Chapter 111: Unraveling Betrayal

Ethan dragged Lily forcefully into an open hotel room, shoving her inside.

Unable to maintain balance, Lily stumbled into the storage cabinet by the entrance. The sharp corner of the cabinet dug painfully into her side, sending a piercing pain through her body.

"Keep an eye on her!" Ethan bellowed as he turned away, slamming the door shut behind him and storming off, his face dark and terrifying.

Lily’s thin frame slid down the wall as she collapsed, hugging her knees tightly and sobbing uncontrollably.

She didn’t even understand why she was crying.

Was it because Ethan had exposed all her lies? Or was it the overwhelming shock of seeing the grand unveiling of the 30-Day Anniversary Hotel?

Tears streamed down her face endlessly.

Lily cried silently.

A mechanical voice echoed repeatedly from the nearby room, "Lily is Tomato Girl, Lily is Tomato Girl..."

Forcing herself to stand, Lily walked further into the room. It was a lavish presidential suite, even more luxurious than the one they had stayed in last time in the city.

She opened the door to another room and found a wooden cartoon figure of a tomato with a smiling face sitting on the TV stand, repeatedly chanting, "Lily is Tomato Girl."

Lily stared at the figure in a daze, then walked over and picked it up. Her eyes scanned the room’s decor.

The floor was covered in pink rose petals...

On the large double bed lay a nurse’s uniform, short and sexy, pure white.

On the windowsill sat two giant dolls, an old-fashioned style she used to love taking pictures with when she was little...

Her tears fell even harder.

Ethan had indeed planned to celebrate their 30-day anniversary with her...

How had things turned out like this?

How did it all come to this?

Clutching the mischievous, smiling cartoon tomato, Lily collapsed to the floor. Her strength left her, and tears fell like a broken string of pearls.

In the quiet room, the cartoon tomato continued repeating its phrase repeatedly.

"Lily is Tomato Girl, Lily is Tomato Girl..."

She didn’t know how much time had passed when the sound of hurried footsteps approached. Suddenly, Cipher and two bodyguards burst in, grabbing and dragging her out.

In the presidential suite’s living room, Ethan sat on the sofa, a dark cloud hanging over him, his eyes filled with chilling fury.

"Ah—"

One of the bodyguards pushed her to the floor, forcing Lily to cry out as she collapsed in front of Ethan.

Ethan looked down at her from above, his tall figure looming over her. He grabbed her chin roughly, forcing her to look up at him. "Lily, let’s settle this!"

With that, Ethan twisted her head toward the solid wood coffee table.

The table was piled with documents, pill bottles, newspapers, notebooks, even the phone she had hidden in the vase, and the keys to the beach house.

Seeing all of this, Lily closed her eyes in despair.

Everything had been uncovered. There was no turning back now...

"Lily! Open your eyes!"

Ethan’s voice was filled with rage as he shouted at her.

Her chin hurt as if it were about to break from his grip. Lily opened her tear-filled, reddened eyes, and Ethan shoved a notebook before her.

The document on the screen clearly displayed the articles she had written...

One article exposed Alice’s affair, while the other speculated about the person behind the attacks on Carter Group.

The articles she had once destroyed had been restored in full.

"Lily, the game I played, you undid with just two reports." Ethan’s grip on her chin tightened as he sneered coldly. "Should I congratulate you on your brilliance?"

"Ah..." Lily cried out in pain, reaching up to push his hand away.

Ethan grabbed her arm and forced her to face him.

"I assume the Carter family’s car took you? Off to meet Alex?" Ethan leaned down, his face inches from hers, his voice terrifyingly cold. "You went behind my back to meet with Alex? Did you see him?"

He had gone to Europe for her and released balloons for her.

And what did she do? She had given him a green hat—a symbol of infidelity!

Ethan Blackwood had never been humiliated like this in his life!

"I... Alex and I aren’t what you think," Lily managed to say, her voice weak as she tried to push Ethan’s hand away. "Ethan, can’t you just listen to me? Let go..."

Every time, he resorted to force. Every time...

He couldn’t treat her like this even if she owed him something. When he was angry, he never treated her like a human being.

"Listen?" Ethan let out a cruel laugh. "I’ve listened to you enough, Lily! Nobody has ever played me, Ethan Blackwood, like this! You’re the first!"

Lily stared at his furious face while the cartoon tomato’s voice continued to echo in the background.

"I’m sorry."

She didn’t know what hurt more, but tears flowed from her eyes.

If she could, she wouldn’t have lied to him. She wouldn’t have hidden so much from him...

But it was Alex. She couldn’t just ignore him. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

She couldn’t stand by and watch Carter Group collapse, watch Alex’s business empire crumble. She just couldn’t.

"I don’t want to hear your apologies!" Ethan roared, pushing her away and picking up the phone from the coffee table. He shoved it in front of her. "Read it!"

The phone was filled with messages from Alex...

She had deleted them, but they had all been recovered.

"Ethan... Ah..." She tried to speak, but her arm was held tightly. Ethan’s fury was uncontrollable as he shouted, "Lily, I said read it!"

With tears blurring her vision, Lily tried to turn her head away, but Ethan held her firmly. "Read it!"

The pain was overwhelming, sending waves of agony through her body.

"’Lily, why didn’t anyone tell me that I would find you when I turned twenty-two?’" Lily read the message through her tears, her voice trembling uncontrollably. Ethan’s grip on her arm only tightened.

"’Lily, would things have been different if I had waited a little longer? Ah...’"

Lily cried out in pain as Ethan pushed her away, the agony numbing her senses.

"Bang—"

Ethan hurled the phone across the room, the pieces scattering everywhere.

"Lily! How dare you give me a green hat!" Ethan roared as he stood up, his voice filled with anger and betrayal.

He had never been humiliated like this in his life!

Lily’s body trembling, her tears falling uncontrollably.

Just days ago, this was the man who had forced her to use a wheelchair when she sprained her ankle, who wouldn’t let her wear heels... And now, he seemed ready to break her. The contrast was so overwhelming it was unbearable.

Ethan glared at her curled-up figure on the floor, his eyes blazing with fury, like a man possessed. He crouched down and grabbed her hand. "Tell me! What else are you hiding? Tell me!"

Lily no longer had the strength to resist...

Her tears blurred her vision, and pain coursed through her body.

"Nothing... There’s nothing else..." Lily shook her head desperately.

"Nothing? Then let me remind you!" Ethan snarled, dragging her back to the coffee table. He picked up a bottle of sleeping pills and placed it in front of her. "You probably didn’t know that Nanny counts the pills. The night you asked her for some, four pills went missing."

Lily froze.

Ethan let out a cold laugh as he slowly unscrewed the bottle, his voice as cold as ice. "You put four sleeping pills in my milk to help Alex get the information he needed. Am I wrong?"

Lily shut her eyes, silently admitting her guilt.

"Heh." Ethan’s laugh was chilling and filled with malice.

The first time she had ever made him a glass of milk, she had laced it with sleeping pills!

And he had foolishly thought she cared about him, so he drank it all!

Heh, how laughable.

"Lily, you went all out for Alex! What do you take me for? Am I just your plaything?" Ethan twisted open the bottle and dumped all the pills over her head.

The white pills rained down on her, bouncing off her face and falling to the floor.

Lily collapsed on the floor, unable to say a word, her body trembling as she sobbed.

Ethan grabbed her chin again, forcing her to look at him as he glared at her with near-maniacal rage. "How does it feel to play me like a fool? Do you feel proud?"

"I never wanted to deceive you."

"But you did!" Ethan shouted, cutting her off. "What do you and Alex take me for? Just something to pass the time?!"

"It’s not like that."

"Let me tell you something, Lily! From today on, you and Alex will pay for this!"

With that, Ethan released her, his anger still palpable.

Lily felt as if her chest had been crushed, and she lay there, unable to even scream from the pain. Her mind grew hazy, and it felt like her consciousness was slipping away as she passed out...

Ethan froze.

Cipher and the bodyguards stood silently, shocked by what they had just witnessed. Cipher hesitated before speaking up. "Mr. Blackwood, I think Miss Lily has fainted."

"Do I need you to tell me that?!" Ethan snapped, glaring at Cipher, who immediately fell silent.

"She’s not allowed to die. She’s not allowed to leave," Ethan growled, his eyes cold as he turned to Cipher. "If she does, you’ll all die."

"Yes, Mr. Blackwood."

Stepping over Lily’s body, Ethan stormed out of the room.

The Ferrari roared down the highway, speeding at its limit, the wind rushing past as it tore through the night.

Ethan’s eyes were bloodshot as he stared straight ahead.

Fireworks.

Roses.

Balloons.

Taking her to Europe for treatment.

Learning to play the saxophone.

Publicly declaring her as his girlfriend.

Heh, how many foolish things had he done for Lily!

And in return, she gave him a green hat, treating him like a fool!

The first woman he had ever truly cared about had betrayed him!

How could he have forgotten that she was the same woman who had once wiped her hands with disgust after touching him?

How could he have fallen for someone like that...

He had brought this upon himself!

Everything was his fault!

He had changed everything for her, and in the end, all he got was betrayal—naked, raw betrayal.

"I don’t love you, Ethan. I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me."

"I don’t love you, Ethan. So... don’t fall in love with me."

"Ethan, no matter how often you say it, I don’t love you."

Lily’s voice echoed in his mind, tormenting him over and over...

Her reason for not loving him was simple—Alex.

Even when she lay in his bed, the name she called out was Alex’s...

Ethan’s face grew darker and darker, his eyes bloodshot, filled with murderous intent.

"Bang—"

The car crashed into the vehicle in front of him.

The impact jolted him violently.

A thin trickle of blood began to seep from his forehead.
