Chapter 151: Chapter ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE: Greediness Is A Bitch!

Life is good when there’s money.

These had been Susan’s favourite words, at the moment because of how magically her life had been transformed after meeting Mrs.Brown.

The cheque had done more good than harm to the young lady, who had been living the life of a princess for days after she had thought of coming clean to the woman and returning the money back.

But the thoughts of what one million can do to her messed up life as a nun blinded the principles which her mom had tried to inculcate in her as a child which she failed to learn.

Greed was the greatest temptation for a man.

Her mother,Lady Morgana would always say whenever she was addressing her and the sisters.

She had moved on, to let them know that no matter the tribulation and aspect life may come on them,as a nun that is a mother to the children.

Greed was the greatest sin that can bring a man down, one might say that it was just a one time thing and indulge in it.

But the devil has its own way to tempt people, that a one time thing can happen more than once and before one could realize what is going on.

It would be late, and also lose himself in it as well.

This is what Susan had ignored, while knowing of the complication that was set to arise if things didn’t go the way she initiated it in the beginning.

She didn’t stop to think of Hazel’s mother finding out that she was being lied to.

She also didn’t really think of the fact of Hazel bumping into her mother, after all,the world was a small place no matter how big it seemed.

But the greediness, and the self will to better her life even if it’s just for a month blinded Susan’s eye to all these.

She too,had forgotten that she had gone against her belief as a nun, and had sinned against God.

She denied a mother the right to see her child, simply because of the hatred she had for the child.

Her mother would be so shocked, and disappointed at her for what she did,but maybe that was for the best.

After all,if Hazel had relocated to somewhere far away from here, she wouldn’t know about her whereabouts,so Susan tried to assure herself that she did nothing wrong.

Besides, she didn’t beg the lady for the money, her belief was against taking bribes but the lady had been the one who insisted.

She did nothing wrong.

That had been her words of assurance to herself, when she spends the money lavishly on things they weren’t of much importance, while knowing where the money came from.

The guilt might have started eating Susan up,but the damage has already been done.

How was she going to fix everything back and tell the lady the truth when she wasn’t even with her contact?

The sleepless night, and the dream about Hazel yesterday night gave her the initiative that something was wrong.

That was the first time she was dreaming of Hazel after years of her leaving the orphanage.

Not only that, she knew this was a sign that the lord was not happy with her for what she did.

Which resulted in her using half of the money to get essential things that were needed in the orphanage.

Maybe that would help clear her mind from the guilt that was eating her up,after all,she did good with the money.

No matter how bad she might have despised Hazel,in the end she was still with her mother and Hazel was not around lately, which leaves her with her mother, who was sick.

Her mother didn’t know what she did,and she preferred it remained that way which she doubted she didn’t know.

Because her eating arrangements had changed, thanks to her,she didn’t ask if anything special happened.

Which Susan found suspicious, she knew her mother, was it the sickness that made her feel so out of the world to not realize that there’s been some changes? Or was she just pretending? Her silence didn’t do much harm to Susan, after all it was better that way.She didn’t actually know what she would say when she asked what exactly was happening.

The only person who seemed to be getting her annoyed, and antsy was sister Jane, who didn’t accept the gift she gave her, after she had gotten everyone a little gift.

She was such a goody two shoes, and a perfectionist that she had demanded how she got the money,to get all she was gifting everyone with.

She was too nosy, which Susan disliked, and too disrespectful for someone who was under her.

Her behaviour reminded her of that bitch,Hazel, who had once made her stay her a living hell.

She was such a perfectionist and acts as if she hasn’t taken a bribe before.

Like seriously,it’s evident that once in a while they all get tips from people who come around steadily to visit the children.

But here she was, asking her how she got the money to get things which no one was willingly to give to the orphanage.

She should be grateful to God, that such a blessing had fallen on the orphanage and stop asking silly questions.

Susan understood where all these were coming from, she had seen Mrs.Brown that day leave her office in tears and had wanted to know what exactly was her problem.

Anyone could tell she was rich, which was the reason why Jane was suspecting she took a bribe from her.

How dare she!

The likes of her didn’t deserve what she was offering, and Susan regretted ever having to get anything for her.

After all,she too doesn’t give her any of her money the visitors always gifts her.

Greedy.

That’s what she was,she was simply trying to know exactly the amount that was given so that she could approach Mrs.Brown the next time she comes here.

So sorry for her greedy soul, because Susan knew the woman was not coming anytime soon unless she figured it was a lie or she wanted to adopt a child.

That’s what she was supposed to do,there were a lot of kids here which she could sponsor that needed such a lovely mother, and not a grown up who was better off without her.

She couldn’t understand why she wanted to find Hazel in the first place, she’s a grown up and doesn’t deserve whatever she had to offer as a mother, which she got from her own mother.

Smiling to herself when she saw the account balance and the remaining money which was still enough.

She took the gift she bought for her mother, humming a song to herself while walking to her mother’s quarters.

The happy smiles on everyone’s face, when they saw her and greeted her gave her immense joy.

That was the way things should be,they should respect her and look up to her as their God, after all, she’s the one incharge here.

"Hey mommy"She called, closing the door before her, as Lady Morgana dropped the bible she was done having a quiet time with, before looking up at her daughter.

A line was visible on her face while studying her daughter to notice that something had changed in her. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

For the very first time she looked more than happy to be here, because she wasn’t happy serving these little kids while growing up as a child.

Susan had been a difficult child while growing up, and the way she had taken the duty from where she stopped was what still baffled her till today.

Although, she knew she wasn’t doing it wholeheartedly, she couldn’t quite tell why exactly she chose this part like her too.

Now, standing in front of her was her happy daughter who had a shopping bag with her, that’s odd.

Did she win the lottery?

Lady Morgana could tell, that something else was the harbinger of this smiling face of daughter,it’s been years since she saw her this happy.

"Here,I got you something"Susan said, giving the bag to her mother who took it with questioning eyes as she sat down in front of her, waiting for her to bring the questions on.

That’s all she was perfect in,asking silly questions that didn’t make any sense even when a question wasn’t required.

"Where did you get the money?"

Just as she had predicted.

"I was tipped"She saw, yawning while stretching her limbs Infront of her, suddenly feeling sleepy, after all,it’s been a long day.

"By who?"Lady Morgana dropped the bag aside, putting her spectacles to watch her clearly "I heard of your appreciation towards the sister’s"

"How do you know that?"Susan asked, gasping at how news flies around her,no one was capable of telling her mother aside from that pig, Jane.

"Just because I’m sick doesn’t mean i don’t have ears and eyes,so,who exactly gifted you such an amount of money to buy all that?"

"Just someone"Susan said, biting her bottom lips and avoiding her mother’s gaze, but the hand she hit on her table brought her senses back to who Lady Morgana was.

"Look at me when I’m talking to you young lady!"She yelled,"How much are we talking about here and why would someone give you such a large amount of money just as a gift?"

"Why are you shouting at me? I didn’t steal for you to be acting like this"She reacted, angry at her money for invading her privacy.

Why ask such a question?

Doesn’t she trust her?

"Are you for real?Did you accept a bribe? Is that it!"

"Can you just stop already?"Susan shouted, surprising her mother."Just stop!"

"You.."

"You just like showing me every time that I’m not your real child, because if i am,you will stop treating me as if am some worker here and treat me the way a mother treat’s her daughter"

"What are you even talking about? You are my daught..."

Standing up in annoyance,"tell that to your favourite child Hazel"walking for the door, while her mother called.

With her guilty conscience still affecting her,she knew her mother did nothing wrong in asking her all those questions.

She was just scared, because the guilt about how the money came had seeped in,and it was only a matter of time before she lost her mind with everyone asking how exactly she got the money.

Greediness is a bitch!
