Chapter 873: Chapter 873: I’m Serious About You

Erin Yates looked down at her phone, seeming like she had a lot of messages to deal with, and ignored what Morgan Quinn said.

But Morgan Quinn rambled on alone for a while, glanced at Erin Yates, and jealously asked, "Erin, who are you chatting with?"

Without looking up, Erin replied, "None of your damn business."

Morgan Quinn pursed his lips and continued, "You don’t have a boyfriend, right?"

Erin remained silent, her fingers typing rapidly on her phone.

Then, Morgan answered his own question, "You probably don’t. With your personality, no man would dare chase you."

Erin turned her head to glare at Morgan, and he smiled ingratiatingly, adding, "Otherwise, with a woman as beautiful as you, there’s no reason you wouldn’t find someone. It must be because you’re always so fierce that people don’t dare approach you."

"Why do you even care?! What’s wrong with my temper?! Who are you to tell me?!"

"Why are you mad again? I didn’t say your temper was bad. I actually like it. But being angry all the time isn’t good for your health. Think about it. You work so hard during the day, and you’re still fuming after work. That’s not good for you."

Erin gave a forced smile and said, "If you didn’t bother me, I’d be happy after work."

Morgan put on a hurt look and said, "I didn’t even do anything. Why are you mad at me?"

"Stop pretending with me, and speak honestly!"

After turning right at the intersection, Morgan drove onto a straight road, took a sidelong glance at Erin, and sincerely said, "I’ve been speaking honestly with you. I really like you. Everything I said just now was from the heart. No matter what, you don’t believe me, so how about I swear an oath?"

Erin scoffed lightly, looked back at her phone to read the reply she was getting.

Morgan started swearing his oath on his own accord, "If I’ve ever deceived Erin with a single word, may I never achieve an erection for the rest of my life!"

Erin paused her typing, looked at Morgan with an utterly baffled expression, and then said lightly, "If vows were that effective, that’d be great."

"You still don’t believe me!"

"Believing you would mean there’s something wrong with my brain. We’re not the same type of people. I don’t judge your personal life; that’s your way of living, but I have no intention of getting involved in your mess. I’m not interested in you at all."

Morgan hastily defended himself, "Erin, I..."

"Don’t call me Erin!"

"Then what should I call you? At work, you’re Officer Yates, but off work, I don’t want to call you that, Yates?"

As he spoke, Morgan glanced at Erin; seeing that her reaction wasn’t as strong as before, he continued, "Yates, I admit I was a bit of a jerk before, but that’s because I hadn’t met you. I was just searching for the right one among the many flowers. If I’d met you earlier, I definitely wouldn’t have had anything to do with those other women."

Erin looked down at her phone, not saying a word, seemingly allowing enough time to see what flowered excuses Morgan could come up with.

"I’m serious. After meeting you, I realized how meaningless my past flings were, completely devoid of substance. Now, I deeply regret not meeting you sooner. You’ve truly enriched my life."

"I won’t deny it. Initially, I approached you just because you look beautiful. But after interacting with you, I discovered many brilliant qualities in you. Every word, every action, and even every movement of yours captivates me. I can’t explain why, but after seeing you, other women just pale in comparison. You truly possess a special charm and magic that enthralls me."

After hearing Morgan’s lengthy flattery, some younger girls might have been at least somewhat swayed, if not completely enchanted.

But Erin calmly put away her phone, smiled, and said, "How many girls have you tricked with that speech? You probably know it by heart. Let me tell you, even though I just graduated from the police academy and lack experiences compared to you, I’m not a fool. I’ve met plenty of men like you. You weave better tales than songs."

"I’m really not that kind of person! Ask any of my friends, I never make promises I can’t keep!"

"Alright, stop wasting everyone’s time. Who knows, you might be rushing off to some other girl’s room after dropping me off. I can’t afford any delays. Don’t waste your time with me; your tricks don’t work here."

Erin put her phone back in her bag, unbuckled her seatbelt, pointed ahead, and said, "Alright, park at the next intersection, I’m going to the pharmacy. You go do your thing. Anyway, thanks for the ride tonight. And don’t come find me again. Let me be clear, pursuing me is a fruitless endeavor for you."

Morgan obediently parked by the roadside but didn’t unlock the door. With his most genuine and sincere gaze, he told Erin, "I know my image in your mind isn’t good, and that’s my fault, but I’ll prove to you with actions that I am serious about you!"

There was no hint of emotion from Erin. She just tapped on the car window and reminded, "Open the door."

Morgan opened the car door, and as Erin got out, he quickly followed her.

He tailed behind Erin into the pharmacy, watching as she communicated with the staff and purchased some cold medicine.

When it was time to pay, Morgan had already prepared to pay with his phone, so as soon as the cashier was ready, he immediately handed over his payment code.

Upon witnessing this, Erin only paused slightly, not because she was moved or anything, but simply surprised at Morgan’s gesture.

However, she thought about how many playboys use small amounts of money to charm girls, and she wouldn’t fall for that.

So Erin said nothing, grabbed the bag of medicine, and walked out of the pharmacy.

Morgan rushed after her once he finished paying.

The pharmacy was right next to Erin’s residential area, and she quickly headed towards the community after leaving.

Morgan caught up, grabbed Erin’s arm, and stopped her, looking down to say, "I haven’t finished talking."

Erin swatted his hand away, using the little patience she had left, and said, "Go ahead."

Morgan scratched his head, asking, "Can’t you drop such a big prejudice against me? I’ve really changed. I only went to a bar twice after coming back and haven’t been since."

Erin sighed and said, "I think you still don’t understand what I mean. Let’s put it another way. No matter what kind of person you were, you’re not the type I like. Even if you hadn’t done those obnoxious things, I still wouldn’t like you. Moreover, with everything you’ve done, there’s no way I’d ever like you."
