Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 871: Don’t Be So Pessimistic
After arriving at the crime scene, Franklin Sutton brought Blanc and a few others over.
Erin Yates got out of the car and handed over the documents. Blanc noticed the pile of stuff on the passenger seat and joked with a smile, "Officer Yates, you went all out and even bought us afternoon tea."
Seeing the bags of snacks and milk tea under the seat, Erin Yates didn’t know what to do with them, so she smiled and said, "Take them out and share them with everyone."
Lynn Bishop laughed with joy, "Our comrade Yates is so thoughtful. I just happened to want some milk tea."
Erin Yates, feeling thirsty herself, casually grabbed a milk tea and walked aside, drinking while discussing the case with Franklin Sutton.
Meanwhile, Blanc and a bunch of guys surrounded the milk tea and snacks, devouring them ravenously.
After being left halfway, Morgan Quinn hailed a cab back to the precinct to get his own car.
The hand that Erin Yates twisted still hurt a bit—it seems that woman could really pack a punch!
Morgan Quinn returned to the company gloomily, greeted by Faye Xavier’s complaint: "Where the hell did you go? There’s a pile of work waiting and you only show up now. Did you oversleep during your nap?"
Morgan Quinn took a deep breath and plopped into his chair, lazily saying, "What’s the matter? You’ve pretty much wrapped up everything here." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"Master Shane wants it before he finishes work. I’m so busy I can’t even find time to pee!"
"Well, I’m here now. What’s left to deal with?"
Faye Xavier tossed the documents onto Morgan Quinn’s desk and said, "You’ve been acting so weird lately. Are you secretly up to something behind my back?"
Morgan Quinn muttered, "Up to what? Hurry up and work, or we’ll be stuck here overtime again tonight."
"No way, no more overtime tonight. We haven’t hit the bar in ages, we gotta recharge tonight."
Morgan Quinn looked down at the documents in his hands, silent for two seconds, then said, "I’m not going. You go by yourself."
Faye Xavier froze, shooting Morgan Quinn a look like he was a freak, doubtfully saying, "You’re not going? Did you find a new hangout you’re not sharing?"
Morgan Quinn simply replied, "Those girls there are boring, not worth it."
Faye Xavier eyed Morgan Quinn for several seconds before speculating, "Did something happen to you at that bar? And now regular stuff isn’t enough for you?"
"What are you thinking? It’s just that after going to that bar, I find it uninteresting, rather disgusting!"
"If your brother said this, I’d believe it. But coming from you, it’s awfully strange. You and Mor haven’t swapped places, have you?!"
"No! Get to work!"
"Morgan Quinn, you’re hiding something from me! That’s not cool, are you treating me like we’re not brothers anymore?"
Morgan Quinn suddenly laughed, hinting at something: "When the time is right, I’ll tell you."
He hadn’t dared to confess yet that he was pursuing Erin Yates.
Because he wasn’t sure he could win her over, and if Faye Xavier found out about today’s incident, he’d certainly laugh at it.
If he didn’t succeed in the end, it’d be even more shameful.
So Morgan Quinn planned to wait until Erin Yates was his, then introduce her to everyone: This is my girlfriend.
Just thinking about that scene made Morgan Quinn involuntarily chuckle foolishly.
Faye Xavier thought Morgan Quinn was acting weird, like he was possessed. He took the remaining files back to his own office.
Through their mutual efforts, they finally managed a day with no overtime.
After work, Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn went to their usual restaurant.
Faye Xavier said, "A new bar opened nearby, you’re not going there?"
Morgan Quinn said, "Not going. Just a couple of drinks here is enough."
Faye Xavier eyed him suspiciously and asked, "So where are you going tonight? Just going home to lie down?"
Morgan Quinn nodded and said, "Rest. Health is important, gotta take care of yourself."
Faye Xavier: "I swear, either you’ve swapped with Mor or been possessed. Tomorrow I’m taking you to a temple to find a master for advice, you’re too eerie."
Morgan Quinn clicked his tongue and said, "Don’t you find those girls really boring? They’re all the same, today they’re happy with you, tomorrow someone else. As long as you’ve got money and looks, they’ll say anything, and they have zero personal charm. Drinking with them is such a waste of time!"
Faye Xavier furrowed his brows fiercely, staring at Morgan Quinn like there’s a stranger sitting in front of him.
Morgan Quinn: "Don’t look at me like that, you think about it. Isn’t it tiresome to spend life drifting with those women?"
Faye Xavier: "Then tell me, what would be interesting?"
Morgan Quinn: "You need pursuits, spend time with outstanding individuals, then you’ll feel that living with such people is fulfilling, is..."
Morgan Quinn paused, seeing Faye Xavier’s brows furrow tighter, he waved it off saying, "Forget it, you wouldn’t get it. It’ll make sense when you meet that person."
Faye Xavier still had a wrinkled face, looking at Morgan Quinn, feeling like this is beyond bizarre.
Across the street from the restaurant was a martial arts hall, with a big sign advertising various martial arts training.
Halfway through the meal, Morgan Quinn looked at the martial arts hall across the street and said, "Should we enroll in a class?"
Faye Xavier looked bewildered, raising his head to watch Morgan Quinn, then following Morgan Quinn’s gaze out the window to see the many training classes across the office building.
He asked, "Math Olympiad class? Youth English tutoring? Middle school mathematics?"
Morgan Quinn reached out and pointed across the air at that photo, saying, "Martial arts."
Faye Xavier withdrew his gaze, then raised his hand to check Morgan Quinn’s forehead, glancing at the unfinished red wine in Morgan Quinn’s glass, puzzled saying, "Is it some high-tech feature wine? One sip and you’re drunk? Have you drank too much?"
Morgan Quinn slapped Faye Xavier’s hand away saying, "I’m being serious. Don’t you think going to bars all the time is pointless? Better learn martial arts, it’s good for self-defense and health. Isn’t it?"
Actually, the idea struck Morgan Quinn primarily because his current skills couldn’t beat Erin Yates.
He certainly had more strength than Erin Yates, just lacking a bit of technique. He believed that after some training, he’d surely be able to conquer that woman!
But of course, Morgan Quinn wouldn’t reveal this to Faye Xavier, instead he coaxed him, "You and I aren’t youngsters anymore, it’s time to get fit, drink less—booze is bad for you. Spending leisure time on learning and fitness is worthwhile, right?"
Faye Xavier suspiciously asked, "Luc, come clean—did you secretly go for a hospital checkup and find something wrong?"
Morgan Quinn: "..."
Faye Xavier, genuinely and sincerely, said, "If you really have any issues, you should be honest with me. Master Shane and I will help you. Medicine is advanced nowadays, many illnesses can be treated, don’t be so pessimistic."
