"Win-win situation?" Liang Yuanjun echoed his words with knitted brows. "I am afraid I don’t understand, Mr. Xiu. You said you want to help me become the prime minister? What’s in it for you?"

"I need you to implement a new law," he said, causing her to freeze in surprise. "Make a new law to protect omegas in this country, Miss Liang. I’m sure no one knows more than you how terrible omegas are treated in our current society. Why do they need to be confined at home when they are supposed to be out there living their life and chasing their dream? Why do they have to be condemned for their natural physique? Why can’t they be treated the same as Alphas or Betas? Empowering omega’s standing in society... it is the main vision of your campaign, and it is also my goal." A touch of sorrow surfaced in his eyes. "I long to see it, Miss Liang. To see a world where everyone can live in peace and harmony, where people will treat omegas not only as a wallflower or a birthing machine, but a human who has their own will and ambitions too."

Liang Yuanjun nodded, still quite unable to recover from the shock after listening to He Juan’s passionate speech. "I am aware of it, but... I am ashamed to say that there’s very little I can do to stop it." She lowered her eyes in remorse.

"I understand." Of course he did. If only the government could do their job properly, was there any need for him to take matters into his own hands? "You are restrained by law. Her pupils dilated in excitement as if every cell in her body thrum and sang in response to what the man had just said. How could she not be, when the proposal He Juan lay out was practically what she needed the most? It was like being offered a pillow just when she was getting sleepy!

All this while, she had been feeling extremely helpless. She had seen how other candidates roped in supporters with the promise of status and riches, and that’s how corruption started to spread like an unstoppable plague, like an unbreakable chain that tied those people together. Even the people who used to stand by her side were not spared from it.

Actually, Liang Yuanjun could also use the same method, but she told herself that she could not end up like them. She refused to! Corruption was but a poisonous swamp; once you stepped into it, you would be marked with its stain and be doomed for life. Now that Liang Yuanjun was meeting him face-to-face, she could see that what those people said about him was surprisingly accurate.

"I assure you, you will be thankful for the decision you make today, Miss Liang. For starters..." he tapped his smiling lips. "Please provide me with the list of people who were involved in your mishap a few weeks ago."
