Captured By The Cold Detective (BL) - Chapter 373: What A Rip-off!
"Mroow!!" Kitty let out a fierce growl with her upper body lowered vigilantly, her slit pupils zeroing on the man who had just hurt her new favorite human.
She had come back upon hearing her kittens’ cries, but who could have guessed that she would find a few intruders instead? Not liking the man, she pounced forward again and this time, left four deep gash on the back of his hand that immediately drew blood.
"Fucking evil creature!" Injured Man cursed under his breath as he struggled to kick the orange tabby cat running around his feet.
Instead of joy, all Mu Yuze felt was dread and terror so intense that it made his entire body tremble. What was Kitty doing?! Didn’t she have the slightest sense of self-preservation?! These men would not kill him because he was still useful to them, but they certainly did not have any qualms to get rid of a stray cat!
"Kitty...!" He rasped out in extreme fear. "Go! Go away from here!"
Kitty did not listen, of course. She was a rogue fighter that had grown up on the street, backing down from the enemies was not her style. Moreover, she only had two favorite humans and seeing one of them harmed, how could she stay still? Noticing how another man moved to grab Mu Yuze from the floor, she snarled and bit the man’s leg, earning him a startled shout.
"For fuck’s sake, get rid of this damn cat!"
The two men brandished their folded knives and tried to chase the cat away, but she was too agile for her own good, always slipping away from their reach at the last moment all the while leaving claw marks here and there.
Mu Yuze’s heart jumped to his throat when he saw the sharp blades so close to the cat. Fueled by fear, he propped his trembling body up from the floor and rushed to the cat.
Alas, he had not taken even two steps yet when he was picked up again by the man who had been holding him captive from the start. A deep bloody teeth mark could still be spotted on his arm, and his face was extremely dark as he seethed, "Let’s fucking get out of here first!"
Mu Yuze felt himself being lifted off the ground and this time, he yelled and kicked and struggled desperately, trying to escape from the man’s vice grip, "Kitty! Kitty!!" Amidst the strife, the man almost let him slip away and in a hurry to catch him again, he accidentally tore off the string of amulet hanging around the Mu Yuze’s neck, and it fell to the ground without anyone knowing.
"Goddamnit!" Gun Holder had had enough of this absurdity. He released the trigger, aimed it at the cat and—
An almost inaudible whistle rang out and Mu Yuze watched blankly as Kitty flew in an arc midair and rolled on the ground a few times, crimson blood spurting out of her body to wet her orange fur crimson.
His desperate struggle immediately ceased and the man took advantage of it to press a sweet-scented cloth to his mouth and nose. Almost in an instant, his head spun dizzily and a second before everything turned dark, he heard Gun Holder curse,
"Fuck, I wasted a bullet on a fucking cat! What a rip-off!"

When He Juan pulled off in front of his apartment, the sun was starting to set in the horizon. He slammed the car door closed behind him and strode into the building. The golden majestic glow fell on his hardened features, the chilly breeze picking up the scent of a furious Alpha.
A little more than five hours had already passed since the phone call.
Earlier, He Juan had hung up early in lieu of activating the trackers he had planted on Mu Yuze’s shoes and the seam of his trousers. Yet much to his dismay, Mu Yuze was not wearing shoes when he was taken away. As for the trousers, He Juan suspected that the mercenaries were carrying some kind of signal interference item with them, otherwise how was it possible for the tracker to malfunction at a time like this?!
With the trackers proven useless, He Juan had immediately floored the accelerator to the absolute maximum speed manageable with the slippery road. He was certain that the traffic police was furiously taking note of his car’s plate number right now. Yet the traffic police and the accumulated speeding tickets were the least of his worries at the moment.
The elevator door slid open on the sixth floor and his ears immediately picked up the faint cries of the kitten. He followed the source of the sound yet it was not the cat bed that his gaze landed on, but the traces of dried blood on the floor.
...Whose?
As soon as the question crossed his mind, the corner of his lips pulled back into a snarl, but he immediately schooled his features once he saw someone stepping out of the apartment.
"Boss, you are here!" Huang Zhiyan exclaimed as soon as he caught sight of him, and following behind him was a grim-faced Chen Youzhi.
He Juan found it very hard to suppress the irritation boiling in his blood right now. He could not even muster an appropriate smile for his men who were forced to work on their holiday. He walked forward without a word, and upon sensing the low pressure radiating off him, the two men stepped aside without a word, gulping. Their Boss was extremely angry right now and the less words they said, the better.
"Have you found where they took him?" He Juan asked with nary a fluctuation in his tone as he surveyed the mess inside the house. Blood... more blood. He should stop thinking about whose blood it belonged to or else he would really go crazy right now.
’Later,’ he told his wrathful Alpha. ’We will take our revenge later. Soon.’
The two men could not discern anything from his face, yet it was exactly for that reason that they became all the more apprehensive. He Juan was a warm and expressive man and the fact that he had become expressionless... it could only lead to one thing – bloodbath.
Perhaps they should be thankful for being a Beta, otherwise they would not be able to stand on their own feet right now from the intensity of pheromones oozing out of He Juan’s body.
Chen Youzhi dipped his head in apology, "We’re still searching," he said, which was equivalent to not finding anything at all. A hint of frustration appeared between his creased brows. "All the CCTVs have been tampered. They’re good at covering their tracks and the snow helped to erase—"
Loud and hasty footsteps resounded through the hallway and someone burst out of the emergency exit door the next moment, panting. "Boss, we found something! You... You should come and see this!"
"What is it that you have to get the Boss to see it personally?" Huang Zhiyan barked out. "Can’t you just report it yourself?!"
"Let’s go," He Juan moved his feet to follow the man, and the two subordinates could only trail behind him without a word.
He was led outside the apartment building toward the back, where the path wound up to small and complicated alleys. Around them were one or two story houses with tile roofs and brick walls, squeezing together without the slightest gap in between. As they strode across the narrow street, their shoes made crunching sounds from where they were stepping on snow, and white mist curled out of their mouth.
They made a few turns before the man halted on his tracks, "Here it is."
He stepped aside to make way for He Juan, and as soon as He Juan saw what the man was gesturing at, his expressionless mask abruptly cracked.
