God Ash: Remnants of the fallen. - Chapter 1074: A Battle of Principles (1).
Watching as the observer, although the current situation was slightly beyond what he had expected, Cain couldn’t help but be curious.
Curious for what?
Why, he was curious about the extent of the abilities of both girls.
While he did have some idea of what Evangeline was capable of with her {Shadow World} and Blood elemental magic, he didn’t believe what he knew was the full extent of her capabilities.
Anathe on the other hand was a complete mystery to him. Plus, something about their earlier exchange had left him a bit perplexed and suspicious.
’Anathe had said "another like me". What does that mean? She and Eva are similar I what way?’
They were both enigmas, undeniably. However, he did think they were fairly different from one another in mostly everything from what he could see.
Then...
Th secret must definitely lie in what he could not see.
Eyes narrowed, Cain watched diligently as the battle unfolded.
For about three seconds, before he was blown right off his feet and onto his backside.
"Son of a—!"
A large hole had been broken right through the ceiling.
The horde of beasts that had surrounded him were now rushing towards the sight of the battle, which he could only describe as cataclysmic.
Anathe had poked the fight away from the spur to prevent it from getting damaged. However, Evangeline seemed very eager to show little she cared about the Ant Queen’s intentions.
She cruelly threw her attacks indiscriminately and wildly, seemingly not caring if they hit Anathe or not.
The result was a fair portion of the attacks ended up flying right towards the spire. Whether this was intentional or not was not quite clear yet...
Anathe’s expression was rather dark as she called out through the storm of magic,
"Is this really how you choose to fight?"
Surrounding by a garb of shadows, Evangeline had a mocking smile on her face,
"What do you mean? Is this a conversation or a battle?"
Following her words was a rather thick blood pike that was aimed right at Anathe.
Seeing the power behind the blow, Anathe grimaced. She could easily evade such an attack. However, if she did, it would strike the surrounding walls. The resulting falling debris could land on the remnant and cause damage.
’How dirty.’
In that moment, a certain feeling of rage overwhelmed Anathe. However, the Ant Queen was quite unfamiliar with such emotions.
Seeing no other way to bleed the fury from her heart, runic patterns blossomed on the surface of her body as she shot forward, tracing an arc through the air.
The Ant Queen, compared to the other {Redscale Ants}, was of a rather small frame. The chitinous exoskeleton on parts of her body was also not a vibrant crimson.
Instead, it was of a shade closer to black than any other color.
The dainty hand of the Ant Queen punched forward.
Instantly, the air was superheated around the point of impact.
The blood pike was vaporized and the air was blasted vack, creating a ring of compressed air that was blasted right back at the surprised Evangeline.
Diving into the shadows just in the nick of time, she avoided the blast wave, which crashed into the wall of obsidian chitin behind her.
The material the chambers were created from was incredibly strong and durable. The runes within it were also defensive arrays.
However, that section of the chamber was instantly turned into black dust and rubble.
Divout of the shadows, a bead of sweat rolled down Evangeline’s temple.
Now properly furious, the Ant Queen floated in the air after recovering from the recoil of her attack.
There was a ripping sound that spread through the chamber as from her back, four wings burst out.
Her violent eyes narrowed as she pointed a finger at Evangeline.
The endless horde of mutant creatures instantly poured at her.
Evangeline clicked her tongue,
"Hey, doesn’t this count as cheating?"
Still, the battle had already kicked off in full swing.
’She’s strong. Much stronger than I expected.’ Evangeline thought to herself.
That single blow. If it had come into contact with her...
She trembled excitedly, ’That would have certainly killed me.’
Eyes glowing red in the dark, Evangeline charged forward.
The shadows around her seemed to come to life, swirling and blooming into maddening shapes that tore at the living creatures pouring towards her.
Before the boiling blood of the dead could hit the ground, however, a large ball of crimson energy behind her sucked it all up.
The more blood it devoured, the brighter its light seemed to be.
Seeing this, Anathe clicked her tongue.
The wings behind her beat furiously, heating the air so much it seemed to ignite as she shot towards the ground.
A white radiance swam between the Ant Queen’s fingers as she she pulled an object from the other;
An enormous battle axe appeared in her grip. I’ma split second, it was aimed at Evangeline’s head.
The air ripped and boiled at the tip of the axe’s blade, with enough force to cleave a mountain in half at its base.
Evangeline brought up her daggers to meet the axe.
There was a brief moment of silence.
Then the shadows, and the beasts surrounding the two were all blown to pieces, and then blown away by that single strike.
Taking three steps back, Evangeline flipped around to disperse the force of the blow.
Even still, her arms trembled slightly and the webbing between her fingers were torn causing blood to drip down her elbows.
Hovering in the air and glaring down at her with a cold look in her eye, Anathe’s expression twisted ever so slightly into a sneer,
"Who’s squashing who now?"
Evangeline chuckled as she twirled her blades and got into a stance,
"For a Queen, you sure are petty. Then again, I guess Queens are known for being petty..
Imitating Anathe from earlier, she beckoned her mockingly with a finger,
"Come."
