Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 841: Good Night
The travel convoy set off once again, heading to the next destination.
Everyone gathered in the entertainment RV, playing endlessly enjoyable poker games.
However, Seraphina Vaughn, who was usually the most interested in these games, appeared unusually disinterested today.
Audrey Sutton placed the sleeping Anna, who was holding a milk bottle, on the children’s bed in the computer room.
After leaving, she washed Anna’s milk bottle and then made a cup of brown sugar ginger tea and brought it to Seraphina Vaughn: "You don’t seem to have much energy. Is your stomach still bothering you?"
Seraphina Vaughn was stunned for a moment, turned her head to look at Audrey Sutton, and nodded with a smile: "A little bit."
Audrey Sutton handed the steaming cup to Seraphina Vaughn and said, "Drink this; it will make you feel a bit better."
Seraphina Vaughn reached out to take it: "Our little Audrey is the most considerate."
Audrey Sutton: "I could tell you weren’t feeling well since you weren’t into the card game. Maybe you should stop playing and rest in the lounge for a while."
"No need. You’ve already made me ginger tea; I’ll feel better after drinking it."
Her illness was of the heart, and playing cards could slightly alleviate her inner sorrow. If she lay quietly in bed, she would only get more confused, and her heart would become more congested.
Audrey Sutton turned and walked to the other side of the AV room, where no movie was playing. It was quiet, with only the dim light of a phone screen illuminating the room.
Knowing Laura Yates was inside coaxing the child to sleep, Audrey Sutton quietly pushed the door open, softly asking, "Sister-in-law, is Clary asleep?"
Laura Yates seemed lost in thought, only realizing someone was there when hearing Audrey Sutton’s voice. She turned off the phone screen, put it aside, and smiled, answering Audrey Sutton, "Yes, she’s asleep."
Audrey Sutton: "Then let’s move her to the bed over there. Holding her must be tiring for your arms."
Laura Yates glanced down and said softly, "She’s not completely asleep yet, so I’ll move her later. Is Anna asleep?"
Audrey Sutton nodded: "That little guy slept sitting up after playing. She fell asleep holding the bottle after just a sip. Were you chatting with Franklin just now? He probably wants you to go back soon, right?"
Mentioning Franklin Sutton, Laura Yates’ expression darkened. She sighed and said, "Haven’t been able to reach him for two days; he hasn’t replied to my message from yesterday yet."
Audrey Sutton pursed her lips and comforted her: "Sister-in-law, don’t worry. My brother is probably busy with work. Right now, in his heart, it’s just you and the child. He’ll definitely message you once he’s done."
Laura Yates said, "I’m not worried about him messing around outside. He told me he’s on a mission and must be busy, which is why he hasn’t had time to check his phone. I’m just worried about his safety."
"My brother knows what he’s doing, sister-in-law. Don’t worry; he’ll be fine."
Laura Yates smiled and nodded, but without Franklin Sutton’s response, how could she rest easy?
He was always the type to charge ahead himself if there was any danger.
In some way, Laura Yates’ heart was selfish, even considering discussing a job change with Franklin Sutton. But she couldn’t bring herself to say it.
In the evening, the car stopped near a gas station along the way.
The sky was overcast, and rain was falling continuously.
After having dinner in the dining RV, people returned to their respective RVs one by one.
Due to the weather, night fell early.
The rain outside the window poured down heavily. In such a rainy night, some fell asleep early in their lover’s arms, while others lay in bed, tossing and turning.
As night deepened, the rain outside showed no signs of stopping.
Seraphina Vaughn was about to fall asleep when she suddenly felt the car come to a stop.
She sat up in confusion, pulled back the curtain, and looked outside the window.
The night outside was pitch black, and the glass window was covered with rainwater. Although she couldn’t see the scenery outside, she could confirm the car had stopped, and red and blue lights were flashing outside as if something had happened.
Shane gently withdrew his arm from under Audrey Sutton’s neck, adjusted the blankets for Audrey and the child, put on his shoes, threw on a coat, and walked out of the room.
He took an umbrella from the rod at the car door and stepped out.
The drivers had already gotten out of the cars. One of them came over to Shane and said: "Boss, there’s a landslide ahead that’s being fixed. We might have to stay here tonight."
Shane nodded. At first, he thought it might be a car accident: "Then park the car in a safe place and come back to rest; there’s no rush."
"Alright, I’ll go inform the others."
Shane softly acknowledged and returned to the car. Audrey Sutton showed no signs of waking and slept deeply.
It was because Shane was by her side that she could sleep so peacefully.
On the other side, Laura Yates couldn’t sleep soundly, and suddenly hearing about such an incident didn’t seem like a good omen.
She took out her phone again, and there was still no reply from Franklin Sutton to the message she had sent.
Seraphina Vaughn, looking out the window, saw Julian Bishop passing by her window with an umbrella, talking to someone in a traffic police uniform.
Putting aside his character, this guy’s appearance was indeed quite charming, with a tall and reliable-looking back...
In another car, Lana Holloway was not woken by the noise outside but by a knock on the door.
Half-asleep, she climbed out of bed and walked to the door, opening it in the dim light of the room, only to find Norman Sutton standing there.
Lana Holloway yawned and looked at Norman with a puzzled expression.
Norman spoke softly to her: "I heard there’s a landslide ahead, it’s nothing serious, just can’t travel tonight. Don’t be afraid, just sleep peacefully."
Lana Holloway nodded, not feeling that Norman was making a big deal by waking her. Instead, she was a bit surprised that Norman specifically came over to comfort her.
Did he hide this side of himself before, or has he become more thoughtful recently?
"You continue to sleep; I’ll go back to rest too."
"Okay."
"Goodnight."
Lana Holloway paused, watching Norman walk back to his room. She stood by the door and softly said to his back: "...Goodnight."
Norman’s steps halted, and he turned back, looking at Lana with pleasant surprise.
Lana smiled, slightly shy and modest, as she closed the door and returned to her room.
Norman stood by the door, staring at the closed door with a silly smile for quite a while.
For quite some time, Lana’s gentle, soft "goodnight" echoed in his mind.
