"Hey"James called the attention of Isabella, the moment her eyes switched open,staring up at nothing.

Turning to the position of where the sound of the voice was coming from,the bags under the eyes of james were enough to tell her that he has not been able to sleep for days now.

The question.

What happened?

She couldn’t remember anything else, rather than the last talk she had with him about the death of her child, everything else couldn’t come to her at the moment.

"Are you okay?"James asked, concern filled his tone, because Bella scared shit out of him by passing out in his arms.

Touching her temple to check if she was okay, and was no longer having any fever,he sighed in relief.

These few days had been difficult for him,that he had scared Mary when she saw his form yesterday,and not only did he scare her for tiring himself out for Bella.

Mary was pissed off,she had out of annoyance told him to get Bella out of their lives,the only good thing she had ever brought to them had been nothing but pain.

He couldn’t blame Mary.

He was at fault here,he didn’t talk it out with her before bringing Bella into their lives,but what would you have him do?

Mary had been more of a heartache to him, these past few years as if it was his fault, that her real mother was dead and he took on a second wife.

He was angry at himself for getting his daughter angry, because yesterday had clearly shown him that she was not, in any way accepting Bella as her mother.

He didn’t know what to do anymore,he didn’t know if it was the right thing to tell Mary about his relationship with Bella.

But doing that wouldn’t change anything,it was not going to change the fact that she doesn’t like her,rather,it would give her more liberty to get Bella walking out of their lives willingly,which he doesn’t want that happening anytime.

Aside from the stress of Mary,he had a bad nightmare yesterday which had been about Bella leaving him for Antonio.

He was always scared of this,and he knew that was bound to happen anytime soon,but Bella was doing good at pretending that she was not going to go to her husband if he came knocking.

He didn’t know if she meant it or not,but the dream felt real.

Bella had strictly, made it clear to him that she was not in any way interested in any relationship at the moment.

But he couldn’t let go,he loved Bella,maybe more than he had ever loved Mary’s mother and he was a big fool for still persisting when she had made her intention known to him.

But if being a big fool was what is going to make Bella love him,he doesn’t care,but he knew he was losing Mary.

It hurt.

Caught up in the decision of doing what she wants and listening to his heart,he was in the middle of the devil and the deep blue sea.

Bella herself won’t object if Mary makes it known that she needs to leave, because he knew Mary was going to do that once she heard she’s awake.

She was going to leave,but not now,she still had a few things to do which were of big importance and she still needed his help.

After that,she was going to disappear from his life, which she had said after she had complained about the death of her child.

As hurting as it sounds, James didn’t really buy the idea of what she told him about her child’s death.

Yeah,the feeling was strong which he didn’t know if it was just his mere instinct to make Bella feel good or what.

But he knew something was definitely wrong somewhere.

She can’t just conclude with a mere photo that her child was dead,besides she had said that the blanket which had been the only belonging she gave her was not given back to her.

How do they expect her to believe what they said about her child, if they can’t provide the only belonging that she was with?

They wouldn’t have buried her with the wrap right?

Besides,who she met that day had been the daughter of the woman who took her child,she could be lying.

His assumption wasn’t backup yet,but the Nun had to be lying, Bella’s child couldn’t have died just like that.

"James"Isabella called out more loudly and he jerked looking at her when he realized he was out a few seconds ago.

"Yes baby,I’m sorry"

"What happened?’’She asked,trying to sit up but winced in pain when a migraine came knocking.

"You have to rest Bella,you need it"James advised,helping her lay down,and covered her with the sheets,as she stared at him,not liking what she saw.

"How long have i been out? What happened janes,you look horrible"She said with distaste,touching his cheeks with her other hand since the right hand was on IV.

"It’s nothing baby,you would have done so in my stead,I will be fine,how are you feeling?"James smiled.

He was not interested in telling her how he had stayed up for two nights straight,watching her sleep while praying she gets back to her normal self once she wakes up.

Since she hasn’t talked about her dead child,he was relieved.

"Fine i guess,Mary? How’s she?"Isabella asked all of a sudden,which surprised James.

It seems Mary got it all wrong after all,she thinks Bella doesn’t like her but here she was asking for her on her sick bed.

If only Mary was not stubborn,the two would bond well,which had been his earnest wish while he brought her to live with him.

It warmed his heart hearing her ask of Mary and not lament about her child who was probably not dead.

"She’s f..."Jane’s statement was caught short by Mary calling his name and entering his room with her iPad in hand.

"Dad,have you seen the news?"She asked,moving along to see her stepmom was awake.

She thought she was going to sleep for ages,and stress her dad more.

"Hi"She casually said,not knowing what to ask at the moment,she couldn’t ask her how she was feeling because she was still angry at her.

Yeah,she might have talked to her that night and felt pity after listening to get talk and knew that she was hurt by someone she loved.

She couldn’t bear the fact that maybe she was also going to hurt his dad,but what would you have her do when his dad was not willing to give her a listening ear at the possibility of her having ulterior motives?

"How are you doing Mary?"Bella asked , ignoring her attitude.

When will she ever learn?

"Have you called Sir Ezekeil?"She ignored her question with a question directed at her dad and got both their interest.

"What is it about him?’’He asked, trying hard not to reprimand her for insulting Bella, in his presence by ignoring her entire existence.

Pushing the phone to her dad,who took it from her hands to scroll through the latest news about his friend.

His face changed instantly,what exactly is going on?

"What is it about him, James? Did something bad happen?"Bella asked, her mind rushing to ask about Avery before Mary beats her to it by asking her a question.

"Do you know him?"Mary asked, suspiciously.

"This is bad,how did Zaiden get caught up in all these when he had a Fianceè? their wedding is just four days ahead"James asked annoyingly,taking his phone out.

"That’s what happens when you get involved with a commoner,I mean dad,this all started because he got engaged with that lowlife and not me"

"Mary seriously?"James asked,not understanding his daughter at all.

Why would she put the balme on an innocent girl, who’s life was also threatened by the murder whos still out there planning God knows what.

"Dad,we all know that’s the truth,all of these won’t have happened if i got engaged to him instead of Hazel"

"And we all know that you are the one at fault for not getting engaged to him, because you have been wasting time being such a bratty princess rejecting every suitor that comes your way,"James reminds her,since she’s looking for silly excuses to cover up her mistakes.

He doesn’t know what exactly was going on yet,but he won’t allow his daughter to blame that innocent soul,she called a low life for something that had nothing to do with her.

"Dad"she called a bit pissed at his words,maybe a lot more for doing that Infront of her stepmother

"Let me ask you a question Mary?’’Bella asked, sitting up and this time she wasn’t feeling dizzy anymore.

"What exactly, stepmom?"she asked, folding her hands.

"Mary,that’s enough!"James thundered,but got her rolling her eyes at him instead.

"James"Bella called him,he had forgotten so soon that she’s sick and his shouting was not helping at all.

Mary needed someone, to tell her what exactly is wrong with her straight in her face,and if that’s what is going to get her to start thinking straight,she would do her the honours.

After all,she’s her stepmother.

That’s what she’s made to believe,so she’s going to use that to her benefit.

James looked lastly at Mary, because he knew she was about to get a reprimanding which she’s not going to like,before leaving the room for the both of them.

His phone rang,taking it out of his pocket to see Ezekeil calling back,he heard Mary’s yellings and her storming angrily back to her room.

With a sigh escaping his lips,while picking up the call,he knew Bella had done it again,and Mary needed to grow up.
