70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 398: Visiting Professor Song
The little brother’s cries echoed in the room as Xu Mumu put down the book in her hand to check on him. The little fellow had woken up and wanted to get off the bed but fell in the process.
At that moment, Madam Chen was holding him and trying to soothe him; his cries were loud and clear.
"Where did he hurt himself?" Xu Mumu asked, looking at grandma with concern. The little guy’s face was covered in tears, looking quite pitiful.
"He scraped a bit of skin on his foot," Madam Chen said, clearly feeling sorry for him.
"I’ll go get some alcohol to wipe it for him." Xu Mumu turned around to fetch the alcohol.
"No need, that stuff stings more when it touches a wound." Madam Chen refused outright, carrying the little guy outside to wash the scraped area on his foot with clean water.
Xu Mumu didn’t stop her, knowing that if they really used alcohol to clean it, the little guy would probably cry even louder.
As the little guy cried for quite a while, it wasn’t until Yin Yang brought some snacks that he finally stopped crying.
"This little rascal, he’s probably just thinking about food," Madam Chen patted the little guy’s bottom and teased him with a smile.
"Grandma, the snacks are all in the main room. Whatever Fengfeng wants, you can give him. We haven’t counted, so we’re careful not to give him too much," Yin Yang said gently.
"Alright, I’ll get him some when my good grandson gets hungry," Madam Chen replied with a beaming smile.
With an extra little guy around, the small courtyard became much livelier.
The little guy ran back and forth in the courtyard. It was more spacious here compared to their place in the provincial city, allowing him to run freely. There were also two dogs here, and he absolutely loved this place.
At night, Xu Mumu helped clean up the little guy. "I want to sleep with sister," said the little one. Although Xu Mumu wanted to carry him to the old couple’s bed, he wouldn’t let go of her hand.
"Alright, sleep with sister," Xu Mumu said gently. Though she’s not used to having an extra person, Xu Mumu felt she needed to work hard to adapt, especially since she and Yin Yang would have their own children in the future. If she was not used to having a child sleeping with them then, that wouldn’t be good.
Yin Yang wanted to say something but held back.
Having the little guy by their side at night, his warm body felt comfortable despite being a bit chubby, but Xu Mumu still wasn’t used to it.
Even though she wasn’t used to it, she didn’t toss and turn the whole time. The little guy slept soundly, his chubby hand clutching one of Xu Mumu’s fingers. That utter reliance filled Xu Mumu’s heart completely; how could the little guy be so adorable?
If she and Yin Yang got married, their children would probably be even better-looking. Yin Yang was already so handsome, and she wasn’t bad either. The Old Xu Family members weren’t ugly either, so their children would surely be more attractive.
Thinking about these things, Xu Mumu soon felt drowsy.
Even though she woke up a few times during the night, Xu Mumu still felt she slept quite well and didn’t sport two big dark circles under her eyes in the morning.
The two of them went to school for classes. Professor Jian also had a class, while Professor Song was resting at home. Madam Chen and Old Xu took Fengfeng for a stroll nearby, trying to familiarize themselves with the area.
On arriving at the school, there was talk about an upcoming meeting, with many discussing the matter. It attracted quite a bit of attention, and although Xu Mumu did overhear some talk, she didn’t join the conversation.
Many people were not very optimistic about this, as those policies had been in place for so many years, and everyone was accustomed to them. Implementing new policies wouldn’t be an easy task.
Knowing about future developments, Xu Mumu wasn’t particularly concerned. The country was moving in a positive direction and would continue to improve over time.
Yin Yang and Huo Qingze were preparing what they needed to do, which reassured Xu Mumu.
While not particularly interested in business, she was quite intrigued by physics.
If she ended up creating something, Yin Yang would find a way to take care of it for her.
Xu Mumu arrived at the classroom early. There weren’t many people there yet.
Just after she sat down, Su Yue’e sat down beside her.
"Mumu, how’s Professor Song doing? Is he feeling better?" Su Yue’e asked, looking at Xu Mumu. Professor Song was a highly respected professor in the physics department, and everyone was quite concerned about him after his injury.
"Sir Song is much better now, don’t worry," Xu Mumu replied with a warm smile. She noticed quite a few ears were perked up listening; many cared about Professor Song, which warmed Xu Mumu’s heart.
"Mumu, when will there be people at your home? We’d like to visit Professor Song too," Su Yue’e looked at Xu Mumu expectantly. This honorable and daunting task fell upon her because she had a slightly better relationship with Xu Mumu, so the class had asked her to speak on their behalf.
"How about the weekend?" Xu Mumu’s gaze swept over those present, noting that quite a few intended to visit Professor Song. She didn’t refuse.
"Mumu, we know where you live, so you don’t need to come get us. We’ll bring our classmates over," Jiang Zhenghao said warmly, his eyes lighting up.
"Alright, come over on Saturday," Xu Mumu nodded.
Having agreed to visit Professor Song, Xu Mumu mentioned this to Yin Yang during lunch.
"If they want to come, let them come. It’s just a shame we can’t take grandma and grandpa out to play on Saturday," Yin Yang said regretfully, feeling their chance at getting into their good graces was thwarted by this.
"No worries, we can do it on the next holiday. They’ll be staying here for a long time anyway," Xu Mumu replied with a laugh. Both grandma and grandpa were reasonable people.
"That’s all we can do," Yin Yang said warmly.
Upon their return, the small courtyard already had guests: the dean of the physics academy was there, chatting with Professor Song. Madam Chen and Old Xu were in the courtyard helping Mrs. Liu tidy the place up.
In the bare area by the flowerbed, who knows where they got the seeds, but they were now planting vegetable seedlings.
"Grandma, where did you get these vegetable seedlings?" Xu Mumu asked curiously. Grandma and grandpa really could plant vegetables anywhere.
"Your grandpa bought them from the folks at the house in front with money," Madam Chen said proudly. She figured out they might have seedlings as soon as she saw their vegetable garden, so she and Old Xu made friends with them to get some.
Just yesterday, Xu Mumu had slipped over a hundred yuan into her hands, and she had been worrying about where to spend it. Now she’s found a use for it.
The folks at the house in front were quite familiar to Xu Mumu; their household had quite a few members, and their vegetable field was quite large. They even secretly sold some of their produce on the black market for cash.
Yin Yang had told her all this. That family might not show off, but they were doing quite well, and their family was harmonious; you hardly ever heard them argue.
