Chapter 76: The Princess Bed

Lily would be his, his alone, ultimately. He couldn’t put it down.

Lily’s body slightly trembled from sobbing: "Alex, you have a fiancée. You said in front of all the media that you love her. What do you take her for like this? And what do you take me for?"

Like this moment of clarity, Alex’s hand fell. Tears flowed across her cheeks, but she did not cry out.

Alex once again embraced her shoulders, apologizing repeatedly, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Lily. I’m sorry."

It’s okay. Smelling the minty aroma of his body, Lily repeatedly said in her heart, "It’s okay because I love you. So it doesn’t matter how it is." She would never blame him or be angry with him.

"Mr. Carter, Miss Anderson, the meal is ready."

Henry, dressed in his butler uniform, stood at the doorway and announced at the perfect moment.

Only then did Alex let go of Lily and push her outside. Henry smiled and handed her a clean handkerchief.

"Thank you."

Lily expressed her gratitude with a smile.

The dinner table was set outside, creating a feast for the senses. Fragrant flowers and plants filled the air with delightful scents. The sea gently lapped at the shore in a soothing rhythm. Dining in such a setting was truly one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Lily and Alex sat face to face, and Henry picked up the red bottle that had already been opened and poured wine into their glasses.

Lily had just picked up her glass when Alex gently reminded her, "Drink less; you have a weak stomach."

"Uh-huh."

Lily nodded and took a shallow taste, the flavor of the red wine slightly intoxicated.

The following two did not speak, quietly eating, probably because the kiss had almost been misplaced just now; the two were more or less embarrassed. Alex did not say anything.

Lily cut the steak on her plate while listening to seabirds and waves from afar. She should have recorded this sound; after leaving this place, she needed to understand how long it would be before she could hear such natural sounds.

"Eat this from me." Alex pushed the plate of cut steak in front of her, replacing the steak she cut ’messily’ in front of herself.

It belonged to Alex’s gentle, gentlemanly demeanor. Lily ate silently. Alex’s cell phone suddenly rang; it was Chopin’s piano music.

Alex wiped his mouth before picking up the phone. His voice was consistently low and gentle: "Alice."

The fork in Lily’s hand slid hard across the plate, making a sharp and ear-piercing sound.

Alex looked at her pale face in shock, as if he understood something, and left his seat, walking some distance away to make a phone call.

Staring at the steak on the plate, which had been cut into small pieces, Lily’s mind went blank. The steak was chewed down, completely flavorless.

Alex stood there with his back to her on the phone, chatting for a long time, looking back at her occasionally with indescribably complicated eyes.

Lily had almost eaten all the steak on her plate when he returned from the phone.

"Why didn’t you eat the foie gras? I’ll cut it for you." Alex pulled out a chair and sat down.

"When will you send me back?" Lily put down her silver fork. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

The two said simultaneously, Alex’s face color stiffened, "Stay here for the night."

In her dreams, she must sleep on a princess bed and listen to the sound of the waves until she falls asleep. He insisted on helping her fulfill her dream every step of the way. How could she not know his mind? But she coveted every moment she could stay by Alex’s side, and at the same time, she was afraid—afraid of something, afraid of so many things.

"I want to go back."

"Stay here for one night, just one night." Alex insisted doggedly, "I’ll send you back first thing in the morning, okay?"

Lily didn’t insist anymore; compared to stubbornness, she was far less than Alex. Half a day is lost, and a day is also lost. Let her face Ethan again tomorrow.

After the meal, Lily played with Bobi in the garden. Bobi is an adorable dog and would do a lot of tricks in front of her, which made Lily very happy. If it weren’t for her inability to walk on her legs right now, she would like to take Bobi for a walk on the beach. This was one of her dreams.

"Bobi, eat the cookies."

Lily held a handful of cookies and shook them at Bobi, who stood outside the fence and ran into the garden in a hurdle-jumping stance, rushing to her. With a roll of his tongue, Bobi swept up all the dog cookies in her hand, crunching and eating them with gusto.

"Good boy."

Lily sat in her wheelchair and rubbed its head, stretching out her hand and shaking it, "Come on, Bobi, shake hands."

Lily sat in the wheelchair and rubbed its head, stretching her hand and shaking it, "Come, Bobi, shake hands."

Bobi immediately obediently stretched out his front paws and shook her hand, sliding his paws across his face again to act cute. Lily couldn’t help but be amused and laughed, having fun with Bobbi.

Alex walked into the garden with a basin of water. When he saw Lily and Bobi playing and sticking together, the corners of his lips couldn’t help but curl up into a smile: "Bobi, don’t bully the mistress."

Lily raised her head to look at Alex’s face and couldn’t help but think back to the almost-disappearing kiss. How did it develop to this point, she and Alex?

Bobi heard Alex speak and immediately wailed twice. Sitting obediently by Lily’s side, she couldn’t help but go back to ’touching’ its head: "Bobi is so good."

"Bobi is so naughty." Alex brought steaming water to her feet, and while rolling up his sleeves, he looked at Bobby and said, "Henry said that young people nowadays don’t let dogs call their masters anymore."

"Then what’s the name?" Lily asked, following his words.

"Daddy, Mommy." Alex rolled his sleeves up and patted Bobi’s furry head, gently saying, "Bobi, call Mommy."

Bobi immediately landed on both feet and stood up, hitching his two front paws, "Ow ow ow..."

Alex smiled.

Lily looked at his arched eyebrows in silence. Her look was a little stiff. Calling Mommy wasn’t for her either, was it? That also belonged to Alice Johnson.

"What is it?" Lily changed the topic without showing any traces, her eyes falling on the pot of water by her feet, which looked a little cloudy.

"Henry, for you to soak your feet, especially went to buy Chinese herbs, all used to treat sprains."

It was after she said this that Lily smelled a strong odor of Chinese herbs.

Alex squatted in front of her, reached out to explore the temperature of the water, removed the shoes and socks on her feet, removed the gauze, and gently gripped her ankles to slowly put her feet into the water.

The water basin looked steaming hot, but the temperature was just right; Alice was comfortably warm.

"I’ll just wash it myself." Lily bent down and tried to push his hand away; Alex held her hand with a severe and persistent look, "Sit still, I’ll help you wash it."

"Ow ow ow...," Bobi sat beside her and followed the call.

Alex smiled shallowly, his brown ’colored’ eyes looking at Lily, "Bobi is also in favor of Daddy."

"I’m not its mistress."

Lily’s voice dimmed Alex’s bright eyes again, and Alex hooked his lips somewhat bitterly, "This is what I sent you, so you’re naturally Bobi’s owner."

After saying that, Alex lowered his head and rubbed her feet, which were soaking in the ’medicinal’ water.

"Alex, I’m just a guest in your house."

Alex’s hand rubbing her ankles gave a start. He raised his head, gazed at her beautiful face, and said with extra seriousness, "This villa is a dream house that belongs exclusively to Lily, and in addition to you, there will not be a second owner."

"Alex..."

"Even if you don’t like these now, reluctantly accept it... can’t you?" Alex’s eyes carried expectations.

This dreamhouse consumed a lot of effort. From the beginning, she was just crazy about buying her favorite things, to later on their own deliberately learning design, system villa design drawings, and then the villa interior decoration. Every step of the way, he did it himself. Just for the sake of building a dreamhouse closest to Lily’s dream, he was able to make her happy the day he found her.

Looking at Alex’s hope in her eyes, Lily’s words of refusal were blocked in her throat. She didn’t say yes, nor did she say no; there was only silence. Just like it suits her, she does not want but can not afford to.

"Ow ow ow..." Bobi barked at the side, timely unlocking this atmosphere of silence.

The conversation between the two began to center around Bobbi, the one topic that didn’t have a minefield between them.

"Does Bobi ’run around’?"

"Yes. When I didn’t train him before, he would always run out blindly whenever the door was open and play in the mud before coming back."

"So naughty?"

"He won’t eat dog food properly; he just likes to drink cow’s milk."

"How did you get the name Bobi?"

"His mom’s name is Hippy."

Alex patiently answered her questions, burying his head and concentrating on rubbing her feet. His strength was gentle and light, making her comfortable.

Night came quickly. Lily was lying alone on the large princess bed, tossing and turning without sleep. A lamp without light and a crystal chandelier illuminate this dreamy and lovely room; Alex is entirely about her childhood preferences for decoration design, lace cloth silk, and a whole cabinet of dolls and Muppet bears...everything is very dreamy.
