Chapter 273: Be my sixth husband

Louisa followed the manager and two staff members toward the waiting room, and as soon as her gaze fell on Kyle’s figure, she froze in surprise, then her eyes lit up with desire.

“Madam, please wait in the other room." The manager gestured toward the room across from the one Mira and Kyle were in.

His words snapped Louisa out of her thoughts, and she composed herself before calmly going to the other room.

She thought inwardly, ’He really pales in comparison to this man,’ and her interest in the manager faded.

Her mind was filled with Kyle’s mesmerizing beauty. The wisps of his blue hair fell against his chin, and his figure looked thin, but his broad shoulders suggested otherwise.

She had always been interested in a more feminine man, but when she saw Kyle, she felt a strong urge to claim him as her own.

I need to take things slow. The man she’s interested in can’t slip away from her grasp." Louisa sat on the couch, her mind focused on Kyle’s figure as she gazed at the room across from hers.

Inside, Mira straightened up as soon as the manager entered with two women in tow.

"Good afternoon, ma’am and sir. I’m the manager. I was told you want to make an exchange," the man introduced himself with a polite smile.

"Yes. I’m here to make an exchange." Mira went straight to the point and placed the suitcase on the table.

The man’s gaze fixed on the suitcase, and his expression grew serious, but when Mira opened it, he nearly lost his composure.

"Please follow me to the office." His attitude became more respectful as he invited them to his office.

The secretary’s gaze blazed with greed, causing her to forget the small bribe she hoped to get from Louisa.

Kyle briefly glanced at her, then looked away and yawned into his hands before standing up to follow them.

The secretary lagged behind, quickly typing a message and sending it to an unknown number on her hologram screen as she saw that the other party had agreed to the job. She turned off her screen, and her steps quickened.

"Madam, how would you like it exchanged? In gold coins, mana stones, crystal, or a mix?" the manager asked, and the counter lady rushed to get the scale, then called the transaction specialist (TS), while the secretary began emptying the gold bars onto the table.

Feeling the coolness and weight on her fingers, she nearly lost her composure—her expression stayed neutral, though her gaze was filled with greed.

She subtly observed Mira and Kyle from the corner of her eye, perceiving them as both defenseless and naive wealthy individuals with too much money and no protection.

She didn’t pause to consider what gave them the confidence to strut around with so much gold in their hands.

Kyle stayed quiet, blending into his surroundings; without his striking face, he would have been overlooked.

Mira looked to Kyle for an answer.

“What do you think?” Kyle replied with a question instead.

Mira thought for a moment before turning to the manager. “All in gold coins, what’s the exchange rate for the three?” Mira asked.

“Madam, we need to wait for the TS to test the gold before we can give you an answer.” Just as the manager responded, a knock sounded on the door.

"Enter," he called out, as the counter lady and another woman holding an instrument walked in.

The woman’s eyes landed on the pile of gold bricks on the table, and she almost lost her footing in shock.

“Come, test and measure this.” The manager’s words snapped her out of her daze, and she respectfully greeted Mira and Kyle before walking away.

The room fell into silence, except for the faint hum of the instrument and the tap of gold being dropped after inspection.

Three hours passed, and they finally finished the test and were counting.

“It’s 500,000 gold bricks. They are highly purified gold at 99.5%, each weighing five grams, and the exchange rate for them is 900 million coins, 600 mana stones, and 12 glass crystals per brick.” The TS reported as she straightened up. Her fingers were numb from counting.

Mira’s heart trembled when she heard the exchange rate. The huge amount of money deeply unsettled her.

The secretary’s eyes almost burned with uncontrollable greed, and she wished she could rob them that very instant.

She already imagined what she would do with this money and felt it could feed her entire generation, with some change left over.

‘Don’t rush things, calm down. Once they leave the bank, then I’ll strike,’ the secretary warned herself, barely containing her turbulent emotions.

“Madam, since you want it in gold coins, it would be 450 trillion gold coins. We would need to upgrade your account to send such an amount.” The manager spoke in a tone that shook slightly.

He needed to make some calls and get access to the headquarters to transfer that amount into their account.

“Please, I need your account details, and it might take a while. Can you please wait in the waiting room while I prepare the money?” the manager explained in a respectful tone.

“Alright. But it isn’t in my account, but his," Mira told them, and all eyes turned to Kyle, who propped his chin with his hand, sporting a drowsy expression.

Kyle yawned and straightened up. He tapped his bracelet, and his hologram screen lit up.

“Here are my bank details.” He was about to show the manager when he noticed the secretary’s eyes boring into his screen. Others looked away to give him privacy, as it was a sensitive matter.

The manager followed his line of sight and noticed the secretary’s blatant stare, then cleared his throat to get her attention.

“Ahem. Pour me a glass of water, and don’t come back until I call for you,” the manager ordered, his tone stern and his cold gaze fixed on the woman.

He watched her leave the room in slow steps, clearly reluctant to go.

He wondered what this foolish woman was up to; if she weren’t related to one of the bank shareholders, he would have fired her immediately when she started tampering with his schedules.

He hoped her actions wouldn’t upset such important clients.

He quickly pulled out a cube, turned it on a large hologram screen, and a keyboard appeared on the desk.

He tapped the scan fountain, scanned Kyle’s bank details and a picture, and other detailed information appeared on the screen.

“I’m done. Please wait in the waiting room. Order any refreshments you want, and they will be served.” He led them out of his office and told the counter lady to take good care of them.

As they left the office, they encountered the impatient Louisa, who was leaning against the wall beside their waiting room.

Kyle tried to brush past her and enter the room when the woman suddenly blocked his way.

"Hello. What’s your name, handsome?" she asked in what she thought was a smooth tone, but to Kyle it sounded greasy instead.

“Move out of the way,” Kyle muttered flatly, too impatient to tolerate any stranger at the moment.

Louisa pretended not to notice the displeasure on his face and moved closer, her hand reaching toward his chin.

But before her finger could touch him, he swatted her hand away.

“Beauty, don’t be so quick to reject me. I’m the sister of the city lord. I can change your status and life with a flick of my fingers or a word. Be my sixth husband, hmm?” Louisa drawled, not annoyed by his rude action; instead, her interest was piqued, and she wanted to quickly make him hers.
