God Ash: Remnants of the fallen. - Chapter 1075: A Battle of Principles (2).
Cain stared at the world around him falling to pieces in amazement.
Anathe had forcibly taken the battle away from the chamber with the god’s remnant, smashing Evangeline through layers of dark chitin all the way through the Colony.
As they broke forth from the surface of the ground, chaos ensued as the mutated creatures that had come to call the Colony home all scattered haphazardly in all directions due to the disturbance.
Some beasts that were easily triggered went on to mindlessly trample on the smaller creatures beneath their paws and hooves.
Some carnivores took advantage of the opportunity to catch and kill their confused prey indiscriminately.
Even as order was sought after by the more intelligent creatures, the nature of beasts truly was something that could not be easily contained.
At the moment, however, Anathe seemed to pay noind to her glorious territory.
The axe in her hand had become a weapon of mass destruction and chaos.
Her other hand created signs and drew symbols into the air, channeling all forms of destructive magic that constantly bombarded the swiftly shadow that was Evangeline.
Alternating between the shadow and the real world, Evangeline was only barely able to stage off the furious assault.
All attempts at retaliation for her were completely shut down too as the Ant Queen’s defense, in the form of thousands upon thousands of bodies that were completely willing to give their lives for her, was constantly active. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
To make things even worse, these beasts were more than just defensive shields.
No, far from it.
They were also capable of attacking her as well.
Dealing with their onslaught would have been more than enough to wear her down in minutes. However, Evangeline was not just fast.
She was also cunning.
Plus, with her unique weapon, she was able to give the Ant Queen quite the headache as well.
The ability to simply vanish from the physical world was quite the intriguing skill.
As she watched another one of her attacks land harmlessly on the ground, Anathe’s brows twitched in frustration.
No matter how powerful her attacks were, it would make no difference if they couldn’t hit their target.
At the moment, they had reached a sort of chaotic stalemate. The elusive Shadow Queen couldn’t come close to the powerful ant Queen suspended in the air.
The powerful Ant Queen could also only strike ag the shadow of the Shadow Queen.
Still, neither one of them relented in the ferocity of their attacks. The bodies of the beasts continued to drop as they were slaughtered by the swirling darkness of rampant shadows as well as the occasional blood spike and arrow.
Watching all this from afar, Cain had a contemplative look on his face. Far away from all the danger, although the battle had just begun, it looked like the outcome was perhaps already sealed.
’She has no advantage here.’
The physical strength of the Ant Queen had been rather surprising.
Even a single blow from her would turn even him to a cripple. And that was saying a lot when he considered the defensive capabilities of his Demon form.
She also could use long range magical attacks. And since those attacks didn’t have a clear elemental affinity, it was difficult to find hard counters to them.
The most Evangeline could do at the moment, was run.
However, that didn’t mean the battle would go completely one-sided. In fact, he truly believed Evangeline had a chance to turn things around.
’The energy of that thing keeps growing.’
Something about the ball of crimson energy that came into view everytime Evangeline reappeared reminded him of the crimson Moon that absorbed vital energy.
Except, the ball of energy above her only absorbed the blood and energy of the slain creatures.
And with every kill, the condensed energy levels only seemed to increase.
Very soon, Cain imagined it would reach dangerous heights, perhaps even exploding, or worse...
The outcome of such a thing, he feared, was not something he could imagine.
Cain huffed deeply.
His eyes scanning the surrounding area took notice of the many creatures running away from the Colony.
The battle was sure to create casualties that were completely uninvolved in the matter. Even the shockwaves from their clashes were more than enough to destroy the black chitin that was famous for its strength, all the more, the fragile bodies of much less powerful beasts.
Cain’s brows trembled and he let out a sigh as he rose up from the cold dirt.
’Might as well help out a little.’
The creatures most in danger, where the smaller critters and vermin, as well as those that were largely considered prey.
They were being hunted down by larger creatures that thought to use the pandemonium as the avenue to bare their fangs and indulge in their beastly desires that had been initially suppressed by the relative peace of the Colony.
Most hunts usually happened outside the colony and in designated hunting grounds as hunting was strictly prohibited within the Colony.
Now, these mad creatures were free to do as they pleased for the time being.
A pack of {Blackmane Lycans}, a dozen strong, encircled a large pack of {Goldhorned Stag}.
The more docile creatures huffed and trotted nervously as the sinister predators stalked around them in broad daylight.
A larger Stag with a golden mane stepped right in front of the horde to address the largest wolf in the pack,
"Alcar, why do you choose to do this? Must we descend to barbarism again?!"
The leader of the #(Blackmane Lycan} pack cackled sinisterly,
"The laws of this stupid Colony favors only you prey. Because of this, we are forced to salivate everyday as you rub your rumps in our faces!"
Alcar howled, his dark eyes flashing with terrifying light.
Gone was the need to suppress his desires and lust for the flesh of his prey.
"That ends today, Bistror! Today, I shall consume y—"
A cloud of dust was kicked up all of a sudden, forcing Bistror, the leader of the {Goldhorned Stag} herd to recoil in shock.
The rest of his herd went into a panic as well, while the pack of wolves seemed rather on edge, their teeth bared and growls cutting through the rest of the chaos.
When the dust settled, an unconscious Alcar lay on the floor. Right beside the giant wolf, wielding an enormous black blade, was a much smaller creature.
Bistror almost couldn’t believe his eyes,
"A human?"
