CEO's Reborn Wife - Chapter 445 - 453: Thrown Away
Upon hearing this, Director Wilson spat out a drink of water in disbelief, "Harry Humming! You can’t spare even a sweet potato, now you’re not even taking me, the director, into consideration?"
"Yes! Yes! Yes! I’m keeping the director close to my heart!" Harry Humming replied with a playful smile, then promptly led Jane Sampson and a few others away, knowing that Mandy Forest still had scenes to shoot. As they passed by Mandy Forest, Harry Humming only greeted her briefly before leaving.
The group failed to notice Mandy Forest’s hand, holding her mobile phone, trembled slightly before hastily putting it away.
That night, what was supposed to be a gathering for roasted sweet potatoes turned into a full-blown barbecue feast with the addition of Director Wilson.
The variety of food being grilled became richer.
They grilled sweet potatoes, corn, edamame, potatoes and even took it upon themselves to throw a watermelon into the fire to see what would happen.
By the time Jane Sampson headed home, it was very late. Remembering what James Black had mentioned about the fruits, she specifically looked for them upon entering, but, to her surprise, she did not find the fruits hanging on the door handle as James had described. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
With a heavy heart and flashlight in hand, Jane searched every corner of the courtyard but found nothing, prompting her to return to her room feeling downcast, wondering if perhaps Edward Stone had mistaken the room or placed it incorrectly.
Since it was very late and knowing James Black’s routine, she was certain he would be resting at this time, so Jane didn’t specifically call to ask him, and after taking a shower, she went straight to bed to rest.
Little did she know, someone in the guardian team’s dormitory stayed up until midnight, waiting for the call Jane promised to make after getting back to her room. When the time on his phone indicated it was two o’clock midnight, James Black finally concluded that Jane had bravely led him on a wild goose chase all night.
The next morning, Jane was awakened by a noise in the courtyard.
Due to the hot weather, and since the windows had anti-theft nets and the home stay was small with only the film crew as residents, Jane hadn’t closed the window before sleep, resulting in any slight noise from the courtyard waking her up.
"Who would do such a thing? To waste perfectly good fruits by throwing them into the ditch at the doorway! They could have given them to me. I’ve been in this village for a week and haven’t even seen a tomato, I’ve been wanting to eat fruits!" someone outside raised their voice.
It wasn’t so much a call meant for anyone in particular, simply an expression of astonishment towards the act of throwing away fruits.
"When I got back last night, I saw this bag hanging on the door of Jane Sampson’s house," someone muttered in a low voice, "It must have been Jane Sampson who didn’t want them and threw them into the ditch."
Hearing this, Jane immediately sprang up, threw on a coat over her pajamas, and headed outside without changing her clothes.
"The fruits ended up in the ditch?" Jane ran out to see, indeed, fruits in a red plastic bag in the ditch in front of the house, she was stunned, "I came back late last night and didn’t see the bag, so I looked around the courtyard for quite some time."
"Ah?" the person exclaimed in surprise, "Sister Jane, so you were looking for this bag of fruits with a flashlight late-night yesterday?"
Combining Jane’s account with the other person’s remark, everyone listening suddenly realized that the bag of fruits wasn’t discarded by Jane herself but rather was maliciously thrown away by someone else.
At that moment, everyone secretly speculated, living here together, all from the same drama crew, who would be so malicious as to give Jane, the third female role, such trouble?
