Chapter 95: Matter of the Worse

This was more shocking than ever to everyone, even George.

"That is definitely true!" Charlotte uttered, "When the abyss first opened a whole lot of monsters came rushing out. Everyone of them of different ranks and the top most rank the Grand monster, those were the one who gave the orders to massacre humans and also the order to retreat after they saw we were pushing back."

"That was there years ago and knowing the time difference between us and inside the abyss, it would be more than three years passed there. Perhaps five? Ten? Who knows? Time isn’t always stable there."

"Regardless, this would mean they had a lot of time to rethink and strategies on how they are to attack again. No one knows what their motive was from the beginning, only to kill."

"If we didn’t have talents to fight back, I will say humanity would already have been extinct by now. But thank the lady, we did obtain talents, abilities and fought back."

This meeting was a very important meeting. Although it is taking more time than necessary, it is important that the guild masters, those in the top, and those associated with the top know about these things.

If it was skipped and not discussed, the association wouldn’t go anywhere.

If one person has very solid information and holds it to themselves then, it wouldn’t be profitable to any even to those who hold it.

It is only when information is shared and minds come together, that’s when humanity would be able to move forward.

"Ture, very true!" George uttered, "If we are not ready for what is to come then we would have ourselves to blame for it."

George turned his head, looking at Charlotte and her, at him. Then he winked at her. Feeling this, Charlotte’s face became flustered, her cheeks turning red making her take her face away from him.

Even with this red face, she still kept a serious expression, composing herself and trying not to lose control.

Charlotte placed her hand on her chest again, caressing her heart to calm down. At this point, her heart was already threatening to jump out. ’Does he also...’

George only did this as an act of supporting her claim. There was no other reason attached to it, at least not the one that was swirling inside Charlotte’s head.

This was just a normal attitude of him not a sign of displaying any affection whatsoever.

George removed his gaze from Charlotte and landed it at Raymond, saying, "I hear you buddy. But there’s nothing you should worry about. The monster can’t come out and even if they did, we are already stronger than we were last time. We would fight and push them back. Kill as much as possible to reduce their numbers. So that’s a story that should only be waited for but not to be seen as a threat."

These words of his, made Raymond a little uneasy, ’I know he’s confident in his strength but that doesn’t make it alright. There are civilians, people that were not awakened that would be in more danger. They are the ones that worry me the most. And not us."

If a person saw Raymond outside with his ninja style dress, they would probably classify him as a cold blooded killer even if he is just a mage.

His appearance would make people think he cares nothing for this world then for it to burn to the ground, yet that is the opposite of who he actually is.

The words of George seem to make peace in their room even though Raymond disagreed but couldn’t push it any further.

There was a calm feeling in the air as if everything was going to be fine. That’s all that was said in this meeting was nothing special about, until one question was asked.

Julius asked, "If the administrator died and your people were able to actually escape, that leaves the question. Who killed him? Was it your people?"

The words flowed in the air and entered the ears of everyone in the room, even the chairman’s assistant made a reaction, focusing her gaze on George.

’Damn bastard!’ George cursed in his heart, looking at Julius. ’I actually wanted to leave this part out. Answering him would also lead to me exposing the existence of ’that’ awakener. But nevertheless if there was no way I wouldn’t reveal him if I don’t tell them about the awakener from the characteristics guild.’

"So? We are waiting?!" Julius uttered, already out of patience.

At this moment, George was staring at him with a stern expression and somehow Julius felt he had pissed George off, so he decided to add more spice.

However, even as George was vexed he didn’t take it to heart. He removed his gaze from Julius, released his crossed legs which already had muscle pull, then sat upright.

"You really want to know the truth?" He asked, looking back at Julius, and Julius nodded his head furiously. "Alright, here is the truth...."

Looking straight into Julius’ eyes, George spat everything out. "The person who killed him was an awakener from the characteristics guild, known as Reynold of Whispers!"

Upon hearing this name, everyone jolted from their seats, their gaze all directed to Julius, looking straight at him unblinking.

The ones who had jolted were Quincy, Raymond, Charlotte and the vice chairman.

While Julius and the Chairman were sitting now unmoved. George was also sitting down since he was the one that announced it, so there was no reaction.

At this moment, Julius was quiet, no words were uttered from his mouth. His eyes were locked straight with George’s eyes thinking of what was actually said. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

The furious expression on his face has changed to something else. Someone that, while looking at George said something about his intentions was aligned.

"You don’t seem surprised? Is this true?" the chairman asked, looking strongly at Julius, "Don’t you have anything to say for yourself and your guild?"

Julius was still locked eyes with George but all of a sudden he started feeling an overwhelming presence increasing beside him, and he knew it was from the chairman.

This feeling brought him out of the staring competition he and George were having. He knew if didn’t give a valid response, he would have to deal with the overwhelming presence beside him.

Knowing this, he turned his head, facing the chairman, his expression looking sincere, an expression out of his normal cold expression.

He knew he had to say something. Something believable. So the only thing that came to his mind, he let it out.

"Of course not. That’s impossible. There is no one from my guild who would be involved in such an action."

He straight up denied it.
