What the heck? Sakai Kaori had been serving Egg so attentively these past two days. Shen Yibin had thought that even if the affinity score didn’t increase, it would at least stay the same. Who would have thought it would actually drop by a point?

"Based on recent interactions, the client’s behavior has caused the pet considerable discomfort. This category is worth 20 points, and the client scored a 9." And it was for the category with the lowest score to begin with.

’Is it wrong to take *too* good care of it?’ Shen Yibin’s gaze drifted over to Egg. It was lying listlessly on the sofa, letting Sakai Kaori groom its fur, while its eyes followed Hah’Er with envy as the panda carried a basket to feed the other pets.

"Miss Sakai, does its fur really need to be groomed so perfectly?" Shen Yibin couldn’t help but say. ’Damn it, Egg’s fur is now tidier than my own hair.’ "How about we let it help Hah’Er feed the other pets?"

"Oh, I’m so sorry! I’ll go help with the feeding right away." Sakai Kaori thought Shen Yibin was rushing her to get to work. "But Lord Raccoon Cat has been active for so long, it must be exhausted. Let’s let it rest for a little while!"

But when Egg tried to get up, she stopped it. ’How could a noble being like Lord Raccoon Cat perform such chores? Back at the Shrine, this is all work for the witches and Assistant Witches!’

"Gah?" Looking as if it had lost the will to live, Egg flopped back onto the sofa. It limply patted its belly, letting out a series of mournful cries as if protesting its unfair treatment.

’A beautiful girl is waiting on you hand and foot, and you’re still not happy? What is wrong with you? Sigh, I wish I had a cute maid like that...’ Shen Yibin rolled his eyes, at a complete loss for words.

"Alright, it’s getting late. Everyone should get some rest." He hadn’t slept well last night, and Shen Yibin was now yawning nonstop. Seeing that the chores were finished, he stood up to head upstairs.

"I’m sleepy too. Good night, boss." Sylvie said, covering her mouth with her hand. "Miss Sakai, come get some rest with us." Earlier today, Shen Yibin had taken the time to buy a bunk bed and set it up in their bedroom. Sakai Kaori finally didn’t have to sleep on the sofa tonight.

"Okay. Thank you for everything." Sakai Kaori watched wistfully as Egg followed Shen Yibin into his bedroom. She had actually hoped Egg would come rest in her room, but she wasn’t alone anymore. She didn’t know how Sylvie and Sun Qian would feel about it, so she decided it was best to wait and see.

’Sigh, how is anyone supposed to sleep in such a clean and tidy bed? Is this even my bed anymore? It feels like I’ve moved into a new house.’ Although he was exhausted, Shen Yibin found he couldn’t fall asleep as he lay in bed.

As for Egg, who had climbed onto its little bed, it was even more restless. For the entire day, aside from its evening of square dancing, it had been under Sakai Kaori’s meticulous, smothering care. It hadn’t been able to roughhouse with Hah’Er and Cheeky like it usually did.

But now, with Sakai Kaori asleep next door, there was finally no one to boss it around. Egg instantly perked up. It scrambled onto Hah’Er’s little bed in a flash and poked the panda’s belly with its paw.

"Hmph!" Hah’Er had just closed its eyes, ready to sleep, when Egg woke it up. Understandably annoyed, it raised a thick paw and swatted Egg right off the bed and onto the floor.

But not only was Egg not angry, it was actually excited. It let out a few goofy laughs, mouth wide open, and climbed back onto Hah’Er’s bed. It was immediately swatted off again. This happened several times, but Egg never tired of the game. Its fur, which Sakai Kaori had just groomed to perfection, was now a complete mess, and it was covered in dust.

A moment ago, with its perfectly groomed, spotless fur, Egg had looked like a dazzling young master from a wealthy family. Now, with its fur a mess and splotches of dust all over, it had instantly transformed from a young noble into a wild, free-range kid from a poor family.

’Huh. But why do I find Egg more endearing like this? This is the Raccoon Cat I remember bringing back from the forest. Maybe this is its true nature? Perhaps Egg doesn’t like Sakai Kaori’s method of treating it like the young master of a noble house?’

Watching Egg and Hah’Er roughhousing, goofy and happy, Shen Yibin thought he was starting to understand why Sakai Kaori’s affinity score had dropped instead of rising.

"Bin, can you get Egg and Hah’Er to quiet down? We’re trying to sleep!" Apparently, the ruckus had carried over to the next room. Sylvie had sent him a complaint on WeChat.

"Egg’s going nuts for some reason and keeps provoking Hah’Er. I’ll go separate them. To be honest, I want to get some sleep too," Shen Yibin quickly replied.

"Okay, Bin is going to stop them," Sylvie said to Sun Qian, putting down her phone.

"Will Lord Raccoon Cat be alright?" Sakai Kaori, however, was worried. "The panda is so sturdy. If they fight, Lord Raccoon Cat will surely be at a disadvantage."

"Oh, it’s nothing. Those two are at it every day. You’ll get used to it," Sylvie said with a dismissive wave of her hand. One of them is tough and thick-skinned, the other is nimble and quick. When they play-fight, neither one really gets hurt. She’d seen them go at it countless times over the past few days, and neither had ever managed to get the upper hand.

"They’re just playing. Hah’Er and Egg both know how to hold back," Sun Qian, being more observant, said reassuringly, having noticed Sakai Kaori’s concern.

Sakai Kaori sat dazedly on her bed, staring nervously at the wall as if trying to see through it. Sylvie and Sun Qian’s words hadn’t been enough to put her mind at ease. Every time she heard a cry from Egg through the wall, her heart clenched with worry, terrified that it was getting hurt.

’Pandas are supposed to be cute animals, so why is this one so rough?’ She was even starting to dislike Hah’Er. ’Yes. Tomorrow, I must take extra good care of Lord Raccoon Cat. I absolutely cannot let it be harmed by that horrid panda.’ Sakai Kaori secretly made her resolve. She only managed to drift off to sleep after the sounds of roughhousing from the next room finally faded away.

In the other room, Shen Yibin had finally managed to coax Egg into sleeping on his own bed. The bout of roughhousing with Hah’Er seemed to have satisfied it, and soon, both creatures were letting out soft snores.

’I’ll have to talk to Sakai Kaori tomorrow. This way of treating Egg just isn’t going to work.’ Shen Yibin realized that successfully selling Egg to her wasn’t going to be as easy as he’d first thought.
