Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Mommy’s First Love

In the private room, a waiter was serving the dishes while Madam Ford was singing Hayden Kaye’s praises. Squeezed between Jasper Ford and Madam Ford, Beanie listened to his grandmother’s endless boasting and couldn’t help but prop his chin on his hands to carefully size up Hayden Kaye.

’Even though Mommy and I came to Crestfall to find my jerk of a dad,’ Beanie thought, ’we haven’t seen him show up once all these years. If Mommy really likes this uncle, I guess I can tolerate him for her sake.’

At this thought, Beanie couldn’t resist asking Hayden Kaye, "Do you really like her?"

Hayden Kaye blushed, his eyes filled with deep affection. "Yes. I fell deeply in love with her six years ago."

"You’ve known each other for a long time?" Beanie’s eyes filled with anticipation. ’How come Mommy never mentioned him before?’

Hayden Kaye’s cheeks grew warm, his gaze utterly sincere. "Yes, we met back in school. She’s the only person I’ve ever loved."

"So romantic." Beanie was so moved his eyes practically had hearts in them. ’Oh my gosh, this is Mommy’s first love! Doesn’t that mean my jerk dad is out of the picture?’

Jasper Ford’s brow tightened. He gave Beanie’s head an unfriendly pat. "Just eat. Children shouldn’t interrupt when adults are speaking."

"Ford, look at how he confessed his love. You should really learn from him," Beanie grumbled, pouting unhappily.

Jasper Ford’s incredibly handsome face suddenly turned cold. "What do you know? Stop spouting nonsense."

"Jasper, Beanie is right. You should learn from Hayden. He started pursuing girls six years ago. Now, look at you." The more Madam Ford thought about it, the more displeased she became. ’That Vivian Quincy is so wonderful. She’s young, beautiful, has a great personality, speaks so pleasantly, and she even works at my son’s company...’

The rest of the meal was tasteless.

「After lunch.」 Hayden Kaye left, and Jasper Ford’s party returned to Imperium Group.

Vivian Quincy was busy with work, but Madam Ford was idle. After closing the office door, she began to scold Jasper, "Look at all those young, beautiful women out there! Is a single one of them unattractive? You don’t even understand the simplest advantages of proximity. Look at Hayden! He pursued a girl right under your very nose, and you’re not the least bit concerned."

"What is there to be concerned about?" Jasper Ford paid her no mind. ’She’s just some shady woman. Not worth a second thought.’

But since his mother was present, Jasper Ford held back from saying anything too harsh. ’No man would want someone like Vivian Quincy. She’s too... tainted!’

Seeing that he wasn’t listening, Madam Ford decided not to press the issue and left with Beanie.

That afternoon, Jasper Ford had two meetings to attend. Since Caden Chandler was busy receiving clients from other companies on Jasper’s behalf, Vivian Quincy was the only one available to accompany him to the meetings.

The entire conference room was deathly silent. Anyone could feel the murderous aura radiating from Jasper Ford. ’The CEO is in a bad mood!’

Throughout the meeting, everyone was on edge, not daring to even breathe too loudly. They were all scared to death, hoping that if they just stayed quiet enough, they wouldn’t be caught in the CEO’s crossfire. But in the end, they were all reprimanded so severely they started to question their life choices.

They barely managed to survive until the meeting ended. After Jasper Ford left, the others couldn’t help but complain, "The CEO was fine this morning. Why is he on such a short fuse this afternoon? Quincy, did the CEO not get any rest at noon?"

"I don’t think he rested," Vivian Quincy answered quietly. Jasper Ford had been working nonstop ever since they returned from the restaurant.

The others murmured, "No wonder the CEO is so irritable. There’s another meeting in half an hour. We’d better be prepared. If we can’t answer his questions later, he’ll probably blow up again."

The people in the conference room gradually filed out.

Vivian Quincy returned to her desk, holding a stack of documents.

The roses Hayden Kaye had brought were still on her desk. While they smelled lovely, Vivian Quincy found them to be in the way. Spotting an empty vase on the windowsill across from her, she unwrapped the bouquet and arranged the flowers inside it.

Jasper Ford, who was passing by, saw this and walked over. "Who bought these flowers?"

Vivian Quincy turned around in a panic and stammered, "Hay...den Kaye."

"Throw them out," Jasper Ford commanded.

The young woman froze, looking down at the bouquet in confusion. It seemed like such a shame to throw away something so beautiful. "Do I have to?" she asked, reluctant to part with them.

Jasper Ford stared at her with his deep-set eyes, not saying a single word. Vivian Quincy abruptly yanked the roses from the vase, quickly bundling them together. "I’ll throw them out right now!"

She threw them into the trash can right in front of him.

The man’s cold, stern expression finally softened a little.

Vivian Quincy let out a sigh of relief and cautiously returned to her seat. But Jasper Ford hadn’t left, leaving her in an awkward limbo where she didn’t know whether to sit or stand. She could only remain standing foolishly by her desk, just like him, staring at him with wide, bewildered eyes, wondering what she had done wrong.

Jasper Ford had been about to reprimand her, but the sight of her wide, confused eyes made him fall silent. "You’re coming with me after the meeting," he said instead.

"Yes, Mr. President," Vivian Quincy nodded, gathering all the documents he would need.

To avoid keeping Jasper Ford waiting, Vivian Quincy went to the garage ahead of time to get the car. To her surprise, she ran into Wanda Quincy.

Vivian Quincy ignored her, unlocked the car, and opened the door.

Wanda Quincy strode over, grabbed Vivian Quincy’s hand, and demanded, "How do you have Jasper’s car keys? Where is he?"

"Can’t you look for him yourself?" Vivian Quincy retorted, annoyed.

Wanda Quincy said furiously, "Who do you think you are, daring to speak to me like that? Aren’t you afraid of what I’ll do to you once I become the Young Madam of the Ford Family?"

"That’s assuming you ever do," Vivian Quincy said. She really couldn’t be bothered to argue with someone like her. Exchanging even one more word felt exhausting.

She discreetly shook Wanda Quincy’s hand off. Vivian Quincy clearly hadn’t used much force, yet Wanda Quincy fell to the ground. Vivian found this odd. Just as she was about to ask Wanda why she was on the floor, she caught sight of Jasper Ford stepping out of the elevator from the corner of her eye.

Before Vivian Quincy could explain, Wanda Quincy started crying. "Why did you push me?"

Vivian Quincy was completely baffled.

By this time, Jasper Ford had walked over. "What happened?" he asked.

Wanda Quincy, her eyes red, wiped her tears pitifully. "Jasper, I was just asking your assistant for your whereabouts when she lost her temper and pushed me down. Look, my hand is all red."

The man’s expression was dark, radiating an intimidating aura without any outward display of anger.

Vivian Quincy couldn’t believe how shameless Wanda Quincy was. She explained, "I didn’t push her."

"So she just sat on the ground herself?" Jasper Ford asked. Clearly, he didn’t believe Vivian Quincy.

Vivian Quincy said, "I have no reason to push her."

"So you’re saying she’s framing you?" Jasper Ford shot back.

Wanda Quincy looked as if she were about to burst into tears. "I have no grievance with Quincy, why would I frame her? It’s obvious she didn’t like me asking about you, so she took advantage of the empty garage to push me down on purpose." She wiped her tears with a sob and said plaintively, "Jasper, this assistant of yours is a truly awful person. Why do you even keep her around? Please, just fire her, okay?"
