Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 872: The Less She Pays Attention to Me, the More I Like Her
Morgan Quinn couldn’t help but scold Faye Xavier, "What nonsense are you babbling? Hurry up and eat, then we’ll go and inquire together, maybe sign up for a class. Don’t just drink and chase women all the time, find something productive to do."
Faye Xavier mumbled while eating, "No way, I really need to take you to the temple tomorrow. You’re so abnormal, it’s scary."
"I’m perfectly normal! I’ll lead you back on the right path from now on."
The more Morgan spoke, the more Faye felt a chill down his spine.
Despite that, after dinner, Faye couldn’t resist Morgan, so he followed him to the martial arts training center across the street and signed up for the most expensive class.
He originally wanted to relax at the bar, to enjoy some nightlife.
But the coach said they should first have a personal experience session to understand their foundation and adjust the course difficulty accordingly.
They kept at it until ten o’clock when the martial arts center closed.
While it wasn’t too late, Faye was exhausted from horse stance practice, his legs were shaky walking now.
After Morgan drove Faye home, he sneaked off to the police station.
He was thinking of Erin Yates mentioning a case during the day, she might still be working late.
Sure enough, Morgan had barely stepped into the lobby when he saw Erin walking out of her office.
Morgan waved at Erin, who, after seeing him, rolled her eyes and continued deeper down the hallway.
Seeing Erin was indeed busy working, Morgan decided not to interrupt and found a seat in the lobby.
The officers in charge of reception all recognized him and knew why he was there. The receptionist, a female officer, warmly offered him a cup of tea, "Not going home to rest at this hour, Mr. Quinn?"
Morgan smiled and said, "I’ll be heading back shortly, don’t mind me, carry on with your work."
Everyone seemed to be there for overtime due to a case, so Morgan patiently waited in the lobby.
About twenty minutes later, he saw Erin coming out.
She had changed into her casual clothes, probably ready to clock out and go home.
Morgan immediately got up to greet her, "Officer Yates, off work now?"
Erin’s light steps halted abruptly, her expression turned extremely sour.
Instead of stopping to chat because Morgan greeted her, she quickened her pace towards the police station exit upon recognizing him.
Morgan matched her pace, following right behind Erin, "Working so late must be tiring, right? Hungry? Can I treat you to a late-night snack?"
Erin turned to glare at him, "Stop bothering me!"
"What’s wrong? Bad mood? Is the case difficult or is someone bullying you?"
Standing by the roadside, Erin clenched her fist and took a deep breath, looking at Morgan with an extremely restrained demeanor, asking, "What exactly do you want?!"
Morgan said with a mischievous smile, "Can’t you tell? I want to woo you, want to be your boyfriend."
Hearing this, Erin didn’t feel moved or shy like most girls would after a confession, instead she said, "Why are you so petty? You’re holding a grudge just because of that overhead throw, aren’t you? I’ve already apologized, stop pestering me, alright?"
"I’ve long forgotten about that, it was my fault back then. Erin did well, if you encounter scumbags like that again, just beat them."
Erin rolled her eyes to the sky, this guy still knows he’s a scumbag.
"Erin, I’m sincere, I know I had a bad image before, but I’ll definitely change, you..."
Unable to listen anymore, Erin interrupted Morgan, "Alright, let’s assume you’re genuinely interested in pursuing me, I’m telling you clearly right now, you’re not my type and I’ll never agree, so stop bothering me."
Morgan switched to asking, "Then what type do you like?"
Annoyed, Erin replied, "I like the type who ignores me, the more you cling, the more I dislike you!"
Of course, Morgan knew Erin intentionally said this, so he followed her logic and replied, "Well now, what a coincidence, I also like the ones who ignore me, the more she ignores me, the more I like her."
"I don’t have time to argue with you, if you dare come to my workplace to mess around again, I’ll dig into your past, surely I’ll find a couple of things, don’t regret it when you end up in jail!"
Morgan grinned and said, "Don’t waste your effort, it’d break my heart to see you tired. I’m a law-abiding citizen, never done anything wrong, checking is pointless."
Tired of arguing, Erin stood by the roadside and took out her phone to hail a cab.
Morgan glanced down, snatched her phone, and canceled her order, saying, "This late at night, I’m not comfortable with you taking someone else’s car, I’ll drive you home."
Erin glared, Morgan hesitated for a moment before chuckling and returning her phone, "Though you look cute even when angry, getting angry all the time will cause wrinkles. Look, I’ve waited for you so long, let me drive you home, I’ll just drop you off downstairs and leave."
In a chilling tone, Erin asked, "Do you want to eat prison food or hospital meals?"
"Hey, stop scaring me with words like these, I’m so innocent, obviously harmless. Anyway, if I had any bad intentions, I still can’t beat you."
Erin saw a taxi just pass by, she hurried to hail it, but before she could, Morgan pushed her hand down and pulled Erin towards his car saying, "I followed you home that night after work, so you don’t need to worry about me knowing your address, I already do."
Hearing Morgan describe his stalking so casually made Erin furious, "That’s stalking and harassment, you must be sick!"
Morgan opened the car door and started acting cute with Erin, "Don’t be mad at me, I was just worried you might run into trouble late at night, didn’t do anything bad, okay? Hop in, it’s late, don’t delay, go home and get some rest, you still have work tomorrow."
Morgan, like coaxing a child, stuffed Erin into the car. At the police station entrance, Erin didn’t want to cause a scene, so she sat in the car and buckled up, ready to settle accounts with Morgan.
Morgan happily sat in the driver’s seat, reversing while saying, "Next time you’re this late off work, call me, I’ll pick you up, okay?"
"Don’t try to get chummy with me, we’re not close, and should you dare visit me here tomorrow, I’ll... I’ll beat you up!"
Morgan eyed the tiny fist she held up against him and teased, "Your domestic violence index is quite high, you need to learn to control your temper better. I’m delicate and can’t take punches."
