365 Days To Love-Chapter 186 - ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-SIX: Hazel’s Disappearance.
"Baby,I’m home"The rich, sweet, melodious voice of Zaiden, announced the moment he opened his room door to find it empty.
The smile on his face wavered when he met no one,so he dropped the shopping bag he was with on the chair and went off to the other parts of his room to check if Hazel was there.
"Babe?’’He called again, this time, the worried lines could be seen on his face when he didn’t find who he was looking for.
There’s absolutely no way, this was some prank she was trying to pull on him right?
Or was it?
She had clearly told him, countless times that she was going to serve him a dose of his own taste of the treatment on her, which he didn’t take to heart.
But at this point of time,he couldn’t help but wonder if that was her reason for hiding from him?
"If this is some joke Angel,I’m not that easily scared, you know that right?’’He jokingly teased, chuckling at the thoughts of her coming out of her hiding place any time soon.
But his thoughts were put to a stop, when he remembered his grandpa telling him that he hasn’t seen Hazel since he was back.
Odd.
But there was some truth in his old man’s statement, recalling back to the times when she would spend all day talking about silly things with the old man,and made him know that there was something wrong.
His next reaction after seeing that she was not hiding or in the house,he took out his phone and dialed her number which went to voicemail instantly.
Is this some joke or what?
Dialing for the second time, with his heartbeat increasing at the thoughts of his about where exactly she was.
If she went out to see Sunny, there’s absolutely no way she would stay out this late, besides her phone wouldn’t be saying arrant nonsense to him about going to voicemail.
She also didn’t mention anything about going out today,so where the hell is Hazel?
What if....
He shut his eyes closed ,trying to ward off all negative thoughts which clouded his mind after the second call that didn’t go through.
He was out of the room before one could say jack Robinson, matching impatiently into the sitting room where his grandpa was,and his mother who had been talking nonstop with the event planner.
"Mother!!’’He yelled, climbing down the steps towards the sitting room with hasty footsteps that he would have seriously injured himself,if mistakenly he missed his steps.
But he was far too concerned about Hazel’s whereabouts to think of himself at the moment.
This was surely not the way he pictured out how wedding day would be,and just like he was trying all things possible to stop feeling nervous about it.
His hunch was right, this isn’t some movie where he could actually wish for his wedding day to be perfect, and the fairy godmother answers his prayer.
This is his reality, the life of both of them which is at risk because of some murderer that is hellbent on doing God knows what to his angel.
But that won’t happen on his watch, not ever!
He wouldn’t let that happen,he can’t be disgraced and made into a bunch of caricatures for the country and his enemies to laugh at.
Hazel has endured enough, and he had promised to protect her and make their day special,he won’t let anything bad happen again.
"What the hell son,I’m on the phone with...’’Avery removed the phone from her ears, to give him a piece of her mind for intruding on her time with the designer of the hall.
But his face said it all that something doesn’t sit right with him,so she whispered something to the person on the other end before ending the call.
"Son,are you okay?"Grandpa asked, his attention moving towards Zaiden who went towards his ward and that of his parents without finding her there.
"The fuck,I’m not fine! Hazel’s not in the house mother"He announced, while his dad came into the sitting room as if he too was aware of what was going on,his face too was nothing good to write home about.
"What’s that supposed to mean? She’s not back yet?"Avery asked, standing up this time,to look at her time.
It’s really late.
She recalled Hazel telling her this afternoon that she was going out to have lunch with Sunny, but it’s way past lunch and dinner time, for the love of God,it’s a few minutes away for the time to hit twelve!
"You knew she went out and yet you weren’t concerned till this time?’’Zaiden asked his mother, who shaked her head at his words.
He got it all wrong.
"Zaiden, that’s enough,I won’t have you talking to your mother in that manner,it’s not her fault that Hazel is not her..."Ezekiel warned, his son’s was definitely losing it,but he won’t have him blame his wife when there’s a whole lot of reasons why she isn’t back.
But he was afraid to think of it being what his mind is telling him at the moment, nothing is going to happen to Hazel.
"Then, where the hell is my wife?"He bursted out in anger,at no one in particular.
"There’s no need to panic yet son, have you tried calling her?"Grandpa chipped in,he too was worried, but he can’t let his fears cloud his thinking just like his grandson.
His granddaughter- in-law is fine, she’s probably stuck in traffic, and her phone is down, that’s the reason for all this right?
He had actually waited for everyone to be back, so that he could call them for a family meeting to tell them the truth about Elijah, but it seems it’s not going to be possible today.
Hazel is missing, and this is going to be a big issue if they don’t calm down and think of where she could be.
They were all doing it wrong by assuming that everything was all about the murderer, when there’s a whole lot of reasons why she’s not back home.
Yey, it’s unlike Hazel to act this way, she’s not the type to stay out till now,so,what exactly do he pinpoint as it being the reason for all of these?
"It goes to voicemail father,I don’t want to lose her"Zaiden spoke, his voice cracking that it wouldn’t be long before he lost it.
"There’s no losing her son, where exactly did she go Avery?"Ezekiel asked. He is really stressed out today, coupled with finding out from the call that karma had caught up with Antonio, and his son has found out that he’s the reason why Isabella left.
And right now,his daughter in-law is nowhere to be found, with Zaiden on the line to lose his cool.
Can things not get any worse?
"She went out to meet her friend, Sunny,"Avery replied, dialing Hazel’s number with her eyes getting wet.
She was too busy with the wedding arrangements, not to notice that she’s not yet back, and it’s her fault for allowing her to go without any sort of protection.
It was just her and her driver.
"Do you have Sunny’s contact?"Ezekeil asked Zaiden, who nodded his head in denial.
" I’m so sorry son,it’s my fau..."
"No,it’s my fault for not paying much attention to her being here"Zaiden cut his mother shut, dipping his hand into his pocket to bring our his car keys, then turned to leave the room but a guard walked in,Hazel’s guard and kneeled down in front of them.
"It’s all my fault, sir"He pleaded, but Zaiden was in no mood to hear his silly confessions,he charged towards him in anger and tugged at his collar nearly choking him to death.
"Where the hell is my girl?!!"He yelled directly at him,and saw the colour drained from his face at the way he fisted his collar.
"That’s enough Zaiden,he’s going to be dead if you don’t let go of him this instant and let him talk ’’Ezekiel dragged his hand, which loosened at his father’s statement.
"Now,where exactly is my daughter in-law?’’Grandpa stood up this time, waking up to the guard who gulped a lump down his throat.
Old man Williams was aged, yet the intimating aura he carried along was enough for one to know that he’s not the man who you want to mess with.
"She met some lady near an orphanage?"He started to confess,he didn’t know if they would find this believable or not.
He doesn’t even know who the woman that was chasing after her was,or why she was crying and running away from her.
"An orphanage?"Avery asked confused,"She didn’t talk about going to an orphanage house,so,why is she there ?"
"Firstly, she had lunch with her friend, before going to meet another lady there, but that’s until something happened"He paused, the tension in the room was now much.
"What happened?Stop wasting my time and tell me exactly what my girl is up to,you scumbag!"
"She came out of the coffee shop where she met the lady, she was in a haste to leave until i saw some woman who was calling after her,the young miss took the keys forcefully and drove away, that’s all i know"
"And you think I’m too dump to believe what you just said?"Zaiden asked, scoffing at the man’s gut for lying to everyone.
"Zaiden seriously?"Avery called.
"It’s the truth sir"
"Mother please, for all we know, this is some cooked up story to avoid being punished, why would Hazel go to meet someone and then start crying in the same orphanage where she hates?"
As a matter of fact,Zaiden ’s words made some sense, but he was done wasting time with his parents who weren’t concerned about his girl.
He had to find Sunny.
Walking out on all of them, with his father and mother calling after him he doesn’t know if they followed him or not.
The gate was open already which made him walk over to his car to leave, but his annoying cousin bumped into his shoulders which made the keys fall from his hands onto the ground.
Was that intentional?
Yes.
"What the heck is wrong with you?’’He tugged at his collar, and drew him in with his fist raised up in anger to knock that annoying smirk off his face, had it been the lights from some unfamiliar car that didn’t have their attention.
Turning to face the car,so was Nathan who straightened his shirt likewise his parents and grandpa, who was out to know who exactly is in their compound.
The door was opened, with some man coming down from it but he couldn’t exactly make out the face of who it was yet, because his main attention was on the woman in his arms.
The woman, who was nobody but his angel,Hazel.
