Mu Yuze saved Jia Molei’s house address to his notes and resolved to pay the man a visit once he got off work.

As minutes ticked by, he tried to give Jia Molei a few more calls only to end up in the voicemail every single time. Even the messages were akin to small peebles sinking into the sea, unheard and unnoticed. Unease gradually gripped Mu Yuze’s heart like coiling vines and he became unable to concentrate on his work.

It couldn’t be... right? Has something really happened to the crimson-haired doctor?

Because of his fierce exterior and explosive temper, Mu Yuze had subconsciously thought that no real harm would come to him. But he had forgotten the fact that the one who had gotten into an accident was not only He Juan, but Jia Molei as well. It meant... the man was not completely safe from the enemies’ threat either!

There were still half an hour until he could get off work, but Mu Yuze could not sit still anymore. He quickly finished his daily report, submitted it to Captain Li and asked whether he could leave sooner. In concern of the bandages around his neck, Li Zhi had initially wanted to give him a few days off only to be rejected by the omega. Now that Mu Yuze had personally come to him, he waved his hand and signed the man’s leave of absence note in a flourish, then let him go under the curious and intrigued look of other officers.

"What do you think happened to Mu Yuze recently?"

"I know right... We have been working together for years, but I have never seen him take any days off. Now he suddenly becomes so busy with personal matters and also... his neck..."

"Oh, oh!" As long as it would not cause any potential office war, Kang Guanyu did not have any qualms in sharing interesting gossip with his colleagues. He started to recount what he had observed so far, "Very gentle, kind, thoughtful, handsome, tall..." he scrutinized Tak Jung-Hwa and nodded. "En, just as tall as you, Hyung. The more Kang Guanyu said, the more excited he was. Until the end, he blurted out, "All in all, he’s just like the protagonist in shounen manga. You know... with all of his appearance, personality, capability and mysterious past in one whole package!"

Tak Jung-Hwa sharply caught the crux of the sentence. "Oh, mysterious past?" he asked, eyes glittering in curiosity. "Like what?"
