" Did you just try to wipe out my mind again!" Annie shouted at the confused Adrian. He used telepathy instead.

Inside her mind he saw golden strings forming something akin to a barrier. " That damned leprechaun."

" Oh so I’m a leprechaun now huh? First you try to wipe out my memories and then you call me a leprechaun.

You know what, stop being a fucken coward, if you don’t want me just say so instead of hiding behind your mind magic thingy."

’ Damnit she’s mad, why the hell did that not work, okay what to do now, lie, yeah lying is the only option now.’

" You misunderstood, I wasn’t trying to wipe out you memories or anything like that, you totally misunderstood."

" Oh really? Is that why you said, Forget everything about me, live your life and be happy while your eyes were glowing?"

Adrian sighed, " Fine you got me but I’m doing this for you, you have a family, friends, you have a life.

This new world of mine would just bring nothing but danger to you, I can’t do something like that, not to you."

Annie sighed, " Oh Adrian, if that is the case we wouldn’t be talking right now, I don’t doubt that you love me.

I don’t doubt that you want to keep me safe but let me honest sweety, you hadn’t exactly done a great job.

I’ve already been attacked and considering you’re still here, you know I’m going to be attacked again.

Even the people you sent to protect me almost died, they would’ve died had you not come.

Adrian, I don’t really understand what’s happening or what you’re going through but keeping me away isn’t keeping me safe.

The safest I’ll be is by your side." Adrian took a deep breath at that. He knew she was right, Suzie had told him the same thing.

" It’s not so simple, what about your life, what about your family and friends and that guy Cyril?"

The last part came out venomous, Annie caught on on that. " I’m not going to keep repeating myself.

You can’t keep me away anymore Adrian, I want to be by your side and I know you want me there too.

Whatever you’re going through, we’ll go through it together." She hugged him even tighter.

" You’re taking things really well aren’t you? I’m surprised." She let go of him and looked him dead on the eyes.

" I’m fucked up aren’t I? No offence sweetie but you are a walking red flag yet I can’t get you off my mind.

Since we were kids, I’ve never actually dated because I kept comparing every guy to you, strangely even those who were better than you, were still not good enough."

" Like that guy Cyril?" He asked in a venomous voice, he really didn’t like Cyril.

" Yeah like Cyril." Annie didn’t deny it, Adrian looked hurt but she just giggled.

" You deserve that by the way, enough of this, let’s talk about what we and I mean WE are going to do next."

He nodded, " I don’t think I want to face your family so you’ll have to talk to them yourself, I can’t wait to see how they handle things."

Annie shook her head, " That won’t work Adrian, I know I was attacked because I was your weakness, you love me too much.

And I love my family, unless your enemies are idiots, they will certainly target my family to get to me, If they get to me.."

" They get to me too." He sighed, " This is more troublesome than it is worth."

" Let’s go inside, you’ll have to bring back their memories, it will make talking to them much easier.

" ARE YOU CRAZY!" Annie’s mother shouted startling both Annie and Adrian, they found themselves backing off.

" You, firstly,I want to say I’m deeply sorry about you mother, she was a great woman and I pray to God your sister if found safe and sound."

Adrian nodded, " Thank you Mrs Lad..."

" But don’t you fucken dare think you can come here after so long and tell us to uproot our entire lives for you.

My family was attacked because of you, we almost died because of you not to mention the fact that vampires are real apparently!"

She was getting hysterical and Adrian was feeling very guilty. He looked at Annie expecting her to calm her mother down.

Annie looked back at him like she was telling him this was on him. Adrian just kept nodding.

Mrs Ladros kept berating him and threatening him with a belt. He didn’t dare talk back.

" Honey calm down, let the kids explain then we can kill them." Annie father spoke to calm down his wife.

’ Sir, you’re not making this any better.’ Adrian didn’t dare voice out his thoughts.

Annie finally decided to speak, " Mom please, don’t blame Adrian for this, he didn’t choose to bring those people to us."

" Oh really, he didn’t choose you say, I know you love this boy Anele but he sure damn chose this.

He could’ve stayed far away from you but no, he just had to stay close, what the hell did you expect.

That they would just leave her alone? Or maybe you wanted this, to ruin our lives, is that it?"

Adrian shook his head but Annie seemed to have had enough. " Mom please;" she shouted.

" He tried to stay away why do you think you didn’t remember anything that happened? I..I don’t want him to stay away, not again."

The pain in her voice made her mother pause. She sighed, " Annie sweetie, I understand your feelings, I do.

But we can’t just abandon our lives to live in hiding, what about your brother and sister, what about school?

Have you thought about you future, what will you do for work if you don’t study. Say you get married and have kids.

Then what, they will have to grow up in hiding and never have a normal life, if that what you want?

What about us, are supposed to grow old while running as well? Your father and I want to spend our old age in peace not in hiding, no way we’re coming with you."

" Actually Mrs Ladros, if you turn into werewolves you’ll technically be immortal so retirement is not much of an issue, you can remain this beautiful for the next 1 000 years."
