"Finally"
Mrs.Brown breathed out while staring at the busy streets of county z which had been her home some years ago.
She didn’t know it would finally come when she would be back here,not the same weak lady which was helpless to do anything but a strong and powerful one now,God have mercy on the soul that hurt her years ago.
Meeting James Brown had been a blessing in her life,she will forever be grateful to him for what he had done.
At First,she didn’t want to trust him because of her ugly past with men which made her turn cold towards,but James wasn’t one to give up easily ,he broke down the thick walls she built around herself as a shield to protect herself.
But that wasn’t the problem here,as much as she came back here for revenge,she still had far more important things to do which was correcting the mistake she made in the past.
She knew no amount of pleadings or sufferings would change the fact for what she did,but she did that to protect her.
She wondered how the two would be right now,would they turn out to look exactly like her or their good for nothing father?
She just prays she’s able to find her back where she left her twenty four years ago,as of now,she still has to lay low and not tip off her ex husband that she was back in the country.
She had gotten married to James, not out of love which he knew,it hasn’t been easy trying to live a fake life that she loves him which he knew,even when she opposed their marriage, he wasn’t willing to let her go making it impossible to turn down his request.
Atfirst,she had told him she only needed him for her revenge, which he gladly accepted but things changed the moment she was with him.
Now, she’s back here to put things in order,things which do not include hurting James or his daughter.
Talking about his daughter,Mary Brown,she hasn’t been on good terms with the young Lady,it was as if the sassy princess saw right through her facade that she wasn’t here because she loves her dad but rather for something else.
But that did not change the fact that she gave her the chance to badmouth her,Mary needed training which she knew would be difficult to do now seeing as she was spoiled by her dad.
Whatever it was,she will try her best to turn her into a changed princess rather than one that would cause problems for her dad because of her jealousy.
She already heard from the head maid that she had some visitors which she knew were no other people than her friends which she called just to humiliate her but she wouldn’t give her such a chance.
As much as she’s trying hard to make the girl love her like a mother,she should not stand still and watch her humiliate her, something’s she wondered if her babygirl was exactly like Mary?
"Ma, it’s so good to be back right?Such a long time"Her driver cut her thoughts while asking her foolish questions.
There wasn’t any good thing about coming back here,the only thing she had here was only bad memories which she tried to forget but it wasn’t that easy for her,she was just back here for the both of them,once she finds them,she leaves.
There isn’t anything worthy of keeping her here,glaring at victor for what he said,he sent a quick apology before concentrating on his driving but not without giving out a deep breath that she didn’t break his head.
Turning to stare outside the window,her phone rang,smiling. She took it out of her bag because she knew who was calling.
"Hey babe! What’s up with you?"James’ ever so lovely voice asked over the phone,she had earlier called him after she landed in the country to let him know of her arrival,but he wasn’t picking up.
"I’m still on my way home,I called earlier to let you know that I’ve landed safely",She said pouting her lips as if she’s angry at him for not picking up.
"I was in a meeting, what?do you miss me?"He teased, which made her face turn red.
What’s wrong with him today? He’s always like this whenever he’s in a good mood and she knew he was happy about her arrival back home.
Home?
It sounded foreign to her ever since her first home wasn’t really a home to her but he’ll,was James the same or is he faking it?
She was questioning herself that she didn’t realize she was still on the phone with him,his next voice brought her back to reality.
"James"
"Babe,what’s wrong?Are you okay?"He asked concerned.
"Yes I’m fine,I guess it’s the network I wasn’t hearing you earlier"she lied trying not to tip him that she’s lost in thoughts again,he would leave everything at work just to keep her company,that’s how sweet James was.
She heard the sigh that escaped his lips through the phone,he knew she was lying but she couldn’t help it,she didn’t want him worrying about her anymore, he had done a lot for her which she can’t repay, letting him in on her demons was not what she wanted.
This is her fight,she needs to do this alone.
"Okay I would see you at home,take care"
She knew he wasn’t happy which made her feel bad.
"Okay"she whispered.
"I love you"He confessed,making her feel bad for what she was about to say.
"James,"she called.
"It’s okay,you know I will wait right? Even if it takes eternity,I will wait for you Isabella"He called her real name which made her know he’s serious.
"Ja.."
"Take care"He said lastly,and ended the call before she could speak further,she looked at her phone as if he was there.
He needs to know that it won’t be easy for her,he loves her, but she’s still healing from her past. She’s not going to lie but love is far from her mind now.
She’s only here for one thing,and that includes the revenge that followed suit,he must pay for what he did to her.
"Ma,we are here"Victor announced as the big gates to the mansion opened to her, seeing everyone waiting outside for her arrival as if she’s someone important. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
James!
She wasn’t one who loved the attention,but James won’t listen,he loves spoiling her too much.
The door was opened by a guard as she stepped down, admiring the house. This was her first time here; everything she had ever done with Mary and James took place in Paris.
"Welcome home madam"one of the maids who she knew was the head because her clothes were different took her luggage and bag from Victor’s hand.
Scanning the look on everyone’s face,she didn’t know how to feel,was she welcomed here wholeheartedly or is it because of James?
For crying out loud,she’s the second not the first,and she needs to know who was on her side seeing that their young miss Mary wasn’t welcoming,it’s not a surprise if they too, act that way towards her.
She smiled at them,before she instructed them not to feel bothered because of her arrival and act normal. She noticed the astonishment on their faces. Clearly,they weren’t expecting her to be this sweet.
Walking away from the maids towards the door leading to the sitting room,the loud blasting sound of music and cigarettes hit her nostrils the minute she walked in.
Mary was having the best time of her life with the very same friends of hers who had been a bad influence to her.
Mary was a full grown woman who did not need anyone to instruct her on how to behave,she had spent years of her life teaching the young lady the proper ethics on how to be ladylike but that’s just it,Mary wasn’t one who took advice this seriously.
Mrs.Brown knew Mary’s reason for doing this,it was only to make her angry but she couldn’t stop to think about what the public would say about her if they saw her right now.
Mrs. Brown didn’t care anymore if she tarnished her image but she wouldn’t stand idle and watch James’ most precious jewel try to tarnish her family’s image in the name of trying to make her leave.
It seems as if Mary noticed her presence because the maid that was beside her had her head bowed down in fear of what she might do if she tried turning the speaker off to grace the madam’s presence.
Turning the loudspeaker off with her friends turning to look at her with a smirk on her face,Mary yelled"welcome home stepmother!"A coy smile hanging on her lips while anticipating her next actions.
"I see you are having a good time"Mrs.Brown asked, walking up to take the wine to pour into a glass before sipping from it.
She nearly burst out laughing when she saw the look on Mary’s face,clearly,the young lady wasn’t expecting her reaction to be this.
"Good day ma’am"Lia ,the chatterbox was the first to greet smiling lovingly at her which made Mary question if she was stupid or not.
They were here to help her to piss her off, but no one had uttered any statement,it was as if what she did puzzled them because as Mary had described her to them,making them think she was a bad mother rather she’s here drinking with them.
What made her more angry was her stepmother,she wasn’t and didn’t expect her to act this way.
"How are you lovely?I’m so sad you didn’t invite me to your party,Mary didn’t say anything about having a party"Mrs.Brown asked, feigning hurt that she wasn’t invited.
"Actually she wanted to make you angry seeing that you didn’t like us,do..."Lia stopped talking when she figured out she had bitten more than she could chew.
Amused at the young lady’s loose mouth,Mrs.Brown turned to the maid beside Mary"Has lunch been prepared?"
"Yes"
"Fine"she said, clapping her hands``how about having lunch with me young Ladies?’’she asked, while everyone was gasping, including the other maids present.
The second madam is kind.
They have been expecting to hear voices of her shouting at Mary but here she was,acting as if nothing was going on.
"What do you think you are doing?’’Mary asked with a clenched fist when she noticed that everyone was loving her, including her friends.
Why isn’t Jenny talking?
"What does it seem like I am doing? Of course I want to have lunch with my daughter,well.."she stopped for a bit"step daughter right?"
She smirked,her raised brows making Mary know she had beaten her to her own games.
Walking out to have her bath,she could hear her step daughter yelling at her friends.
Mary Brown,you need to grow up.
