Chapter 93: Guild Masters Meeting [5]

"Dwarf? Seriously, is that the best you can come up with?" Julius uttered, looking absolutely confused and raged.

At this point, he wasn’t looking for an explanation anymore but a way in which he could piss off George.

However, that didn’t work. George looked at him, unfazed, saying, "Well if you have a name for a small creature with pointy ears like an elf, then be my guest to call them whatever you want."

"Tch." Julius felt disturbed by this. He hated that it was George who was giving the report, knowing full well that he was the only person he couldn’t intimidate out of the five guild masters.

Of course, he couldn’t give a name for a creature as described by George, so he felt frustrated.

The chairman was looking at George with a curious expression, "You are sure it was what your pupil said to you? A dwarf?"

"Yup!" George responded, crossing his hands while looking unbothered by the words he had just spoken.

Getting his confirmation, the Chairman looked at the vice chairman, saying, "Have we ever heard of a case where they are intelligent monsters except Grand monsters?"

The vice chairman answered, "No sir. The last report of a sighting of a Grand monster was a year ago. The person was able to flee on sight after a couple of their comrades got killed on the spot. Since then, there haven’t been any reports of Grand monsters."

The chairman heard this, brought his head down, and felt that something wasn’t right, "If that’s the case does that mean, they are now active again?" He uttered, probably supposed to be speaking in his heart but said it outwards.

He raised his head and looked back at the vice chairman, then to his assistant, "Dig up the records of the last sighting of a Grand monster, I want the exact date and area of the abyss that it was sighted."

"Yes Sir!" The assistant stepped forward and responded, then stepped backwards to her original position.

Here, she opened another page of the clipboard and wrote down what the chairman had instructed, with a pen.

On a normal day, she would have immediately gone to execute the job without delay.

However, because the meeting was going to take a whole lot of time, and she didn’t know how much time searching for the record would take, she decided to hold on.

As long as the meeting was ongoing, she was still going to be needed and leaving now wouldn’t just be right.

The Chairman removed his gaze from her and back at George., "This... dwarf, does it have a name?"

It was a strange question. Why would he want to know its name? Yet, he asked anyway and everyone was curious.

George replied, "From what I was told, he was some kind of a caretaker? The person that took care of the matters in their entire castle. He was a scientist, a sorcerer, a battle commander, and many others. I don’t know the name for it but..."

George was looking stressed just trying to get a single name that would fit the entire person the administrator was, but just then, the chairman uttered. "An Administrator?"

SNAP!

George snapped his fingers, "That’s right! That’s the exact word I was looking for!"

At this moment, even as everyone’s attention was focused solely on him there was one person that had their attention more focused.

It was Quincy. He was directly next for George and could literally feel the energy coming off him.

Quincy was more of a sleeper. He spent his free time sleeping, and most times when there was a meeting which was always boring, he would sleep.

However, this was the only time he didn’t fall asleep. He couldn’t even do it if he tried, because of how interesting George’s report was.

Quincy is only a child as far as the others are concerned. He barely even entered the abyss for so long before he became a guild master.

So, the words that came out of George’s lips were fascinating to him.

The Chairman was looking at George while he said, "If that person is called an administrator, that would mean they are broad in a large area of topics of the known world. It is a surprise to hear that there are monsters living a common life inside the abyss that wasn’t that of a mindless creature."

The chairman thought within his heart, ’These monsters are evolving faster than I expected, it would seem there are other more intelligent creatures inside there, and they might not even be grand monsters in rank. Is this an effect of the second layer!’

George was looking at the chairman while he was thinking in his thoughts. He had never seen the chairman think like this before, which speculated that the chairman might know something that hadn’t yet been told out.

He knew the chairman from way back and had never seen him this disturb, yet he didn’t say anything and let it move at the usual pace.

"I will continue," George uttered, and the Chairman looking at him gave him a go ahead.

"This administrator of a person, was said to have captured a lot of awakeners, since we know how much went missing we can assume that this was his doing."

"However, he didn’t capture them himself, but rather used mindless monsters to do his bidding. After they were captured, they were stripped off their clothes and given prison-like clothes to wear, keeping them in cages."

"I know what you are thinking, they should have fought back and escaped right? Well it wasn’t that easy,’

The guild masters felt uneasy about this statement. What could happen making it not easy to fight back?

Awakeners are known for fighting as their second nature, if they don’t do it when they encounter monsters, they would surely be dead, yet these people weren’t able to?

"I understand what you are thinking but it isn’t their fault, there was something that was blocking them from using their talent. Like a draining system that drained their mana all the while they were there, making them so weak and incapable of fighting."

The guild masters and the vice chairman were very shocked at hearing this. Even the assistant who was standing at the door made a slight movement in reaction.

"A mana draining system capable of weakening an awakener? That’s... that’s a whole lot of mind blowing ability to acquire." Charlotte spoke out, everyone’s attention shifting towards her.

"If that’s the case, then they would be able to stop a whole army of awakeners from using their talents, making them inactive even if they can fight physically."

"What is to say that the awakener can still fight with brute strength but no mana, and the monster they were to fight was harnessing a whole lot of mana, then what?"

Everyone was silent thinking of what she said. Charlotte had made a valid point, and in their minds they thought of where they stand in the actual ranking of mana perceivers in both worlds.

"I’ve gotta say, they are surely more creatures inside the abyss than mere monsters," Quincy said, now everyone’s attention shifting to him. "A mean look at it this way, there are monsters and there are also other beings that could live there, it’s possible, not as if we have explored the entire abyss that place is huge. Maybe there’s even other worlds connected to it."

The vice chairman, hearing this, shifted his gaze to the chairman and they both understood each other, knowing fully well that he was absolutely right.
