World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 55: Movement Plans
Lauren led Leon and the others to an empty house that was still in good condition, then politely left the group.
Reymond pushed the door open and checked if there was nothing dangerous before they all entered.
Unlike what they expected, the house was still furnished and there was nothing broken in it.
"Looks like the owners of this house traveled before it all started." Gwen said as she observed the living room.
Selene shrugged, then sank into one of the couches in the room. The others also did the same, making themselves comfortable.
Only Leon stood by the window, looking outside with a lost expression.
"Hey, Leon?" Reymond called out softly, catching his attention.
"Hm?" He turned back, raising an eyebrow at him.
Seeing that he looked fine, Reymond smiled. "I thought something was weighing on your mind."
Leon sighed, then shook his head. "It’s nothing."
Turning, he shifted his gaze to the young boy and his sister.
"Marie, take them to a room and come back. We have something to discuss."
The young lady nodded and ushered the siblings upstairs. After a minute and a half, she returned to the living room alone.
Leon didn’t talk first, he looked at the ice-cold beauty, and asked. "You have something to say?"
Without looking at him, she kept her gaze on the table and said. "I despise this place. If the police cannot control gang members like this, then there is no point in them being the police."
Opposite her, Reymond reluctantly agreed. "You’re kind of right. Those guys are supposed to restrain these evildoers, but I guess they can’t."
Selene’s brows locked. "Why?"
"Why? Do you think a police rat can control a thieving cat?" Leon countered with a question, causing her to fall silent.
It was indeed true. Judging from the way Captain Jester acted around Felix, they were equals of some sort. And if he was the only one who could confront him, then the highest he could do was only to warn him.
An attempt at total control would definitely lead to a battle with an unknown outcome. After all, Felix’s full forces had yet to be seen.
"Well, I guess no one really likes this place. So we’re not staying for long." Gwen said with a weak smile.
As someone who originated from a military background and had strong governmental mentality, she was also disappointed in the police, but she understood their difficulty, so she couldn’t complain.
"Tomorrow, we help them with clearing the mutated cats at their warehouse, and the next day, we’re leaving."
Selene said as she raised her head. She would have delayed a little longer, but she felt that the longer they stayed in the camp, the higher the chances of another conflict rising.
"I agree. However, before we depart, we would be taking a portion of their ammunition with us. I’m sure Captain Jester wouldn’t refuse."
Leon spoke calmly, adding another idea that they hadn’t considered.
"Wait, that’s true. We could always use guns to kill the zombies that are still weaker. Although we don’t particularly need them ourselves, the powerless students among us can definitely use them." Reymond clapped his hands as if a light bulb had suddenly sparked in his head.
Leon nodded, then rolled his shoulders. "In that case, we’ll discuss it with that man before leaving tomorrow. I’ll go inform Lauren about our decision to go there tomorrow."
Gwen frowned, confused. "Why not tell him about our condition now?"
Leon shook his head and answered. "That would give him the opportunity to bargain. And we aren’t accepting that."
"Ohh..."
Seeing her expression brighten with understanding, he nodded, then turned around and walked out of the room.
He went to the police station building and informed Lauren that the warehouse raid would be tomorrow, then went around to find Miguel and Richard who were still moving around, scouting.
The three of them went back to their bus outside to get some food, then returned to the empty house.
Marie and Gwen were in charge of cooking. Although it was quite strange for the large group of youngsters that had gotten used to the field house, this house was definitely better.
After having their meal, everyone departed to their separate rooms, though Leon was the only one who had a room to himself.
Selene and Gwen stayed together in a single room, as they had been friends since childhood. Reymond decided to stay with Richard and Miguel in an attempt to get closer with the two guys. They had quite a few things in common, so they chatted for a while.
Usually, this wouldn’t have happened if the world was still normal. After all, Reymond was a high-class citizen and was always surrounded by rich people. Now however, he found out that mixing with average-class people was actually more relaxing than relating with those who were like him. There was no need for pretense, and there was no stupid need for maintaining a particular image before everyone. Here, he could be completely true to himself.
As for Cassie, Marie, and Fel, the three young ladies stayed in the same room with the reason being that they were all women and they were familiar with each other.
Leon was the only one staying alone in a room on the ground floor. After locking the door, he could finally pay attention to the charming demon he had been ignoring for hours.
"Haaa..."
As he plopped on the bed, a groan of comfort escaped his lips. "I didn’t think a day would be this tiring."
Thyra elegantly sat on the small cushion in the room, staring at him with an amused gaze.
Her lips curved into a beautiful smile, and she said, "You haven’t experienced the comfort of a bed for a while, right? Should I sing you a lullaby so you can sleep even more comfortably?"
Leon’s eyes narrowed at the offer. It was a tempting one, but he had to reject it for now.
"I’ll save it for later. Instead, I have some questions I want to ask you."
Folding her arms beneath her bosom, Thyra blinked.
"Ask away, Little Leon."
