Urban Super Soldier King
Chapter 2003 - 2104: Retreat to the Last Stronghold
Under the fierce attack from COM, Xiang Yu’s team quickly collapsed. They were on the verge of defeat when news came from the rear that Xiang Yu had returned.
Hearing their leader has returned, everyone was invigorated. In their eyes, Xiang Yu is like a deity, capable of achieving anything.
"For the leader, we must hold on." Everyone shouted in unison.
The COM people initially thought that this wave would take down the opposition, but the intense sound of guns and cannons ahead made them question whether reinforcements had arrived.
"What’s going on?" Darzi stood up in the rear in confusion.
"News from the front says the opposition has intensified their firepower, but we don’t know why."
"Could it be that reinforcements have arrived for them?"
"No, but we received intel that their commander seems to have returned."
Darzi sneered coldly, his eyes turning icy. "Send the third squad up too; we must take them down in the next wave of attacks."
"But, Commander, if the third squad goes up, who will protect our rear?"
"Xiang Yu’s team is about to collapse, do you think they still have the chance to attack our rear? Just follow my orders." Darzi said confidently.
Upon hearing that even the third squad was deployed, COM’s frontline accelerated their attack pace, aggressively charging forward.
Meanwhile, Xi’er was pacing anxiously in the underground base. Xiang Yu had taken too great a blow and sat silently beside Long Wu’s bed.
The sound of guns and cannons outside was closing in, and given the disparity with the opposition, it was only a matter of time before they broke in if measures weren’t taken.
Unable to contain herself, Xi’er approached Xiang Yu and said, "Commander, they’re about to break in. We must think of something quickly, or our brothers will be done for."
Xiang Yu’s eyes were bloodshot as he silently watched Long Wu, showing no sign of movement.
Xi’er stood there for quite a while, and seeing that Xiang Yu had no intention to speak, she turned to leave.
With survival on the line, and her brother on the front line, rather than waiting here, she might as well charge forward and fight.
"Stop!"
Just as Xi’er was about to step out, Xiang Yu suddenly spoke.
"Get Jackson over here; I need to ask him something." Xiang Yu said coldly.
Xi’er quickly nodded and ran out to find Jackson, dragging him along.
Jackson, wearing glasses, looked puzzled and asked, "What do you want? I’m tackling a tough problem."
"The commander wants to see you; hurry up and come with me." Xi’er led Jackson to Xiang Yu.
Jackson wasn’t a fool. Upon seeing Long Wu lying on the hospital bed, he worriedly stepped forward, asking, "What’s the matter with her?"
Xiang Yu stood up to face Jackson. "Our base is under attack and can’t hold much longer. Do you have any good ideas?"
Jackson then had an epiphany and said, "I wondered why there was all that rumbling outside; turns out we’re being attacked."
Xi’er felt helpless and urged, "The situation is dire. Can our base withstand their attack?"
"Tch." Jackson responded disdainfully, then looked at Xiang Yu, saying, "Don’t worry, I built the base. They absolutely can’t get in, and following Long Wu’s requirements, I’ve set up many mechanisms inside to monitor surface activities at any time."
After thinking, Jackson added, "Of course, I mean the underground base; I haven’t altered the surface base much."
Xi’er was a bit frustrated and said, "You should have said so sooner; I thought the surface base was secure."
"Xi’er, bring Tie Zhuzi here." Xiang Yu said coolly.
Xi’er hesitated for a moment, intending to speak, but ultimately walked outside to find Tie Zhuzi, saying, "The commander wants you."
Tie Zhuzi walked in, his eyes red, clearly having cried. Upon seeing Xiang Yu, tears welled up in his eyes but didn’t fall.
"Tie Zhuzi, you and Xi’er stay here to take good care of Long Wu; don’t go anywhere." Xiang Yu ordered.
Tie Zhuzi anxiously responded, "Brother Yu, I can fight. Though I’ve lost my left arm, I can still carry a gun."
Xiang Yu patted his shoulder and said, "With your shooting skills, you’ll only cause trouble; follow orders."
After speaking, Xiang Yu looked at Long Wu, saying, "Rest well here; after I avenge you, I’ll find Yuhang to treat you."
With that, Xiang Yu turned and walked briskly outside. Just then, Tie Zhuzi’s phone rang—it was Xiaoxuan calling.
"Brother Yu, a call." Tie Zhuzi handed the phone to Xiang Yu.
"Xiaoxuan." Xiang Yu addressed directly.
"Bro..."
Xiaoxuan already knew everything, and upon saying the word, was already choking up.
"It’s okay; Long Wu’s life isn’t in danger, I will find someone to heal him." Xiang Yu asserted.
"Bro, my brothers and I have returned, and we’re now east of Sun City, behind them, awaiting your orders." Xiaoxuan said.
"Now I give you a mission: find their commander and chop off his head for me." Xiang Yu said calmly.
"Bro, rest assured, the mission will be completed." Xiaoxuan resolutely responded.
Xiang Yu hung up the phone, handed it back to Tie Zhuzi, and said, "Call Liu Yuhang and tell him about Long Wu’s situation; have him prepare everything."
Tie Zhuzi quickly took the phone and nodded, but before he could remind Xiang Yu to be careful, Xiang Yu had already left.
Accompanied by the guard team, Xiang Yu arrived on the battlefield. All around were ruins; the outside base was bombed beyond recognition, but the City Guard Army and other troops were fiercely holding on.
Upon seeing Xiang Yu arrive on the battlefield, everyone’s shouts shook the heavens.
Looking at the bodies littering the battlefield, Xiang Yu’s heart ached.
"Brothers, you’ve suffered," Xiang Yu said sincerely.
Though his voice was low, it warmed everyone’s hearts.
Across, the COM troops were visibly close to charging in. All the City Guard Army stared at Xiang Yu with hope, knowing he would have a plan.
"Everyone listen up, retreat to the underground base," Xiang Yu shouted.
At that moment, someone came to Xiang Yu, crying, and said, "Commander, we can’t retreat. If we retreat underground, we’ll really have no chance."
The others shared this viewpoint, believing that retreating underground would amount to offering themselves up as sitting ducks.
"Follow orders," Xiang Yu commanded firmly.
The others naturally didn’t know the underground base was meticulously designed by Jackson precisely for such situations as today.
The troops, unwilling though they were, began withdrawing in batches to the underground base as ordered by Xiang Yu.
Xiang Yu, under the units’ cover, also entered the command room of the base where Jackson had laid out a detailed map of the underground base...
