"No objections allowed; once married, follow your husband and be obedient. You shouldn’t make me worry either, should you? Anxiety will only worsen your condition."

Ye Lu, having no choice, could only obey him. She would walk for a bit and then ask him to stop and rest before continuing.

They walked for half a day until they reached a slope with ancient trees reaching to the sky. It wasn’t very high, but it was quite steep.

Ye Lu gritted her teeth, leaned on a walking stick with one hand, and braced herself against the trees as she made her way up.

Going up the slope, luggage couldn’t be dragged, so Third Young Master Jun had no choice but to carry it on his back, which left him trailing behind her.

Ye Lu climbed up and looked back to see him slowly walking with the luggage on his back, only halfway up.

Just as she was about to suggest a rest, she watched in horror as his body swayed and—he actually fainted at such a moment! She felt a tightening in her chest, her breath caught, and she stared as he tumbled down the slope.

His body hit against tree trunks and rocks, making terrifying sounds.

Finally, at the foot of the hill, his rolling ceased, and he lay there motionless.

Ye Lu covered her mouth, shocked to the point of numbness.

She clutched her mouth tightly, her eyes blurring with tears, but she dared not cry.

Crying would waste time and energy. She hurriedly wiped her tears away so she could see the path clearly, then cautiously and anxiously made her way down, nearly tumbling herself at one point.

At last, she reached Third Young Master Jun’s side, crouched down, and saw him passed out. She nearly collapsed in despair.

Taking a deep breath, she had no choice but to suppress her panic and fear, as she painfully turned his heavy body over and saw injuries from stones and tree trunks, some bruised purple, others broken skin, all bleeding.

Her heart trembled violently. She felt for his breath at his nose, relieved there still was some.

But facing this situation, she felt utterly helpless. Seeing the scattered luggage on the ground, she kneeled down and dug out the small medical kit. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

She took out the disinfectant cotton swab soaked in disinfectant and, shaking, wiped the blood from his wounds and disinfected them, then applied some medicine. But when she saw his foot, her heart plunged into an abyss, a chill spreading over her.

His ankle was swollen high, a large patch of skin broken, the blood staining the hem of his pants, the arch of his foot twisted at a strange angle, with no telling whether the bones were broken or dislocated.

Ye Lu didn’t understand these injuries and dared not move him carelessly, afraid that her actions might increase the severity of his injuries.

She could only apply medicine to his wounds and anxiously awaited his awakening,

But after a long wait, he didn’t wake up; instead, he seemed even hotter to the touch. Ye Lu was both anxious and panicked, without any solution, yet she bit her teeth tightly, refusing to cry or let herself collapse.

He had fainted; if she also lost control of the situation, both of them could die here.

It seemed they couldn’t move on today. She packed up the luggage, set up a tent right there, and painfully dragged Third Young Master Jun into the tent, heartachingly covering him with a blanket.

Then biting her teeth, she took a water bottle to find water.

After returning, she soaked a towel in water and placed it on his forehead. The spring water in the mountains was ice-cold; she hoped it would reduce his fever slightly and wake him up.

But as night fell, he still hadn’t woken up, and Ye Lu kept watch by his side, feeling her own willpower on the verge of collapse.

She made a fire outside, boiled some water for tea. She had no appetite to eat, took out some compressed biscuits, and ate a few bites, finding them tough to swallow.

As night deepened, the surroundings were dead silent, save for the sound of insects, and faintly, there also seemed to be the howling of wolves.
