Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Without You, Daddy Might Have Lost Mommy

Jenson thought she was eager to contact Yara, so he leaned over and took her phone from the bedside cabinet.

After Zinnia turned on the phone, she excitedly opened a recording file and said to Jenson.

"Lie down, quickly." Zinnia urged.

Not knowing what she was up to, Jenson raised an eyebrow but indulgently lay down on the hospital bed.

"Close your eyes, I have something for you to hear."

Jenson obediently closed his eyes, a slight curve at the corners.

Zinnia lay down beside the man, pulled his large hand onto her small abdomen.

Then she played the encrypted audio, closing her eyes as well.

Woosh, woosh...

The sound like a little train starting up echoed in their ears, with Zinnia covering Jenson’s hand, smiling as she spoke.

"Hubby, do you hear it? It’s our Coco’s heartbeat."

Last time, Joy Kramer accompanied Zinnia for a prenatal check-up, and it was Joy who recorded this segment of the fetal heartbeat.

Zinnia always kept it on her phone, often playing it back.

She was now eager to share it with Jenson, to tell him that their Coco was healthy and truly about to come into this world to meet them.

Listening to that sound, Jenson didn’t understand initially what it was.

When he heard Zinnia say it was the baby’s heartbeat, the man’s large hand, resting on her abdomen, trembled slightly.

A bit at a loss, he was also afraid of pressing on her belly.

The magical feeling struck his heart, surging with emotion, his Adam’s apple rolled slightly, speechless for a long time.

In his heart, he silently said.

Such a considerate, good child, daddy will add a chicken drumstick for you when you’re born.

If not for you, daddy might have lost your mom.

"Third brother? Jenson, don’t you have anything to say?"

When Zinnia didn’t hear Jenson say anything for a while, she opened her eyes.

The audio had finished playing, yet Jenson was still lying there motionless, his face incomparably calm.

Zinnia suspected he might have fallen asleep, feeling a bit upset, she called out and pushed Jenson.

Jenson finally opened his eyes, "Is he driving a train in your belly?"

Zinnia, "..."

The first time she heard the fetal heartbeat, she was so moved she cried, yet his reaction was like this! 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

She softly snorted, "Don’t you have anything nicer to say?"

Jenson lightly hooked his thin lips, leaned closer, and said to Zinnia, "Just now, you called me hubby, be good, call me again."

Zinnia paused, her cheeks turning rosy.

This guy’s focus is always so strange!

She glared at Jenson playfully and said stubbornly, "Did I call you that? You misheard."

Just now, they were snuggled together, listening to the baby’s heartbeat.

Their hands caressed Coco together, the feeling was blissful and satisfying, like a family of three.

Overwhelmed by emotion, she unconsciously called out.

But now, under Jenson’s deep, ink-like gaze teasing her, Zinnia was too embarrassed to call him that again.

Jenson, however, wouldn’t let her escape, his presence moving closer.

"If you don’t call, I’ll kiss you."

Zinnia’s face was burning, a clever glimmer flashed in her bright eyes, she tilted her head slightly and brought her red lips forward first.

Jenson froze, then his breathing turned slightly ragged, taking control to deepen the kiss.

In the warm winter sunshine, they kissed each other passionately, Zinnia closing her eyes, never feeling as close to him as at this moment.

She felt their hearts were close, she thought that even if Jenson didn’t love her now, eventually he would love her as much as she loved him.

Even if it’s just a little less, it doesn’t matter.

But Zinnia forgot, the tree wants to be still but the wind won’t stop, some things always don’t go as one wishes, hard to go smoothly.

Jenson, with injuries, hadn’t slept all night, after a while of kissing, Zinnia pushed him away, urging him to rest.

The man tightened his arms, quickly fell asleep, yet didn’t let go of Zinnia.

Only after he was completely asleep did Zinnia gently remove his arms and got off the hospital bed.

She bent over and gently lifted Jenson’s hospital gown, seeing the thick bandages wrapped around his waist and abdomen, her eyes welled with red.

Although she couldn’t see the wound, such thick bandages meant it was very serious.

Jenson and Eighth were both panda blood types. Losing that much blood, probably wasn’t transfused in time either.

The man’s complexion wasn’t good, even his lips were pale and faint.

Zinnia tenderly kissed Jenson’s cheek before quietly leaving the ward.

Yara must be worried sick, she needed to contact Yara quickly.

Going downstairs, Zinnia made a call.

Yara hurriedly answered, "Zinnia, are you okay? That dog Forrest didn’t do anything to you?"

She was about to die of worry, that day when Jenson found out Zinnia was pregnant, the aura around him as he left was terrifying.

After that, Yara couldn’t reach Zinnia, only knowing she was brought back by Jenson.

She pleaded with Finn Quinn to help gather information, but that dog Finn, true to being Jenson Forrest’s good buddy, inherited that dog trait.

He actually used this to enslave her for two days, yet didn’t gather any useful information, totally useless.

Yara suspected if Finn and Jenson were plastic brothers-in-arms.

"Yara I’m fine..."

Zinnia roughly recounted the past two days to Yara, and Yara mentioned what happened that day when she and Joy bumped into Jenson.

Only then did Zinnia realize what was going on, she asked worriedly.

"He didn’t make things difficult for you guys, right? Is Joy okay?"

"That dog Mr. Forrest was in a hurry to chase you, had no time to mind us, Joy was a little shocked, but she’s okay."

Zinnia felt very apologetic, "Yara, please contact Joy, I want to invite her to a meal to apologize."

Yara readily agreed, not at ease with Zinnia, so they arranged to meet at a nearby café to the hospital.

Zinnia hung up the phone, just looking up, she saw three familiar mummy-like figures.

They were called mummies because all three had their heads and faces wrapped in white bandages, only their eyes were exposed.

If it were just one walking in the hospital, it would be alright, considering all sorts of patients could be in a hospital.

But three mummies walking together seemed too eye-catching, hard to explain the comic relief.

Zinnia was feeling it was wrong to lack empathy, when the three mummies, perhaps sensing her gaze, turned their heads to look.

Through the wrapped bandages, three unsettling pairs of eyes peered out, Zinnia’s eyes widened in shock.

It was Gloria Grant, Angus Grant, and Holly Tilton.

How did they become like this?

While shocked, Zinnia was also cautious, standing up subconsciously scanning her surroundings.

She wasn’t alone now, she was a mom, needing to protect Coco.

She knew all too well how difficult these three could be.

Yet, Gloria and the two others only cast a vicious glare her way from afar and turned to run.

Zinnia, "??"

She was a bit bewildered but didn’t dwell on it much, arriving at the arranged café, Yara hadn’t arrived yet.

Just as she pushed open the café door, she heard two familiar voices.

"If that phony rich daughter Zinnia hadn’t snatched away my third brother, Crystal would have long been my sister-in-law." It was Sienna.

Rose Lowell chimed in, "Young Master Forrest even gave Crystal a small planet, something that doesn’t happen with money, the procedures are very cumbersome."

"Yes, I also know that naming a small planet is international and permanent, even after decades, a hundred years, that star remains unique, unchangeable. Young Master Forrest is so romantic, quite unexpected."

"Zinnia not only snatched Little Crystal’s rightful position but climbed into bed to steal Little Crystal’s marriage, how come there’s such a shameless woman like her? If not for her, Little Crystal and Young Master Forrest, so in love, would have long become a couple."
