CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 1355 - 1363: Then Don’t Bring It
"She had no choice but to agree, right? If she didn’t agree, grandpa would have kicked her out of the house. Isn’t that host in jail now? The phone number of my brother-in-law, James Black, was given to that host by Julie Sampton," Bright Sampton said, "Grandpa found out about this, so he made her marry someone; she had no room to fight back."
"She gave it?" Jane Sampton sounded somewhat surprised upon hearing this but, after giving it some thought, not that surprised.
James Black’s phone number wasn’t something just anyone could get, and Julie didn’t have it either.
So, "Did Julie get James Black’s phone number from mom?"
"Yes," Bright Sampton nodded, "Because of this incident, grandpa gave mom a good scolding. After brother-in-law changed his phone number, no one in the Black Family knew it except for grandparents, you, and me—not even Julie or dad and mom."
"By the way, dad and mom want you to bring brother-in-law to the engagement banquet tomorrow night," said Bright Sampton.
"I won’t bring him," Jane Sampton refused without a second thought. "I know why dad and mom asked you to specifically tell me this, but I just don’t want Julie to have her way."
"Then don’t bring him. Just say brother-in-law is busy with his guard team and can’t spare the time. Tomorrow, come pick me up, and we’ll go have a meal with the other party together," Bright Sampton said without even trying to persuade her. If Jane said no, he was ready to agree with not bringing him.
Jane Sampton laughed when she heard this, "If dad and mom heard what you said, they’d surely lecture you."
"Would I be afraid of them lecturing me? Ever since I dropped out of school, they don’t even bother speaking to me now. Every time they open their mouths, they criticize me. Seeing that it’s ineffective, they don’t even bother giving me another glance," Bright Sampton sneered and laughed mockingly, "I’ve been away for so long, and they haven’t even cared how I’m doing. In their eyes, I’m not a son first, I’m an item."
Bright Sampton said, "If grandpa hadn’t intervened in Julie’s marriage affair, Julie would likely have been treated by dad as an item as well, assessed before being provided a husband’s family. Sister, sometimes, when I think about dad, I feel that he is really a bit frightening."
Julie’s engagement to the child of the Smith Family came about due to Old Sir Sampton’s intervention. In fact, Father Sampton was not pleased with this marriage because the Smith Family’s business had hardly any ties with the Sampton Family and could not provide much benefit. However, out of respect for his father, Old Sir Sampton, Father Sampton could not refuse.
Asking Jane Sampton to bring James Black to the engagement banquet was not only because Jane and James Black were husband and wife but also because of the enhanced status that the Black Family could bring to Julie Sampton.
So, after weighing the benefits, Father Sampton did, in fact, have affection for his daughter Julie. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Although the Smith Family couldn’t offer much use to the Sampton Family, their social status was much higher than that of the Samptons. If Julie married into the Smith Family with the backing of the Black Family, should any issues arise in the future, the Smith Family would not dare to mistreat Julie lightly.
Jane Sampton and Bright Sampton both clearly understood their parents’ arrangement yet, Jane did not wish to help Julie like this because, just a second ago, she found out that Julie Sampton had given James Black’s phone number to Charlotte Miller.
And Jane thought, Julie must have known Charlotte Miller’s intentions towards James Black.
But knowing Charlotte Miller’s interest in James Black and still giving out his mobile number—and even specifically asking for it from Mother Sampton—showed that Julie also harbored ill intentions, basically aiding and abetting the wrongdoing.
