Chapter 143: Chapter 143: Dire Situation

Adrian took the blast head on but he was a bit far from the centre of the explosion so he didn’t take much damage.

The other werewolves were not so lucky and took significant damage. Had their fights with vampires not taken them further from the statue they would’ve died.

As soon as the explosion died down everything became clear. John and Suzie were relatively fine.

So was Sam and Melissa. The letter two were even further from the statue than he was.

Adrian looked around then paused, one of the werewolves laid there unmoving. His heart had stopped beating.

Adrian knew immediately that this guy was dead. The ground around him started shaking.

A faint and soft silver light surrounded his body like a halo. The ground below his feet cracked.

He raised his hand to the sky and the weapons hanging above like guillotines shone with faint silver light like his body.

" You will pay for that." His voice was but a whisper yet that whisper was heard by all those present.

His anger was not his alone, he could feel it through the pack. Even the four who were not here felt it.

The death of one of their own and their anger was felt by him as well. The weapons descended like rain.

The vampires didn’t have a chance to react, Adrian’s precision had grown to an absurd level.

None were able to dodge and those who managed to block them only lasted less than three exchanges before falling.

Vampire corpses littered the ground but he did not even pay them any attention. He walked towards the fallen werewolf.

Adrian felt a bit sad but not as much as he expected he would be upon the death of a member of his pack.

He knelt next to the man’s body and touched him. As soon as he did he received information.

" I see, sleep well in the moon’s embrace. Your fight is over, Fenrir" He whispered.

" Fenrir." The other werewolves chanted after him. Even Suki and the other three found themselves saying that.

From the information he received, this was the chant of goodbyes to allow a fallen werewolf to reach the embrace of the moon.

It wasn’t just a meaningless chant though, Adrian bit his finger and drew a circle on the man’s forehead using his blood.

He wished they would’ve had a proper ceremony but they had more pressing issues right now.

As soon as he drew the circle they chanted again. " Fenrir."

" Fenrir." The others followed. The circle lit up with blinding silver light like the moon itself.

A mark of a glowing moon appeared on the man’s forehead then his body broke down into light particles.

Silver light particles rose to the sky and headed for the moon. Adrian stood up and looked up.

He transformed into his full werewolf form, the other Gemma were already in theirs and they howled.

Every werewolf, whether they were Gemma or omega howled as one. Their howls pierced through the barrier of the church.

The people outside heard them and it drew their attentions. " Are there wolves there? Is that why it’s closed off?"

One reporter asked but nobody answered her. Then they say it, even the barriers couldn’t stop the rising wolf.

Particles of light flew up gently like silver fireflies. " That’s so pretty." A young girl commented while taking photos.

The director and the high priest looked at each other in confusion. They were also confused by this.

They were of mind that it was just one of Adrian’s abilities and left it at that. Adrian in the meanwhile turned towards the others.

Suzie was already directing the others into collecting the hearts of the vampires. Adrian clapped.

" We’ve already wasted too much time, the barrier is gone, there’s no limit to how strong out enemies can be now."

He looked at all of them, " We’ve lost one of our own tonight and we don’t even have the time to grieve.

I don’t want to lose anymore of you, you will go into hiding, the rings will help with that as long as you don’t draw attention.

I don’t know the limit, perhaps those much stronger might be able to sense you so stay hidden unless you have no choice."

They nodded, " Now go." They immediately spread out across the city but Suzie, Sam and John stayed.

" That includes you three." Suzie tried to argue but he raised his hand to stop her.

" Their attention will be drawn to me, unlike you the rings cannot hide my aura, I’m like a walking beacon.

However, I will have a higher chance of survival if I’m alone, I can always escape, you’ll just hold me back."

His words were harsh but they all understood. Suzie looked hurt the most, she bowed then turned around and left.

Adrian was left alone, the organisation agents and the priests came back. They saw him standing there alone surrounded by corpses and felt a wave of fear.

The high priest grabbed his rosary and was about to cast a spell when he stopped. He looked around and saw nothing but he didn’t act.

Adrian naturally saw his actions but he didn’t say anything. He took off leaving a bunch of confused people.

The director sighed, " Damn this will be a lot to take care of. Fortunately I won’t be the director anymore."

With the barrier gone, the vampires were bound to send stronger members of their race.

Stronger members of the agency would be needed as a result. The director would prefer if those agents were at least level 4.

Adrian went towards Annie’s house. When he got there he found her, Cyril and her entire family sound asleep.

Not by choice of course, agents were working overtime to fix her house and the street to exactly what it was before.

This opened Adrian’s eyes to the variety of abilities the Espara had. Before long, things were back to normal.

’ They act fast.’ he thought to himself while watching from the side. None of them saw him.

He told the four werewolves to leave, " I’ll take care of this myself from now on, you can go."

They didn’t argue and immediately left. He watched the agents erase Annie’s mind and didn’t interfere.

He laid on his back on the roof of her house and closed his eyes and waited. He expected them to come here, to come for her.

He also expected the protection of the fox tail to quickly fade without the barrier in place.
