Chapter 115: Not Handsome Than You

Lily was shocked enough to sober up a little. She shook her head, trying to clear her vision, and saw Sophia in front of her, frantically scratching at her arms, which were now covered in red welts and hives.

"Let’s go, I’m taking you to the hospital."

"But it’s you who’s heartbroken—aren’t I supposed to be the one comforting you?"

"..."

That’s right—it was supposed to be Lily who needed comfort and care.

No.

Lily didn’t need anyone to take care of her. She had always taken care of herself.

Since she’d had to rely on others, she had learned to live by caring for herself.

With a trembling hand, she removed the Tears of Airlie ring from her finger and tossed it onto the dresser.

Lily’s body shook as she helped the unsteady Sophia out of the apartment.

Starting today, she would tear away the label of Ethan Blackwood and return to being Lily Anderson.

Hopefully, she could still find her way back...

Her head felt like it had exploded, the pain splitting it apart.

Ethan woke up in bed, pressing a hand to his aching head. He reached out to hit the intercom button, only to realize that this wasn’t the Blackwood villa—it was the hotel’s presidential suite.

The bed sheets were rumpled, and the bed was dotted with the unmistakable evidence of a night of passion.

Where’s the noodles?

After the car accident, he had been unconscious for a day and a night, then bedridden for another three days. The food the Nanny had brought him was completely inedible—just seeing it made him lose his appetite.

He wanted to eat the noodles Lily made.

Where are the noodles?

Didn’t he tell Nanny to get them?

Slowly, his memories began to return, and his thoughts became more apparent.

Nanny had brought the noodles, but he didn’t eat them. The moment he thought of Lily, his rage had flared up. He had smashed the bowl of noodles and started drinking instead.

Ungrateful woman.

Wasn’t he treating her well enough? And she repaid him by betraying him, by putting a green hat on him!

It was the first car accident he had ever had since learning to drive—and it wasn’t even that serious.

"Nanny! Nanny!"

Ethan shouted in frustration, rubbing his throbbing forehead. It had been a long time since he’d had a hangover.

The door opened, and Cipher, wearing his usual dark sunglasses, stood at the entrance. His expression was blank, but his tone was respectful. "Nanny didn’t come."

"Tell her to bring me a change of clothes!"

"Yes, sir."

Cipher turned to leave.

"Where’s Lily?" Ethan asked coldly, his eyes narrowing. Where’s that woman run off to now?

"Miss Anderson is gone," Cipher replied matter-of-factly.

"Gone? Where?"

"I don’t know."

A cold light flashed in Ethan’s eyes. "What did you just say?! Are you an idiot? You let her escape?!"

She dared to run away!

She’s asking for it!

"Miss Anderson didn’t escape. You... told her to get lost," Cipher hesitated but spoke honestly.

"Bullshit!" Ethan snarled. I’d never tell Lily to leave. I haven’t even finished punishing her yet—why would I let her go?

"Yesterday, you told her to get lost. You said you never wanted to see her again."

Cipher’s words were sincere and to the point.

For a moment, Ethan’s memories were jumbled.

He had drunk too much last night and couldn’t remember a thing. His voice turned frosty. "Then what are you standing here for?! Find her! Bring her back to me immediately!"

Does Lily think she can walk away from me just like that?

As if it were that easy!

"Yes, sir," Cipher nodded and turned to leave, but just then, Nanny burst into the room, out of breath and flustered. "Mr. Blackwood, something’s wrong! I just went to the hospital to handle your discharge papers and saw Miss Anderson. She had bandages on her head and hands. I tried to ask her what happened, but she said she had nothing to do with you anymore.

Ethan’s face turned ashen.

Nothing to do with me anymore?!

She’s determined to get away from me...

Does she think she can leave me and run off with Alex Carter? Dream on! She’ll never have that chance!

Even if I don’t want her anymore, I won’t let anyone else touch her!

"What are you all standing around for?! Go find her!" Ethan barked.

"Yes, Mr. Blackwood."

Lily felt that, in her lifetime, she had never smelled as much disinfectant as she had since meeting Ethan.

She had been in and out of hospitals so often that she was starting to get used to it.

In the hospital room, Sophia lay in bed, looking pitiful as she received her IV treatment.

Lily pulled back the curtains to let the sunlight in, then picked up a bouquet and placed them in a vase, hoping the floral scent would mask the smell of disinfectant.

"Lily, I’m sorry," Sophia said, her voice weak as she pointed to the bandages on Lily’s head and hands, her eyes filled with guilt.

"Don’t apologize. I’m the one who made you drink in the first place," Lily said with a faint smile as she arranged the flowers.

Last night, when Sophia had suddenly shown signs of alcohol poisoning, Lily—drunk herself—had helped her to the hospital. The two of them had stumbled through the apartment hallway, bumping into walls and getting injured in the process.

The wound on Lily’s head was still from when she had slammed it against the wall in the hotel yesterday.

It was probably for the best that she had it bandaged. Once the wounds healed, no one would be able to see anything.

And she could go back to living her life as usual.

"Lily, what are you going to do now? Are you going back to work at the magazine?" Sophia asked, propping herself up in bed.

"No, my dad’s getting out of prison soon. He still thinks I’m in grad school." Lily looked up from the vase, her voice calm. "There’s no way I can catch up now. I don’t even know how I will keep this lie going."

"Just scatter some grad school books around the house and pretend," Sophia suggested, coming up with a terrible idea. "Or get someone to make a fake diploma."

"...Really?" Lily gave her friend an exasperated look. "Do you have any ideas that are reasonable?"

Her father had once been a prominent figure in the business world—there was no way he’d fall for such cheap tricks.

"I think it’s perfectly reasonable."

"We live on Earth, Sophia. Earth is inhabited by humans, not people from Mars."

"You’re the one from Mars, Lily."

The two friends, who hadn’t spent time together, exchanged light-hearted jokes. The hospital room was soon filled with Sophia’s hearty laughter.

Lily smiled softly, joining in.

"Bang—"

The hospital room door was suddenly kicked open from the outside.

Lily was trimming the excess leaves off the flowers with scissors when she looked up, startled by the noise. What she saw made her freeze.

Cipher and several bodyguards filed into the room, standing against the wall in a neat row.

Ethan’s tall figure appeared at the door. His black coat exuded a palpable sense of menace, and his expression was cold and unreadable. His dark eyes were locked on Lily, filled with a chilling intensity.

Once again, she had gotten herself hurt.

Ethan’s eyes briefly scanned the woman lying in the hospital bed, and his foul mood lightened slightly.

At least Lily hadn’t gone to find Alex.

If she had, he would have made sure to kill both of them.

"Mr. Blackwood."

Cipher picked up a chair and placed it in the middle of the room.

Ethan sat down with a lazy, arrogant posture, crossing one leg over the other like a king surveying his domain. His entire demeanor radiated dominance and control.

"Oh, your ex!" Sophia suddenly exclaimed loudly, breaking the silence.

Lily shot her friend a pained look. Is she trying to get me killed?!

Ethan’s expression darkened, and he turned his cold gaze on Lily. His voice was icy as he repeated, "Ex?"

Lily remained silent.

Why is he here? He told me to leave, so why is he here now?

"Lily, who’s your man now? Is it Alex? Or another man I don’t know about?" Ethan asked coldly, his words sharp and biting.

Lily still said nothing.

"Alex Carter?" Sophia chimed in again, utterly oblivious to the tension in the room. "Alex Carter, the only son of the Carter family? That super handsome guy?!"

Lily wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear. Couldn’t her friend see the bodyguards standing ominously behind Ethan? How was she not scared at all...

Ethan’s face grew even darker. He whipped around and glared at Sophia, his eyes blazing with fury. "You think Alex is handsome?!"

Sophia, terrified by Ethan’s fierce gaze, stammered, "N-no... He’s not as handsome as you... Not as handsome as you...

Oh my God.

What kind of psychopath did Lily get involved with?

Sure, he’s handsome, but when he glares at you, it feels like he’s going to kill you...

Ethan let out a cold snort and stood up from the chair. He glanced at Cipher and ordered, "Take her back."

She had made him come all the way here.

And it turned out her friend was the one who was injured.

"Yes, Mr. Blackwood."

Cipher and another bodyguard stepped forward, grabbing Lily by the arms and dragging her toward the door.

"What are you doing?!" Lily struggled, her brows furrowing as she shouted, "You told me to leave, and I did! What more do you want?!"

What’s he doing, showing up here?

Is he pretending to have amnesia or something?!

What does he want?

How dare she ask what he wanted.

Ethan spun around and stepped toward her, towering over her, his eyes burning with anger. His voice was cold and domineering as he said, "Now I’m telling you to come back. What’s the problem with that?!"

What does he want from me?

"Can’t you stop being so unpredictable?" Lily wrenched her arms free from the bodyguards, glaring at Ethan in disgust. "You told me never to show my face in front of you again. I’ve already left. I’ve already disappeared from your life. Ugh."

Ethan suddenly leaned down and bit her on the cheek, his act of aggression full of arrogance and dominance.

The pain made Lily wince, and she pushed him away.

Ethan didn’t resist, allowing her to shove him back a step.

He wiped his lips with a look of disdain, his tone mocking as he sneered, "Lily, I find even kissing you disgusting."

Lily froze, a sharp pain shooting through her heart.

"No one asked you to kiss me!" Lily clenched her fists, her voice stiff with anger.

"Tissue."

Ethan’s eyes were dark as he stared at her. He took the tissue Cipher handed him and wiped his mouth.

Lily felt as if her blood were boiling...

He bites me, and he’s the one who feels disgusted. He wipes his mouth with a tissue.

If anyone is filthy, it’s him!

He’s the one who does all sorts of things in all kinds of places—whether it’s in the car by the river or in the study at dawn, he’s never cared—

And he has the nerve to say I’m dirty?

How dare he!

Lily glared at him, her lips pressed tightly together, her face pale with anger.

After wiping his mouth, Ethan casually tossed the tissue onto her face, clearly satisfied with how her pale face twisted in fury. "Lily, did you think I’d let you off so easily?"

"How naive!"

Ethan backhanded her face lightly, the soft contact making him pause momentarily. But then his lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. "Lily, after you played me for a fool, do you really think I’ll let you go without making you suffer?"

Lily’s eyes widened in shock as a cold shiver ran down her spine.

"Take her away!" Ethan’s smile disappeared as he turned and walked out of the room, his back exuding an air of invincibility and arrogance.

"Miss Anderson, let’s go."

Cipher’s voice was devoid of emotion as he grabbed Lily’s arm and dragged her out of the room.

"Let me go! Let go of me! I can walk by myself!" Lily struggled fiercely, but Cipher held her firmly. She turned her head and called out to Sophia, who was still sitting in stunned silence on the hospital bed. "Sophia, don’t tell my uncle!"
