30 Days of Passion and Revenge-Chapter 110: Unmasking the Truth
Alice’s words made Lily stop dead in her tracks. Does this woman still dare to throw dirt on me? How ridiculous. Just because Lily stayed silent didn’t mean she didn’t care.
Lily turned around and gave Alice, who was crying uncontrollably a cold look. Her voice was laced with sarcasm as she said, "Miss Alice, aren’t you the one who knows best why Ethan is targeting Carter Group?"
Alex looked stunned.
Alice’s face was full of confusion as she cried in a sharp voice, "What are you talking about?!"
"Oh, has Miss Alice forgotten about how you hit me with your car on the day of your engagement?" Lily sneered. "You had Alex’s assistant drag me to the police station... I was injured, and they locked me in a detention cell. It wasn’t perfect. Ethan made sure to settle that score with the Carter family."
Alex stared at Lily in shock.
The engagement day...
So, it was Lily I saw that day...
"You two had already met?" Alex turned to Alice, his usual gentleness gone as he coldly questioned her. "You met Lily before?"
"I..." Alice stammered, at a loss for words.
"Not just that. We first met at the kindergarten," Lily continued with biting sarcasm. "And wasn’t it Miss Alice who kept interrupting Alex from finding me? Isn’t your assistant working for her?"
"You’re lying!" Alice shrieked in panic, her voice rising in desperation.
Lily looked at Alice with disdain. She hadn’t wanted to tear things apart, but Alice had pushed her too far.
Since Alice had set up so many traps, why should Lily maintain her image of grace and tolerance in front of Alex?
Alex’s eyes flickered with disbelief as he let out a self-deprecating laugh, slowly releasing Alice’s wrist.
"Alex..." Alice looked at him in shock, her panic rising. "Alex, listen to me. She’s lying! She’s lying!"
Alex’s eyes stared at Alice coldly, devoid of their usual warmth. "I only trust Lily. We need to take some time apart."
He said... he only trusts Lily.
Lily stood frozen, staring at Alex as he took a step back. Suddenly, she wasn’t sure if what she had done was right or wrong.
"Alex, you trust her and not me?!" Alice cried, her tears streaming down her face. "Why?! I’m your fiancée! At our engagement ceremony, you told everyone you loved me!"
Lily didn’t want to listen anymore. She turned to leave, but her steps came to an abrupt halt.
Ethan stood in the doorway, watching her with a sarcastic smile.
That look in his eyes... as if he were watching an entertaining show.
Lily froze her entire body stiffening. She couldn’t move.
The moment she feared most had arrived.
"I told you before, Alex," came Alex’s voice from behind her, his words echoing in the room.
"The only part of you I loved was the part that desperately tried to imitate Lily."
Lily’s heart stopped.
The only part of you I loved was the part that desperately tried to imitate Lily...
Lily stood frozen, her mind blank.
Hearing this, a more profound, more mocking smile spread across Ethan’s lips. It was as if he found the whole situation amusing.
"Alex, don’t do this." Alice began to cling to Alex’s arm, begging him desperately.
"How touching," Ethan’s sarcastic voice suddenly cut through the room, his tone cold and heartless. "It’s remarkable how much Mr. Carter can still care about a woman I’ve slept with countless times."
Both Alex and Alice looked up in shock.
Lily stood there, staring blankly at Ethan, the man who had just shielded her from the storm of accusations, now turning cruel and cutting.
Ethan’s lips remained curled in a cold sneer, his eyes gleaming with malice.
Suddenly, Ethan stepped forward, grabbing Lily’s bare shoulder firmly. His smile was full of mockery as he continued, "I’m curious, Mr. Carter, what exactly is it that you can’t forget? Is it her sensitive spots? Or maybe the sweet sounds she makes in bed? Would you like me to tell you all about them individually?"
His hand gripped her shoulder painfully, his fingers digging into her skin.
But Lily didn’t feel the pain. She stood there, her mind a complete blank.
Cold shivers ran through her body in waves.
Alex glanced at Lily’s pale face, immediately stepping forward. "Ethan, what kind of man says things like that in front of a woman? Don’t you have any decency?"
"Decency?" Ethan sneered, his eyes cold as he looked down at Lily. He leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "I don’t have decency, and this woman has been beneath me, moaning in pleasure. So, Alex, she’s not yours to defend."
It was as if a knife had been driven into Lily’s body, splintering her into pieces.
"Ethan!"
"I’m taking my woman with me," Ethan interrupted, his voice dripping with venom as he locked eyes with Alex. "And Alex, remember this—I won’t let you off easily."
Ethan wrapped his arm around Lily’s shoulder and dragged her out of the room.
"Lily..." Alex called out after her, his voice filled with concern.
Lily bit her lip hard.
"Lily..."
"If you dare turn around, I’ll kill him," Ethan hissed threateningly in her ear, his voice carrying a deadly chill.
Lily bit down so hard that her lip started to bleed.
The taste of blood spread across her mouth.
She closed her eyes in despair, allowing herself to be led away by Ethan like a lifeless puppet.
On the way back, Ethan kicked the driver out of the car and took the wheel himself. He drove insanely, forcing the other cars on the road to swerve out of the way.
Lily sat in the passenger seat, her hands clenched tightly in her lap.
The worst had happened.
Ethan had found out about her connection to Alex.
The cruel, cutting words Ethan had just spoken felt like knives carving into her skin.
After shoving her into the car, Ethan hadn’t said a single word. Given his usual temper, he should have been raging by now.
His uncharacteristic silence terrified Lily even more, making her fear that this was the calm before the storm.
Ethan’s face remained cold as he continued to speed through the streets. One hand swiped across his phone screen, his voice like ice. "Find out everything about Lily’s relationship with Alex Carter right now."
"Yes, Mr. Blackwood."
Lily shivered involuntarily, sneaking a cautious glance at Ethan’s face. She tried to explain, "Alex and I knew each other when we were kids."
"Shut up!" Ethan roared, slamming on the gas even harder, the landscape outside speeding by in a blur.
Lily flinched, her body shrinking back in fear. She didn’t dare say another word.
The car was going so fast it felt like they were on the verge of crashing. If this continued, Lily had no doubt they would end up dead on the side of the road.
But what could she do?
"Reminder: Hotel Grand Opening at Midnight," a robotic voice from the phone interrupted the tense silence.
"Screech—"
Ethan suddenly swerved the car and slammed on the brakes.
Even in a high-performance sports car, the sudden stop caused the vehicle to jolt violently.
Ethan turned toward Lily, his eyes cold and menacing. He spoke slowly, each word forced through clenched teeth. "So, the ’Ash’ you moan about in bed... that’s Alex Carter?"
"..." Lily looked up at Ethan, unable to respond.
"Answer me!" Ethan’s voice angrily exploded as he swept everything off the dashboard onto her. His phone, tissues, and other items hit Lily, the phone striking her chest painfully.
"Yes." Lily finally admitted in a soft voice.
There was no point in hiding it now.
Like a balloon over-inflated with lies, the truth had finally burst, taking her down.
Ethan’s gaze was so intense it felt like it could burn through her.
He should have figured it out sooner!
He had been fighting for her, trying to avenge her, while she secretly tried to protect Alex.
"The documents?" Ethan growled, his teeth clenched. "The mole... is you. Lily, isn’t it?"
Lily bit her lip and slowly nodded.
Seeing her pale face and the way she nodded, Ethan thought he would be furious, that he would want to hit her. But instead, he let out a cold, bitter laugh. "Heh."
How hilarious.
I’ve been avenging her, fighting Carter Group for her, and all the while, she’s been helping Alex behind my back.
Heh.
This is just too funny.
I, Ethan Blackwood, have been played by a woman all along, to the point where I didn’t even know which direction I was going.
Ethan opened the car door without another word, got out, and said coldly, "Lily, get out."
Lily sat in the passenger seat, frozen momentarily, before exiting the car. Streetlights illuminated the road, and a group of people and several hostesses in festive attire were approaching in the distance.
The man at the front smiled and walked over. "Mr. Blackwood, you’ve finally arrived. Our entire staff has been waiting until midnight for you to cut the ribbon and open the new hotel."
Ethan’s eyes were cold as he stared at the man. "Go ahead and open it without me."
"Uh?" The man was momentarily confused.
"Do you not understand what I’m saying?!" Ethan growled.
The group, who had been smiling moments earlier, exchanged bewildered glances. No one understood what was going on...
"Alright, alright, we’ll begin the opening!"
A giant red silk cloth was pulled down, revealing the towering hotel behind it.
The sound was booming, and the spectacle was grand.
In the center of the hotel’s facade, neon lights flashed the name of the establishment—30-Day Anniversary Hotel.
The hotel’s name was enormous, illuminated by bright, gleaming lights...
"Miss Anderson, don’t you remember? You’ve been with Mr. Blackwood for almost a month now."
"Mr. Blackwood arranged his schedule to be back in time to celebrate this anniversary."
"You know Mr. Blackwood is very fond of you."
Lily stood there, shocked at the hotel’s name, her vision blurring as her heart trembled.
She didn’t understand why, but tears began to fall.
"This is Blackwood Enterprise’s first luxury hotel in Asia. Under Mr. Blackwood’s leadership, we’ll open hundreds of 30-Day Anniversary hotels across Asia within the next ten months!"
"Clap, clap, clap—"
The crowd erupted into applause, congratulating each other.
But the two people who should have been the happiest stood there without a hint of joy on their faces...
Fireworks began to explode in heart-shaped patterns from the hotel’s entrance, shooting toward them in a dazzling display...
Ethan stood beside Lily, watching the fireworks from heart shapes on the ground. Suddenly, everything felt like a cruel joke to him.
"Lily, this was my anniversary gift to you," Ethan said, staring down at her tear-streaked face with a mocking smile. "Should I be happy? After all, you gave me a pretty impressive gift, too."
A gift of betrayal. A woman’s infidelity.
It was a gift so heavy it could crush a man completely.
Lily’s tears fell more freely as her body trembled uncontrollably.
"Lily! Stop pretending in front of me. Your act has gone on long enough!"
Ethan grabbed her hand roughly, dragging her toward the hotel, stepping over the heart-shaped fireworks. Still basking in the excitement of the grand opening, the crowd quickly made way for them, exchanging confused looks.
Ethan’s grip on her hand was so tight it felt like he might break it.
Lily didn’t dare cry out in pain. She let him drag her forcefully into the elevator.
The elevator shot up to the 30th floor. As soon as the doors opened, two rows of beautifully-dressed hostesses showered them with rose petals...
"Get out!" Ethan barked, his voice cold and terrifying.
Frightened by his tone, the hostesses immediately backed away, casting curious glances at Lily, whose face was streaked with tears.
Ethan dragged Lily down the hallway to an open hotel room and shoved her inside.
