Magus Supremacy
Chapter 1050: Perish
Chapter 1050
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! BOOM!
BANG!
They darted backward and came back again in a fierce slam of their elemental weapons, causing a huge explosion to ripple out that forced the ground apart for a second.
Grey panted as he quickly blinked from view and reappeared on the ground.
They had been in the air constantly colliding with one another, yet he hadn’t even been able to find an opening he could capitalize on.
Even though he had more affinities than his father, the man was still a massive problem due to his teleportation ability.
He could lock the ability down with one of his spatial magic skills, but he doubted if it would work at all.
The man before him was an Original—one of the first ever mages in human history.
Knowing that he had been studied for years, he knew the man would have known about his affinity and, in the same sense, seen it work since he had used it against Upper Zodiac Five before.
So knowing himself, if he were the one in Gustav’s shoes, he knew that he would work a way to find a counter against that.
Hence, he hadn’t even bothered to use it.
This was a first for him in a really long time—the first time he felt this way in battle.
Even the demons... Well, except for Lower Echelon Ten, since that was his first fight with a demon, that was the last time he felt so overwhelmed.
Oh, he had been overwhelmed by Orion then.
But even that bastard had taken heavy hits from him and was even forced to reveal his beast form.
So why the hell was Gustav not taking any damage, while it was him instead being scratched and harmed?
What was he doing wrong?
Teleportation... lightning... metal.
That’s all. This shouldn’t be hard in the first place, so why was it?
Why couldn’t he overpower this man?
He was the Supreme Magus... the Supreme Yun warrior.
Powerful both in the use of mana and ki, so why? Why the hell was Gustav still not being beaten?
It had been several minutes since they arrived on this planet, and he couldn’t help but worry about the safety of his friends and allies, especially with the presence of Zodiac One there.
Who knew what could happen the longer he spent here?
’Or should I breakthrough? Could that help me find something?’
His brows knit in exhaustion as he still lifted his Ki sword, pointing it at the man hovering in the air.
’... Or should I use my domain? But that could backfire if he has a domain too. If he pulls that out, I could be toast considering the fact that he is an original.’
"Godslayers... Do you know why they are called that?" Gustav questioned as he slowly fluttered back to the earth with a grin on his face.
Grey’s brows twitched in confusion, but he refused to engage the man and instead just focused on recovering.
His side still throbbed in pain from the previous puncture of the man’s strange technique.
"That’s because they have the power to rival the celestials and even those gods without being one themselves. And do you know what those celestials do when they find someone stronger than them who isn’t a celestial yet?"
Grey frowned.
Gustav just smirked.
"They would kill them. Hunt them down while sending celestials to finish them off. When I found out about this, I decided that I won’t be the hunted. I will instead become the hunter."
’Anything to give myself time to recover my breathing and myself. I will take it, so keep on talking...’
"That’s one of the reasons I began destroying worlds. Three reasons I founded the Otherworlders," Gustav said as he pointed three fingers forward.
"The first was my revenge against the other Originals for using and then discarding me aside.
The second was to hunt the celestials. Each world has a specific amount of celestials guarding it.
The more lifeforms there are on the world, the more celestials there will be. Arondale is one such world, and so is Vayun.
Hence, I went from world to world, taking down the lives that worshipped them and even the celestials themselves. Hence, I earned the title of a GodSlayer because I have the strength to take down gods."
Grey raised a brow. "And the third reason?"
Gustav smiled, a chilling one. "You don’t want to know."
An irritated frown creased the warrior-mage’s face as he glared at the man.
"So why the hell give me such a long speech then?!"
"..."
"That’s because you are also a threat to the Celestials and the gods."
"Meaning?"
"You have the potential to become either a GodSlayer or a Celestial. But since you are still far from a normal evolution to become a Celestial, being a GodSlayer is now the most obvious path for you."
"Which means?"
"Which means that the Celestials would hunt you before you become too strong for them to handle.
Knowing you, you wouldn’t want to be trapped under anybody and have your movements restricted, hence you wouldn’t want to become a celestial. They will hunt you the same way they want me gone."
"...."
"So? Don’t tell me that you suddenly care about me," Grey questioned with a mocking smile.
"I just don’t want to see my seed that’s incredibly powerful lose his life meaninglessly, which is why I’m offering you this very last chance; Join me, Grey, or prepare to be put down forever by me even before the Celestials get to you."
The threat was set and the conditions were clear, yet Grey pointed his ki sword horizontally then tilted it enough for his reflection to be seen.
A small smile creased his face.
"Otherworlders or Celestials... anybody who dares cross my path would be cut down by me, so no! I refuse your offer!"
"...."
Sigh—!
"Very well then. Perish."
Gustav vanished from view and reappeared directly behind the Supreme Magus with a gleaming metallic longsword swung toward his neck with blazing speed.
