Chapter 1375: Chapter 1383: Damn Fate

Jane Sampson’s car had just arrived at the parking lot when she saw James Carter standing in the distance with a cane, waiting for her. She got out of the car and, in a good mood, hopped and skipped over to James, waving her hand, "Mr. Carter!"

"How come you dressed so lightly to come out? The weather has been a bit chilly these days." Seeing Jane’s face flushed from the cold, James Carter quickly took off the scarf around his neck. He instinctively wanted to wrap it around Jane, but he caught himself mid-gesture and instead handed it to her, saying, "Put this on."

Jane pretended not to notice the change in James’s gesture, and cheerfully accepted the scarf, "I’m in the car once I step out of the door, and indoors as soon as I leave the car. I don’t feel cold at all."

Although she wasn’t cold, Jane still accepted James Carter’s kindness. His small action warmed her heart.

It really felt like having an elder brother.

Seeing her, he hadn’t even had the chance to catch up with her, his first concern was to worry about her catching a cold.

Mr. Carter, still as warm as before.

"There’s some malfunction with the equipment in the recording room, so it’s under repair. Let’s go sit in the tea room for a while and have some tea," said James Carter, "Just in time, I’ll introduce you to my friend I mentioned, who happens to be in the studio today."

Jane nodded and hummed an affirmative, but it was only after entering the studio that she realized the studio’s design was quite stylish—an music studio designed to look like a Japanese tea pavilion.

If Jane hadn’t known she was here to practice singing with Mr. Carter, she might have thought she was there to meet someone for tea.

"My friend is a local from Capital Province. He established this studio after high school graduation. All things considered, it should be one of the older independent music studios in Capital Province. However, my friend took on a different career unrelated to music later. The studio was refurbished a few years ago, and later, the decorations were entirely redesigned by somebody else," James Carter explained.

James paused, then used a specific term, "He’s probably what others would call a hobbyist, just purely interested in it. But, coming over here only a few times a year, this studio is pretty much rented out to others all the time."

Hearing this modern term from James Carter’s mouth, Jane covered her mouth and chuckled to herself.

While they talked, they arrived at the destination. James pushed open the door to the tea room, "You go in first."

Jane smiled with arched brows and went in after taking off her shoes. Inside, there was a man leaning lazily on tatami mats wearing a gray turtleneck sweater, sipping tea.

Hearing the noise at the doorway, the man slowly turned his head to look towards the door.

Once she saw the man’s face clearly, Jane didn’t know how to express this damned twist of fate.

That man was none other than Kendal Smith, the Smith Family’s second son, with whom Jane had a brief encounter, and who she had just seen last night at the dinner table.

"Haha, what a coincidence." Kendal Smith nearly spat out his tea.

If he’d known beforehand that the good friend James Carter was picking up was going to be Jane Sampson, he would definitely have made a quick escape long ago.

"You know each other?" James Carter, sitting by the doorway putting on slippers, asked in surprise when he heard Kendal Smith and Jane greeting each other.

"Of course, Mr. Smith was almost my brother-in-law," Jane said with a grin like a little devil, "But didn’t I hear that Mr. Smith left Capital Province in the middle of the night?"

"Oh, there was an emergency in the studio, so I had to rush back early in the morning. Is there a problem?" Kendal Smith straightened his sitting position and adjusted the hem of his clothes.
