"Uh, you should probably just watch the security footage," Shen Yibin said, scratching his head. By now, the unlucky Boss Song and Chen San had already been handcuffed by the police. Egg had been so vicious that Shen Yibin hadn’t even recognized Boss Song.

"We also have the footage from the surveillance cameras at the entrance. You can come over to our post to get it later," the officer on duty in the guard post quickly added. They were also in a cold sweat. They’d just dozed off for a moment and someone had managed to sneak into the store. Luckily, nothing serious had happened. If Hah’Er had been stolen, they would have been in huge trouble.

"Let me see." The lead officer followed Sylvie to the computer and quickly scanned through the footage. Everything was on video, from Chen San and his partner entering the store to Sakai Kaori stepping in to stop them, and then to Hah’Er and Egg rushing down to take care of the two poor devils. The officers’ eyes twitched as they watched.

Several of them kept glancing back at Hah’Er. Who would have thought that such an adorable-looking panda could be so ruthless in a fight? That downward slam was so brutal the criminal could barely straighten his back. And this Raccoon Cat—its claws were so fast! These two criminals had some truly rotten luck running into them.

"Captain, the footage from the other cameras is here. I just watched it; the entire process of them picking the lock was recorded. We also found the lock-picking tools." Soon, the other set of security footage was brought over.

"This evidence should be more than enough." The on-site photography and evidence collection were also finished. This wasn’t a major case, so this was pretty much all they needed to do. The lead officer prepared to wrap up and take Boss Song and Chen San back for questioning. "Boss Shen, please leave us your phone number. We may need to trouble you again in the next few days."

"Of course, of course." Shen Yibin gave them his phone number. And with that, the matter was concluded. The police escorted the two criminals into their car and left, while the other officers returned to their guard post.

"Everyone, let’s all go back to sleep," Shen Yibin said with a yawn. It was that time of night when exhaustion really hits. After the initial adrenaline rush, he could barely keep his eyes open. "Don’t worry about work tomorrow morning; just come in whenever you wake up. And Sakai, if you’re scared, you can go upstairs and squeeze in with Sun Qian and the others."

However, Sakai Kaori wasn’t worried at all and decided to stay downstairs. Shen Yibin and the others didn’t have the energy to persuade her, so they all crawled back into their beds and quickly fell asleep.

The next morning, Shen Yibin was woken up by a knock on his door. He asked groggily, "Who is it?" ’Ugh, can’t a guy get a moment of peace to sleep?’

"Sir, it’s me," Sakai Kaori replied. "I’ve made breakfast for Lord Raccoon Cat. Could you please open the door and let Lord Raccoon Cat out?"

’Huh? There’s food? I’ve been the one cooking for everyone lately. Does this mean I finally get to taste someone else’s cooking?’ Filled with anticipation for Sakai Kaori’s culinary skills, much of Shen Yibin’s drowsiness faded. "Please wait a moment, I’ll be right there."

"Hah’Er, Egg, the sun’s up! Time to get out of bed," Shen Yibin called out to the two snoring creatures while he got dressed.

"Oh, you really shouldn’t have! Making us breakfast is too much trouble. What did you make today?" Once he was dressed, Shen Yibin opened the door and said with a smile.

"It’s no trouble at all. This is what I should be doing." Sakai Kaori gave a sweet smile and welcomed Egg to the dining table. On the table were several small side dishes and a bowl of congee.

’Sigh, she didn’t even think to bring up a few more bowls,’ Shen Yibin grumbled inwardly. But since she had gone to the trouble of making breakfast, Shen Yibin couldn’t really say anything. He shuffled into the kitchen, his stomach rumbling, intending to serve himself a bowl. But when he lifted the pot lid, he froze.

’What the— There’s only a thin layer of congee left in the pot, not even enough for a mouthful! Did Sakai Kaori really only make breakfast for Egg? That’s just cruel!’

"What’s for breakfast today?" Just then, a yawning Sylvie appeared at the kitchen doorway. "I slept in for two extra hours today, and I’m starving."

"Just a minute. I’ll make some shredded chicken congee for you guys," Shen Yibin replied listlessly. ’Sigh, I guess I’m still the one who has to cook.’

After breakfast, the store opened for business again. Shen Yibin had Sakai Kaori follow Sun Qian to learn the ropes of the shop, and Sakai Kaori readily agreed.

At first, everything was fine. Whatever Sun Qian said or did, Sakai Kaori paid close attention and would ask questions from time to time. But things changed later on. As soon as a customer came in or Sun Qian was busy with something else, Sakai Kaori would dash over to Egg’s side and constantly ask if it needed anything.

"Lord Raccoon Cat, these are snacks I brought from the Shrine. Would you please see if they are to your liking?" Of course, the snacks were only for Egg; there was nothing for Shen Yibin or anyone else.

"Gah?" Egg took the exquisitely made snack and sniffed it. It then tilted its head and gave a piece to Hah’Er. After a moment’s hesitation, it handed another piece to Shen Yibin and took one for itself.

’Attaboy. My doting on you all this time wasn’t for nothing.’ Shen Yibin’s mood instantly improved considerably.

"Lord Raccoon Cat, shall I feed you?" When lunchtime arrived, Sakai Kaori once again sat beside Egg, patiently lifting food with her chopsticks and bringing it to Egg’s mouth.

Meanwhile, Egg looked enviously at Hah’Er, who was wolfing down his food nearby. ’Eating like that is so much more satisfying,’ it seemed to think. ’These tiny little bites are pure torture.’

It was the same in the afternoon and at dinnertime. Sakai Kaori continuously offered Egg all sorts of food and drink, kneeling reverently on a cushion and bringing sake to Egg’s lips.

Even the evening wasn’t peaceful. After Egg finished leading the aunties in their plaza dancing, Sakai Kaori stood in front of it like a mother hen protecting her chick, absolutely forbidding anyone from offending Egg.

Shen Yibin and Sylvie looked at each other, at a loss for words. ’She’s practically become Egg’s personal maid.’

’Sigh, I wonder if all this is actually helping to raise her affinity level?’ Back in the store and sitting on the sofa, Shen Yibin scratched his head, thinking, ’I might as well open the app and see if the affinity between Sakai Kaori and Egg has changed.’

So Shen Yibin pulled out his phone, opened the affinity testing app, and selected "re-test." Before long, the latest affinity reading for Sakai Kaori and Egg appeared on the screen.

’Huh? So the affinity level really did change?’
