me?"

"No." Jasper Ford’s rejection was direct, leaving no room for negotiation.

Hayden Kaye lowered his head, dejected. "Then I won’t leave yet. I’ll wait here for Vivian Quincy to get off work."

The gloom in Jasper Ford’s eyes deepened. His innate, powerful aura intensified, making the already frightened Hayden Kaye even more terrified. But then he had another thought: ’If I stay, I can protect Vivian Quincy.’ With that, he had nothing to fear.

"Ninth Uncle, I won’t get in your way. I’ll just wait nearby. Who knows if Jeremy King is lurking outside? I can’t rest until I see her home safely." Hayden Kaye’s voice was almost a plea. "Please, just let me."

"A woman like her isn’t worthy of your affection," Jasper Ford said bluntly, right in front of Vivian Quincy.

Vivian Quincy knew her own worth, and she certainly didn’t need Jasper Ford standing there running his mouth. Puffing out her cheeks in anger, she lifted her chin and said, "Whatever I’m like, I don’t need the President commenting on it."

Jasper Ford turned back to her, his expression cold and unyielding. He clearly did not appreciate her talking back.

Vivian Quincy didn’t care if he was angry; she was angry herself. She wasn’t even getting paid for this overtime. Normally, she would have clocked out at five-thirty. It was already dark out, so she was well past her work hours. Accompanying Jasper Ford here was already doing him a huge favor; she didn’t need to endure his insults on top of it!

’It makes no difference whether I’m here or not anyway!’

Vivian Quincy turned to Hayden Kaye. "Thank you for your help earlier. I’m leaving now." She felt like she would suffocate if she stayed here a minute longer.

As Vivian Quincy walked away, Hayden Kaye quickly chased after her, limping slightly. He must have injured his leg during the fight and couldn’t drive. In the end, it was Jasper Ford who took Hayden Kaye home.

Caden Chandler was in the driver’s seat and Hayden Kaye was in the passenger seat. In the back, Jasper Ford and Vivian Quincy sat in silence. No one in the car spoke.

Jasper Ford was naturally a man of few words; the others were simply too afraid to speak.

As the driver, Caden Chandler was closest to Jasper Ford and could clearly feel the icy aura emanating from behind him. He was panicking internally. Wiping cold sweat from his forehead, he put on some music to try and lighten the oppressive atmosphere.

"THIS IS THE FEELING OF FLYING... THIS IS THE FEELING OF FREEDOM..." a voice screeched hysterically from the speakers.

The previously silent Jasper Ford lazily lifted his head. "What is this song?" he asked.

Caden Chandler fumbled to change the song, his face flushing red as he explained, "Wrong one. I’ll switch it."

Then, everyone in the car heard: "HAPPY BREAKUP, I WISH YOU HAPPINESS, YOU CAN FIND SOMEONE BETTER..."

The air in the car instantly froze. Caden Chandler wanted to cry. He hurriedly shut off the music. The car was finally quiet, but the atmosphere was terrible. It was unclear if he was angered by the song, but Jasper Ford’s infuriatingly handsome face remained stern the entire time, looking utterly terrifying.

After what felt like an eternity, they finally pulled up to the main gate of the Kaye Family’s estate. Jasper Ford opened his door and got out.

Hayden Kaye said, "Ninth Uncle, I can get upstairs by myself. It’s late, you should head back."

The man paid him no mind, striding past Hayden with long, unbroken steps. He moved with a crisp, cool air, leaving Hayden behind.

The guard at the Kaye residence bowed respectfully. "Good evening, President Ford."

"Is the master of the house in?" Jasper Ford asked.

The guard replied, "Yes, he is. This way, President Ford."

Hayden Kaye watched Jasper Ford’s retreating back in confusion. ’Didn’t Ninth Uncle come here just to drop me off? Why is he going inside to see my father?’

’This is bad!’

Hayden Kaye realized what Jasper Ford intended to do and quickly chased after him.

Still in the car, Vivian Quincy asked Caden Chandler curiously, "What did the President go in there for?"

"He must have some business to discuss," Caden Chandler said with a helpless shrug. "Master Kaye got into a fight. The President definitely needs to have a word with his father."

"Will Hayden get in trouble? Can I go in and see?" After all, Hayden had gotten hurt because of her, and Vivian Quincy felt guilty.

Caden Chandler could read her mind. "You’d better stay out of it. This is the Kaye Family’s private business. The President will handle it. What would it look like if you went in there?"

Getting into a brawl over a woman in front of so many people? 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

’How embarrassing would that be if word got out!’

Russell Kaye was a man who cared a great deal about his reputation. If Vivian Quincy were to go in at a time like this, it would only complicate things.

After waiting in the car for nearly half an hour, Jasper Ford finally emerged from the Kaye estate. Caden Chandler immediately got out to greet him. "President, are we heading home or back to the office?"

"The office." As Jasper Ford spoke, his eyes flickered to Vivian Quincy, still in the car. A hint of displeasure touched his sharp lips. "On second thought, you can take a taxi back. Give me the keys."

"Yes, sir." Caden Chandler was ever-obedient. He handed over the keys, hailed a cab by the side of the road, and left.

Vivian Quincy, who was still in the car, got out. Watching Caden Chandler’s retreating figure, she asked, "Where did he go?"

The man’s gaze slowly settled on Vivian Quincy. He took a step closer, his fair, elegant hand gripping her chin. "You’d better behave," he warned in a low voice, "or I’ll make you suffer miserably."

Vivian Quincy’s face scrunched up in pain. "I didn’t do anything! President, you must have misunderstood something."

"Hah." Jasper Ford let out a soft, cold laugh. "Drive," he commanded, his voice low and clear.

Although Vivian Quincy found this very strange, she didn’t dare to ask. Afraid that Jasper Ford might suddenly snap and hit her, she obediently started the car and drove toward Prosperity District.

She didn’t dare to speak, didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly. She was on edge the entire way. ’Jasper Ford is a ticking time bomb,’ she thought, ’and right now, he’s just building up to an explosion. And I’m the poor soul who’s about to be caught in the blast.’

But when it came down to it, what did any of this have to do with her?

Vivian Quincy could have handled Jeremy King on her own. How was she supposed to know that Hayden Kaye would suddenly charge in? Even if she was partly at fault, Jasper shouldn’t be taking all his anger out on her.

Vivian Quincy felt like Jasper Ford was using her as his personal punching bag, and she was not happy about it.

She started cursing him in her head.

Jasper Ford raised an eyebrow at her resentful expression, snorted coldly, and said, "To your place."

Vivian Quincy slammed on the brakes and whipped her head around, thinking she must have misheard. "To my place? What for?" she asked hurriedly.

The man just looked at her, his gaze sharp and icy.

Vivian Quincy, who had a million things she wanted to say, immediately clamped her mouth shut. ’Fine. He’s the boss. What he says, goes. Wherever he says to go, I’ll go...’

Sulking, Vivian Quincy made a U-turn and started driving toward her apartment.

"That man who was bothering you today, do you know him?" Jasper Ford continued his questioning.

Vivian Quincy shook her head. "I don’t. But I heard his name is Jeremy King."

Jasper Ford let out a soft laugh. ’Right. You don’t know him.’
