365 Days To Love-Chapter 172 - ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY -TWO:A Greedy Fish Had Taken The Bait.
A tired groan left Ezekiel’s lips as he slumped on his seat, after seeing off his lawyer and a representative from both Anna and Micheal’s agencies
A press release was held which, as it was planned,Micheal’s company took care of every damage that their ward had caused both companies.
Whereas,Micheal, Anna’s Assistant Mia and director was put behind bars after the truth had come to light, Anna’s whereabouts were still unknown at the moment after she had released that viral video that was still trending online.
Not only was he exhausted,he knew that that is what was going to happen after the chief of staff had filled him in, on what was going on this morning.
Not only did he retain his position back,he had also gotten to see his stand and that of Zaiden in a day of this happening.
His brother was doing a good job infiltrating their lair, and trying to poison the mind of everyone towards his son.
Yet,his dad was doing nothing at stopping him or trying to teach him a lesson,rather he was in Canada doing god knows what without giving him a clue on what was going on.
Was it the fact that he’s an illegitimate son that had him treat Elijah differently? Or was it because he still had feelings for his late mother and is regretting why she died?
Sometimes,he doesn’t understand his dad at all,he knew it wasn’t his fault as he had claimed that Elijah’s mother drugged him and had her way with him.But yet,he was not acting as if he’s the least concerned with what Elijah was doing.
He wasn’t implying that his dad treats him differently,no that’s not it!
But a little fear would have him have a change of mind from what he’s trying to do, because he’s not so sure of Zaiden being lucky the next time something like this hits the company.
His dad might be less concerned about all these,but he won’t stand still and watch what rightfully belongs to his son gets stolen by his half brother, that’s not happening any time soon.
Which is why he’s going to take laws into his own hands, and do away with people that want to see him go down, starting with his brother, Elijah.
"Hey"Leonard came into his office, bringing him out of his thoughts as he sat up in his seat with a pleasant smile on his face.
"How does it feel sitting right there?’’Leonard asked when he stopped in front of him.
Ezekiel’s brow raised in a questioning manner ,not quite understanding what he meant,or maybe he was too tired to understand what he meant because last night he didn’t get a wink of sleep while waiting for the fish to catch the bait.
Reporter West was doing a slow job, by making his existence known to whosoever that sent him that picture.
A really slow job at that, because the chief of staff has got nothing from him after days of watching out for any signs of his brother or Nathan showing up.
"I just don’t understand how exactly it feels to sit in that chair,that would require your brother wearing a gloomy look throughout today because his plans didn’t work"Leonard said,You should have seen how a vein nearly popped through his brain when i gave him a teasing this morning"
Both men laughed at his words, because Ezekiel knew that what he was saying was true,a vein always popped out on Elijah’s temple when he’s angry and he could imagine how angry he was for Leonard to notice that too.
"So,what’s next?"He asked,sitting down this time with his leg crossed while watching Ezekiel who gave him a clumsy look.
"Oh! Come on,we both know he’s not going to fold his hands and watch you and Zaiden laugh, while he’s in sorrow,he’s going to do something which you also have to do something about that too, Elijah’s toxic. I don’t understand the reason why your dad is still keeping him here"
Leonard had also noticed it too,his dad was being preferential when it comes to Elijah,and it was not a good idea for someone who wants to take the Knights Empire to another level.
"How many years have you worked here?"Ezekeil asked out of the blue, surprising him for the sudden question when he had far more important things to do about Elijah.
"Why the sudden question man? Is something wro..."
"Answer the question Leo,your father worked alongside with my father before he retired right?"
"Yes that’s true,but i don’t see the reason why that’s any solution to the problem at hand"Leonard advised.
"Did your father ever mention any Megan to you?"
"No,why the sudden intr..."
"Elijah’s my half-brother"Ezekiel let the cat out of the bag,after it seems he couldn’t calm down for the question he was throwing at him, for his interest back to when his father worked with his dad.
"Wait! What? You are joking right?"Leonard asked unbelievably,was this some kind of joke or what?
Ezekiel doesn’t bring up fake conversations,and if it was true that Eli was his half brother that explains the hate between the both of them.
What the hell!
"How did you find out?"
"I did,a long time ago and that’s a family secret Leo,and i don’t think the bastard knows either, because if he did he won’t be acting too pompous and rude for someone who’s an illegitimate son"
"How did your father get to keep this hidden all these years, without him finding out? You know who Elijah is right?"
"I just don’t know Leo,which is why i need to know who exactly his mother was and how all these happened,I don’t trust my dad anymore since he’s keen on protecting Elijah irrespective of his attitude,"Ezekiel explained,hitting his hands on the table in a frustrating manner.
It was obvious to Leo that he was fed up with his dad’s manner of treating Elijah differently, even when he’s messing up with what took him years of hard work to build,he hasn’t said anything.
"But come to think of it,I don’t see the reason why Elijah would be such a bad egg if he hasn’t found out that he’s an illegitimate son"Leonard added,there’s no way Elijah doesn’t know.
"What are you trying to imply?That he knows that he’s not a full fledged Knight and that’s why he is rebelling against everyone?"Ezekiel didn’t buy this,"Gee,we all know that’s not possible"
"Well,you seem to forget that everything seem to be possible when it comes to Elijah,why do you think he’s keen on bringing his real brother down?so that he could sit on that seat if he has no idea where his stand is in the family"
Leo has a point,but Ezekiel was still finding it hard to believe but there’s some truth in what he was saying.
What if the Bastard knows who exactly he is?
"So,what are you going to do? let’s assume that he knows who he is, and he’s the one who’s behind everything that’s happening lately both at home?"
"Maybe i have been looking for answers in the wrong directions"Ezekiel mumbled to himself,while recalling the moments he had centered his attention on Nathan, thinking he’s the one who hellbent on destroying the family.
If it’s true that Elijah knows that he’s an illegitimate child,there’s absolutely no way he would let his son and wife find out.
Sophia would leave him, because it’s clear to them that she was just there for the money, and Nathan he’s not so sure about him taking things lightly with anyone once he knows of this.
The night of the murder,that call he had,the look on his face the following morning when it was announced that a murder has veen committed.
He didn’t look dazed for someone who it was his first time having experienced such,but the shocked expression on Nathan’s face when he had the chief of staff sent him that message the second time was still worth it.
It could be any of them.
His brother wouldn’t leave any thing that could implicate him if he was the murderer, likewise Nathan who no one knows what the hell is going on in his mind, he’s hard like a rock.
But Ezekeil knew that he had to make a move now, and ensure that things were in order before two days’ time.
He wouldn’t want his son’s wedding ceremony to be some sort of caricature,just like Anna’s case had brought down the level of respect people had for them, coupled with the murder that took place at the family house.
His phone ringing stopped, bringing him out of his thoughts and also halted Leonard from saying further about the new information he had on Elijah.
The chief of staff was calling.
He picked the call with all anxiousness in him,which was hoping that the fish had taken the bait,and just like he had predicted.
"He’s on the move"The chief of staff said,watching from far away with his binoculars atop a building as Reporter West arrived at an abandoned warehouse, waiting for whosoever that sent him those pictures to appear.
He had received a call today which had demanded that they meet up,the location was chosen by the suspect and he had complied while alerting Ezekiel what’s up.
"Keep me posted,I’m on my way there"Ezekiel said with all smiles, cutting the call while taking his car keys.
"Are you leaving already?It’s just ten"Leonard asked,which irritated Ezekiel because he’s asking silly questions.
"A greedy fish had taken the bait i set Leonard"Ezekiel replied,the look on his face showing that he didn’t understand what he meant.
But that would continue to stay that way for the time being,he didn’t want him being too involved in these.
Wearing his blazer,he patted Leonard’s shoulder,"Take care of things,I will be back in a short while"And with that,he left the curious Leonard who was going to make him go late to witness who the hell was playing pranks on his family.
He will be sorry for showing up,he definitely will.
