100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat-Chapter 34: T.S 067
It had already been three minutes since the lady with the black cloak entered the shadow of the couch.
At this moment, Aegon was sitting on the wooden shelf waiting for her to come out, the dagger in his hand was dripping blood.
It was the blood from the lady after he stabbed her stomach earlier.
For the whole of the three minutes, Aegon had said no words and only thought in his heart of who she was and why she was here.
He had expected Reynold or an associate of his; who should have been another Farmer. But this was different.
This lady in the black cloak and a hoodie; she was no Farmer, but more like an assassin.
’And with the sigil... Is it some kind of cult?’
Aegon stared at the shadow of the couch and wondered in his heart.
’Shadow talent? Never thought that was a thing. But it could be expected, she’s an assassin and it fits the role perfectly.’
’But one thing doesn’t add up. From the plant of the vase and the ones in the garden soil, it looked like this place was turned down a few days ago.’
’But why is she here? To wait for me?’
Aegon thought of this, and then remembered that he had seen this individual back at the alley.
It didn’t add up.
’How did they know I was there? No one knew I had the return stone till I used it. And even if they knew, they wouldn’t know where I was going to appear.’ 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
’This doesn’t make sense.’
Even though he had abilities beyond the comprehension of regular humans and inexperienced Farmers, he still didn’t know everything.
Aegon took his gaze to his left, not neglecting the shadow because he felt like she could come out any time and move swiftly again.
While he turned to his left, he saw a small cloth on the ground. It was half torn and damaged, so he stretched his hand and picked it up.
With the cloth in his right hand and the dagger in his left, he began wiping off the blood off the dagger.
"Sniff..."
Suddenly, while he was cleaning, he heard a sniff. It wasn’t his and the only person it could be was... her.
Aegon rose his head and gazed at the shadow. His once cold expression now turned into a ’smile’ and he said:
"You are going to bleed to death if you leave that wound unattended too."
He said this because he had thought carefully.
After he heard the sniff of the lady, he definitely knew that it was because of the pain she was feeling.
At this moment, she was injured, bleeding, and also using her ability; meaning she was burning mana.
It was either of two options, either he waited for her to bleed to death before coming outside, or wait for her mana to completely drain, then she would come outside.
The former was not quite favourable because, what use was of the dead?
The latter however, was indeed favourable, but it wasn’t like he had time to be waiting for her all day.
So he made a third option; to trick her into coming outside then get a hold of her movement.
It was going to be a difficult process but it was all he had, so he went with this option.
"If you continue hiding there, you would be burning your mana isn’t that right? I know because I can hear the sounds you are making."
"Come, you can not simply be bleeding, going out of mana and hiding at the same time. You are cornered and have no way to run, so you might, as well. Or you die..."
"But you don’t want that, do you?"
He said this because it was obvious. Although assassins are known for their strict rules when on mission; dying when necessary in order not to give information.
But she, however, didn’t do that. After she was stabbed, she could have easily fought to the end but instead chose to retreat and hide; meaning she wanted to live.
Aegon knew this all, which explained what he said.
"If you come outside, you might get that treatment before it becomes worse and kills you."
After saying this, Aegon knew he was reaching the high mark.
’One more, one more and she would come out. What other options does she have?’
Aegon had just finished cleaning the dagger and placed it back in the side of his cargo pants. The cloth which he had used to clean was now stained with blood, so he kept it away.
Now, his focus was fully on the shadow. He was thinking of the next thing he was going to say.
’Something to force her out. By now she must already know she doesn’t have many options and can only take the one I offer her.’
’I’ve got it!’
Aegon pulled back as he had just gotten the next thing he was going to say. He opened his mouth and was about to speak, when immediately the shadow moved and a figure came out from it.
’That was easier than I expected. I thought she would have held on for a while.’
Standing before Aegon stood a young girl with blonde hair and blue eyes like that of a child.
She was about 5 ’5 feet tall and looked as though she was still in her early teen age.
The girl saw Aegon as she analyzed her and thought of it as an opportunity to escape.
Immediately, she dashed left towards the area of the door but Aegon moved faster than her and caught her with his hands.
The girl struggled, trying to escape but Aegon simply punched the part where she was wounded. In that instant, she dropped on the floor rolling with her hands on her stomach while grunting in pain.
"I expected you to do that." He uttered.
Hearing this, the girl raised her eyes, full of water and said, her voice shaking in pain.
"You didn’t have to do that, I wasn’t trying to escape."
Upon hearing this, Aegon replied with a calm voice, saying:
"Is that so? Then, what were you trying to do? Turn off the lights?"
The girl put her head down as she knew there was no fooling anyone.
Aegon left the girl and went to the cupboard in the kitchen and brought out what looked like a box of first aid, just then he heard.
"You can’t win." It was the girl who spoke.
"What?" Aegon turned and asked
The girl turned to face him, her hands holding her bleeding stomach, then her mouth opened and she said again.
"You can’t win. You can’t beat the master. Even if you hold me hostage, more will come looking."
Hearing this, Aegon moved to the girl without saying anything. Then he then bent down and placed the box on the ground.
"Let me see..."
The words left his lips while the girl looked at him with baffled eyes. She was startled that he didn’t reply to her line.
But what even shocked her the most was that he was going to help her with her injury.
"Or do you want to bleed to death?" Seeing that she didn’t do as he said, Aegon uttered.
Hearing this, the girl, feeling anxious and hesitant, unzipped the cloak down to her stomach. The zip was at the front.
After unzipping, she removed the cloak half way while feeling embarrassed, although she was wearing a white t-shirt and a black trouser inside.
She wasn’t bare.
Seeing that the blood had soaked through her shirt, Aegon gently raised it up.
"Ah!"
The girl shouted at the pain, as she felt the shirt being pulled away from the wound.
"..."
Aegon had cleaned her wound, disinfected it and had her wrapped with a white bandage round her stomach.
At this moment, he had gone back to the shelf; sitting on it, while the girl sat on the ground feeling if she still felt pain.
"Ah!" she found out.
’I need to get some information from her.’ Aegon thought inwardly.
’From her face, she doesn’t look like a cold blooded killer. She looks more like a child dragged into this and this is probably her first mission which is why she slacked like that.’
’Then again she isn’t to be underestimated. An assassin is an assassin.’
Aegon looked at the girl while she dragged her shirt down and zipped back her cloak, then he asked:
"What is your name?"
The girl turned to him with a now cold expression like he had just touched into something he wasn’t supposed to.
But Aegon did react and kept an expressionless face. One that didn’t show any emotion.
The girl, seeing this, couldn’t tell if he was angry, upset, or excited. But he looked serious.
Knowing that there was no point, she gave up and said.
"I don’t have one."
"What?"
"We do not have any names."
"We? Who’s we? Then what are you called?"
The girl looked at Aegon with a new expression; a sad one; one that felt as though a lot of things had been taken from her, even her name, then she said.
"I am called, Test Subject 067."
