Adrian was right, an entire day had gone by with nothing happening. Annie and her family woke up not remembering anything.

Then night came, somebody appeared right next to Adrian. It was a beautiful woman wearing a long red dress.

" Hello Seyra." He greeted her without opening his eyes.

She giggled, " To think the king of wolves still remembers me after so long, I’m flattered. Anyways, you seem to be in quite a pickle aren’t you."

He opened one eye and looked at her, " They sent you this time? They must really underestimate me."

" Oh my that’s very hurtful but you misunderstood wolf king, I’m not here for your little pet."

" Then are you here to gloat? If so, I’ll have to ask you to move before I rip your heart out, I’m not in a good mood."

She giggled, " You still violent as always, I came to see you and nobody sent me to do anything. To be more accurate I came to repay a favour I owe to somebody."

She took out a black cloak, " I was told to give you this." He took it then closed his eyes again.

" Oh my, I seem to be not welcome." She giggled. " Fine then I’ll make this quick. A war is coming to you king of wolves.

I would suggest you find a place to hide but you can’t can you! After all, you have a glaring weakness that is well known to my kind. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

I could remove it for you, save you the trouble because I can assure you, you won’t be able to protect your pet from the storm that is coming.

Oh, look at that, it seemed it’s my time to go." Before he could say anything she disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Adrian clenched his fists tightly but he had nobody to vent his anger on until another person appeared.

It was an old man with a short white beard wearing what appeared to be a butler’s attire.

The man appeared in front of Annie’s house and knocked on the door before Adrian could stop him.

Adrian jumped down and grabbed him from behind. He yanked the old man and threw him across the street.

By the time Annie’s father opened the door, the two of them were gone. He looked around and saw nobody then shrugged and went back inside.

The old butler dusted himself, he looked at Adrian calmly. " To think you would still be here, this makes things even easier then.

I suggest you cooperate and come with me to meet the young miss, that will save you a lot of pain."

Adrian grinned, " You sound very confident for an old man."

" Ho ho ho, it would be disgraceful for such an old man to fail to even bring back a little pup now wouldn’t it?"

Adrian took a fighting stance and his body transformed and he took his true werewolf form.

The reason he went all out immediately was because this old vampire was at level 4, a level 4 baron.

A difference of two levels was too much, even Adrian wasn’t sure he would be able to take him down.

If he is to win he would need to rely on the multitude of abilities he had because his physical strength alone will not be enough.

" Look where you are boy, are you certain this is where you want me to fight me?"

Adrian looked around and the old man was right. They were in an open street with no barriers set up.

If they fought here they would draw too much attention but that also made him smile.

" You’re right." He turned back to his human form but he maintained his second phase with long silver hair.

" This also means you can’t just attack me, so how about you leave." Then his face turned cold.

" Also, I suggest you and you masters leave her alone, she’s just a human who has nothing to do with this or our world."

" Ho ho ho, just a human you say. Do you think we are foolish boy? We all can see how much you care for her.

We’ve done out research, we know you two were quite a pair while you were human." Adrian paused.

" Don’t look so surprised, you weren’t exactly subtle in your actions, even a fool can track back your history."

Adrian nodded, " I see, I suppose I have been sloppy thus far, thank you for the lesson, I won’t make that mistake again."

" You don’t need to, once was enough and now, the one you love will die because of you."

Adrian didn’t respond to that, he waited for the vampire to attack but no attack came. The vampire turned around and walked off.

Then he stopped, " I suggest you spend as much time with her as you can, you don’t have long together."

Adrian looked at him coldy, " I really do not take kindly to being threatened." He felt his rage bubbling.

He found himself growling then he stopped himself. ’ Calm down Adrian, this is not the place nor the time.’

He took a deep breath and jumped back to Annie’s roof. He watched the old vampire leave and sighed.

’ This will be harder than I expected, next time, I’m afraid we’ll have to fight.’ he closed his eyes and sent a pack call to Suzie.

A week went by, during the past week vampires flooded the streets of Lagos and many people disappeared.

The church and the organisation had to get involved. From the little information Adrian gathered.

The organisation summoned three level 4 agents to take care of things in Lagos and keep the vampires in check.

This stabilized the situation and the vampires had to hold themselves back. The church also sent another high priest.

With two occult mages who can use spells equal to level 4 power, the vampires didn’t dare underestimate them.

Especially considering occult magic had many spells that can deal with immortal beings.

They were mostly sealing spells, there was even a legend of a wise king sealing away a genie.

Genies were one of the most powerful spirits, worshiped as dark gods with the power to turn desires into reality.

They were a race feared as much as fairies. With the situation stabilized and these forces keeping each other in check.

Adrian and the werewolves had a moment of respite. Annie’s life proceeded normally, her relationship with Cyril also progressed.

She was starting to open up to him more, one morning a week after everything, she went to buy coffee as usual before going to school.

She hated the coffee her mother made but she couldn’t tell her that. So every morning she would leave early to buy coffee in this cafe.

Just as she was leaving the cafe she brushed against a short man wearing a green suit and pointy shoes.

" Oh my god I’m so sorry." She apologised but when she turned around the man was gone.

’ Was I imagining things?’ she wondered with confusion.
