The taxi driver couldn’t help but laugh, "Miss, if you want to go home, you need to tell me where your home is. When you just say ’home,’ how am I supposed to know where to take you?"

"Oh, sorry." Jane Sampson pat her head, fuming because of James Black, feeling her brain had been scrambled by anger. She quickly gave him the address and then urged the taxi to hurry once again.

"Alright, to home we go!" said the taxi driver, who also had a sense of humor. He loudly acknowledged her request and then started the car.

After the car drove past the crossroads, the driver glanced in the rearview mirror and asked Jane Sampson, "Miss, do you know the car behind us? You’ve been watching it the whole way, and it’s been following us all this time."

"Don’t know it! Don’t know it!" Jane Sampson waved her hands repeatedly in denial.

"Really? I thought maybe you lovers were having a spat," the driver chuckled heartily and then said, "Miss, you really look like that star, Jane Sampson, an actress with such a nice name. My beloved daughter really likes her."

"Is that so, Uncle? My friends say I look a lot like her too, but she doesn’t have skin as good as mine," Jane responded without even blinking an eye.

"You young people sure are fun," Uncle Driver laughed, amused by Jane’s response.

Jane Sampson gave a dry, obliging smile, feeling her heart tense up as she saw James Black’s car steadily following them.

Could this guy be planning to follow her to her home and then drag her back once she got there?

That would be downright brutal, right?

Jane Sampson said that the car behind them was not her lover, but the driver, seeing it had been following them for almost an hour and they were only a few minutes away from her destination, asked with concern, "Miss, I see that car has been following us for a while now. If you really don’t know them, do you want me to call the police? When we get to the entrance of your residential community, don’t get out of the taxi just yet, wait for the police to arrive, then you can get out."

Uncle Driver was genuinely considerate. Out of concern for the girl’s safety, he was even willing to forego his fare.

"No need, no need," Jane Sampson waved her hand hastily, "Actually, we do know each other."

"So, he’s your boyfriend, huh?" Uncle Driver said cheerfully, "If that’s your boyfriend, he’s a good man. A young couple having a little tiff, and he’s still so vigilant in getting you safely home. It shows he’s really caring and cherishes you."

Caring?

Cherishes?

He cared alright, probably planning to take her to his guard team, right?

Cherishes?

Indeed, extremely cherishing her.

But, it manifested itself in the bed. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Verbally.

About 15 minutes later, Jane Sampson got out of the car first, and James Black’s car pulled up beside her not even a full fifteen seconds later, stopping right next to her.

He rolled down the window and looked at Jane Sampson from inside the car.

"Not running anymore?" James Black asked in a dark tone.

"Isn’t this the finish line?" Jane Sampson replied sheepishly with a smile, then took a step back, "James Black, let’s be reasonable, tomorrow morning my flight is at seven forty, so I have to be at the airport around 6 o’clock at the latest. I need to get up over five, and that’s counting from home. Your guard team is even farther from the airport. If I start from there, I’d have to wake up at four, right?"

Seeing James Black raise his eyebrows, Jane continued, "I know you want me at the guard team, but it’s not urgent right now, is it? Once I finish the drama here, I’ve got two days off, right? Going there then wouldn’t be too late!"
