Chapter 304: Chapter 304 - A Naive Priestess

Naturally, he can guess that it was about him. Cassandra must have given an oracle using the monastery as the means to do their dirty job.

But now that the tower has arrived, their focus will most likely turn toward it, thinking it could be part of the prophecy she provided, thereby confusing them.

However, if there is more to that prophecy from which she could get a clue from this woman, he might add more Easter eggs to confuse them, rather than allowing them to focus on him or his wife.

"Yes!" Olivia’s face lit up. "She said there was a situation that needed healing expertise. Are you injured? Or is it someone in your family? I can help with most wounds, diseases, curses, and some poisons. I’m not as strong as my sister, but I’m quite good at healing, I promise!"

She was bouncing slightly on her toes now, eager and ready to help.

Viktor felt something twist in his chest. Not lust—well, not *only* lust. Something else. Pity, maybe. Or recognition.

’She is a FOOL!’

Even he can tell that this woman had been sent here to die. That much was obvious.

Her sister—probably threatened by her healing abilities—had engineered a convenient "accident" by sending her to the most dangerous location possible.

No, this woman’s brain cells don’t even need the place to be dangerous. She could even die while seated in a flower garden due to being bitten by bees.

’Will I be trash to manipulate her into...’ Viktor thought, then sighed, realizing his morals had suddenly kicked in. If he heard Mira’s words, he would follow the script of being a trashy, perverted nobleman who breeds women.

If he shows pity to this fool, most probably some other person would destroy her life in a way that makes it even worse.

If he had to mention it, it was as if she had been pulled out of her nest and directly thrown in front of him—either he eats her or leaves for some other wolf.

He sighed, running his free hand through his hair. "Listen, Miss...?"

"Olivia!" she supplied helpfully. "Priestess Olivia, but just Olivia is fine!"

"Olivia," Viktor repeated. "I think there’s been a misunderstanding. Your sister—"

"Oh, did she not send proper details?" Olivia’s face fell slightly. "That’s... that does sound like her, actually. She’s very busy. But that’s fine! Just tell me what you need, and I’ll do my best!"

Viktor looked at her determined expression, her innocent eyes, her genuine desire to help.

Then he looked past her at the Tower in the distance—dark, ominous, pulsing with power.

An idea formed in his mind. Probably a terrible idea. Definitely a selfish idea.

But when had that ever stopped him?

"Actually," Viktor said slowly, a small smirk forming on his lips. "There *is* something you can help with. Several things and times, in fact."

Olivia’s entire face brightened like the sun coming out from behind clouds. "Really?! Oh, I’m so glad! What do you need?"

"Come with me," Viktor said, gesturing toward the town. "I’ll explain on the way. But first—"

He pulled off his white shirt in one smooth motion, leaving his muscular torso bare.

Olivia’s face immediately showed confusion rather than a flush, indicating she had never seen a man in a way she should have. "W-What are you—?!"

Viktor draped the shirt over her shoulders, covering her torn robes and exposed cleavage. "You’re practically falling out of those robes. Wear this until we can get you proper clothing."

The shirt was far too large for her, hanging off her frame like a dress. But it covered her adequately.

Olivia clutched the fabric, her face showing confusion. "T-Thank you..."

"Can you walk?" Viktor asked.

"Yes!" Olivia nodded eagerly, though her legs were visibly shaking.

"You are too slow." Viktor sighed and simply moved, hooking his hand, kneeling, and instantly lifting her in a princess carry. Her body jiggled before she soared into his chest. Her eyes widened, confused, as she looked towards him while he just started to walk.

"Um, I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name!" She called out, even though she felt strange, held like this, especially feeling it was her who cared for others, first given salt and then lifted up, even though her feet were hurting. She was confused, looking towards the face of the man, in the same way others looked up to her, as she had just asked. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Viktor glanced back at her over his shoulder, his dark purple-tinged eyes meeting her golden ones.

"Viktor," he said simply. "And welcome to Millbrook, Priestess Olivia."

"Um? Yes." Viktor walked with steady strides, carrying Olivia in a princess carry through the forest path. Her weight was negligible to him—soft and warm against his bare chest.

She clutched his white shirt around herself with one hand, the other instinctively gripping his shoulder for balance. Her golden eyes kept darting between his face and the path ahead, clearly uncertain how to process this situation.

’This is... this is the first time anyone has...’ Olivia’s thoughts were a confused mess. She’d spent her entire life caring for others—tending wounds, easing pain, supporting the weak. But now someone was carrying her. Supporting her.

It felt strange. Foreign. But also... warm.

"Um, Viktor?" she said quietly. "You really don’t have to carry me. I can walk, I promise—"

"You’re trembling," Viktor said flatly, not looking down at her. "Your legs won’t hold you for the distance we need to cover. Stop being stubborn."

Olivia’s mouth opened to protest, then closed. He was right. Her legs felt like jelly.

"Besides," Viktor added, a hint of amusement in his voice, "at your pace, we’d arrive by nightfall. I’d prefer to get there before—"

WHOOOOSH.

A massive shadow suddenly engulfed them both.

The sunlight vanished. Darkness fell like a curtain.

Olivia’s eyes went wide, her head snapping upward. "M-Mon—"

The word died in her throat.

Above them, descending from the sky, was a creature. Huge. Easily the size of a house. Its body was translucent purple, gelatinous and shimmering in the filtered light. It had the vague shape of a dragon—four legs, wings, a long tail, horned head.

But it wasn’t scales and claws. It was jelly. Wobbling, bouncing, cute jelly.

Two large eye-spots on its face blinked at them with what could only be described as puppy-like excitement.

"KYUUUU~!"

The sound was high-pitched. Adorable. Completely at odds with the creature’s massive size.

Olivia stared, her brain short-circuiting. "That’s... that’s a..."

She couldn’t even call it a monster. It looked cute. Threatening in size, yes, but its expression, its movements, the way it bounced in mid-air—

’Is that... a slime dragon?!’

Before she could process further, Viktor moved.

"Hold on," he said simply.

"What—?!"

Viktor leaped.

Not a small jump. A full-powered, superhuman leap that launched them ten feet into the air in a single bound.

WHOOSH.

They landed directly on top of the slime dragon’s head, Viktor’s bare feet finding purchase on the gelatinous surface. The slime was solid enough to support them but soft enough that Olivia could see their weight creating small depressions.

"Cover your eyes," Viktor instructed, pulling her tighter against his chest with one arm. His other hand came up to guide her face into his pecs. "Like this."
