Chapter 842: Chapter 842: The Mysterious Small County Town

Originally living alone in the entertainment RV, Scott went to sleep in Faye and Morgan’s room because they were planning to play all night on the bus.

After being awakened by the unexpected incident, he leaned against the bedhead, pulled out his phone, and browsed through his social media.

The latest post was from Evelyn, posted half an hour ago.

She posted a picture of a mountain of merchandise, captioning it: Looks like it’s time to hire some staff, I’m both exhausted and sleepy.

He also caught Evelyn’s livestream last night, which seemed to be a two-year anniversary celebration of going live, with some fan giveaways—the room was buzzing with activity.

Orders surged, looks like this money-hungry girl was pulling an all-nighter with overtime.

The post was made half an hour ago, it’s uncertain if she’s asleep now.

Evan didn’t open Evelyn’s chat box directly to ask, instead he commented below the post: Boss, do you think I’m suitable?

Evelyn, exhausted after a day’s work, had just finished her bath and was lying in bed, planning to glance at her phone before sleeping; while replying to friends’ comments, she refreshed the page and saw Scott’s message.

She was momentarily stunned, as they’d added each other as friends half a month ago, but Scott had never been active, never liked her posts, let alone commented.

If Evelyn didn’t know Scott’s true identity, she might have seriously considered his comment, thinking Scott actually wanted a job or something.

But knowing he’s a Sutton, not short on money and certainly not interested in her small business, let alone working as a packer of her merchandise.

So Evelyn didn’t respond directly to Scott, simply answering: Why aren’t you asleep yet? Are you abroad on vacation?

Scott was surprised by Evelyn’s quick response, smiled at his phone screen, and typed back: I got up to use the bathroom, you’ve been busy until now?

Evelyn: Yes, nothing like you, the carefree young master touring the world. I’m heading to bed—you should sleep too.

Scott wanted to chat more but seeing it was late and imagining Evelyn’s fatigue, he was silent for two minutes before replying: I’ll be back in a couple of days, anything you need I can bring back as a gift.

But Evelyn had already fallen asleep, her phone still in hand, the screen still bright, the stream stuck on the post as if waiting for Scott’s reply, but she succumbed to sleep.

Scott waited a few minutes, didn’t get a reply from Evelyn, and put down the phone.

Imagining Evelyn sleeping soundly, his mood seemed to relax as well.

Watching her broadcasts every day, he felt her optimism and positive attitude towards life were really infectious to those around her.

On the entertainment RV, Faye entered the bus with an umbrella, closed it, and said to everyone, "False alarm, nothing happened. There’s a landslide ahead blocking the road, let’s keep playing."

The bob-cut girl yawned, "Still playing? I’m feeling a bit sleepy."

Faye: "Well, I’ve let others use my room. You don’t have a place to sleep now, but there’s a single bed in the rest area where you could lie down."

Another brunette woman said, "I checked the weather forecast, it seems it’ll rain these days—was the landslide serious? We might not leave soon, might we?"

Faye: "Who cares, we’re here for fun and not on a schedule. If we can’t leave, we’ll just play here for two days, no big deal."

Brunette woman: "Actually my place is quite close. If we can’t leave, how about playing at my place for two days?"

Morgan joked nonchalantly, "Oh? Are you planning to introduce me to your parents?"

The brunette woman replied, forced smile, "You’re overthinking it."

Faye: "Let’s see at dawn—the road might clear."

Brunette woman nodded with a smile, "Hope so, shall we keep playing?"

Morgan: "I’m grabbing two more bottles."

...

As daylight gradually appeared, everyone started getting up.

The rain was slightly lighter than last night, but the sky was still gloomy.

While Audrey was brushing her hair in the bus, Shane brought breakfast onboard.

"Stop dawdling, get up and eat breakfast."

Audrey still seemed sleepy, yawning, "Feel like I didn’t sleep well yesterday, now I’m exhausted."

Shane replied crankily, "You call that not sleeping well? But for going to the bathroom, you slept like a log."

Audrey: "You only see the facade, I was dreaming constantly, my brain never rested."

"Never seen you use your brain normally."

Audrey glared, Shane placed breakfast beside her dresser, reached out and stroked her just brushed hair, asked, "Dreamt about what?"

Audrey thought seriously for two seconds then shook her head, "I can’t recall, but you were there—annoyed me constantly, quite an unhappy dream."

"That’s asking for trouble—eat breakfast while it’s hot."

Audrey picked up the bowl of hot porridge, sipped a little, asked, "When can we leave?"

Shane: "Don’t know, probably once the rain stops."

Audrey: "Where’s Anna?"

Shane: "Your fourth brother took her."

Audrey chuckled, "He seems to enjoy playing with her."

Actually, Anna just loved playing, no matter with whom—if there’s fun, she’s in.

The group spent half a day there, rain continuously poured, showing no signs of stopping.

Waking up in the afternoon, Faye, favorably to the brunette woman’s suggestion—switching routes.

Brunette woman said, "Just called, the roads there are clear, not far—if we hit the highway, we’ll reach within half an hour. Though a small town, beats this wilderness."

Convinced, Faye consulted Audrey; Audrey, worried about Anna’s runny nose and the difficulty of getting cold medicine, was immediately supportive upon hearing a nearby town could be reached within 30 minutes.

The bus slowed due to weather, took an hour to reach the destination.

The town’s environment seemed alright, but nothing like a developed city—the road seemed under repair, some parts were potholed.

The street offered diverse stores, clothing, and dining, but there seemed notably more bars and motels, oddly excessive.

Stopping by a hospital, Shane accompanied Audrey, carrying Anna inside.
