The Kingmaker System
Chapter 673 - 672. No Goodbyes (2)
Ocean couldn’t visit Eldarf the day the two Dragons appeared but he had made a mental note on visiting the kids to reassure them that everything was fine. They must have been spooked by the hostile presence of the two Dragons, moreover, he needed to talk to Sol.
Considering these two were the Supreme Dragons, they might recognize him from the time of the war.
Currently, Ocean sat in his office with the communication brooch in his hands and a scowl over his face.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes, Master. H-His eyes were completely black and he murdered both Earl Kirkland and the young master of Valmest." The guard that was stationed for Carlos’s safety and surveillance, reported.
Roan who heard this frowned deeply and looked at Ocean who looked ready to impale an army.
"Did you see a blue pendant on him?" Ocean asked.
"...No, Master."
The suffocating Dragon’s Presence made the air so thick that Roan felt he might just cut it with the nip of his pen.
"Is that so?" Ocean spoke and Roan shuddered.
"For now, clean up the bodies and keep an eye on him. Since he has seen you, make sure to maintain your distance. No one of the guards should approach him at any cost and if anything else happens report to me immediately." Ocean instructed.
"Yes, Master."
The glow of the communication brooch faded and Ocean placed it down, his eyes gleaming dangerously as he steepled his fingers before his lips.
"Hey... Master... Your face looks really scary." Roan spoke but Ocean didn’t seem like he was listening.
"He killed two people already." Ocean spoke, "and moreover, he wasn’t even wearing my given pendant."
Roan could see the blue scales starting to form over Ocean’s cheek.
"He dared to disobey me."
Roan opened his mouth to tell him to calm down but just then the communication brooch glowed again.
Ocean sighed and picked it up.
"Master! Master!" He heard Sylvia’s voice coming through urgently, there were more voices that were making the background chaotic.
Ocean’s eyebrows furrowed and he spoke, "I’m here, what’s wrong?"
"Master, Sol! Sol!" She shouted.
Ocean’s stomach tightened as soon as he heard that and he asked, "What happened to Sol?"
"Master, is Sol there?!" Rowan shouted.
Ocean and Roan glanced at each other and Roan walked over to him.
"No, he’s not. Is he not there?" Ocean asked.
"No, I went to his room this morning but he wasn’t there." Sylvia said.
"He must be at the Dark Elves place or at the smithy." Roan piped in.
"No, we checked everywhere. He’s not at Eldarf or anywhere around. We thought of checking the Oasis town but... you told us not to go." Sylvia said.
Ocean sighed, he was confused, why on earth was this suddenly happening? Two Dragons appeared and one disappeared.
Ocean’s eyes widened for a moment before he stood up pushing the chair behind.
"Hey, where-" Roan asked but Ocean was already leaving the office.
Roan couldn’t understand what to do so he rushed behind Ocean.
"Hey, where are you going?!" He shouted as he ran behind Ocean.
Ocean didn’t respond, as he walked towards the end of the hallway and down the stairs towards the parlor where the two Dragons were.
Ocean pushed the doors open and stepped in making the maids who were serving the two Dragons flinch in shock.
Roan came to a skidding stop behind Ocean and looked inside to see everyone but the two Dragons and Enora seeming paled.
"Enora, take everyone and get out." Ocean spoke in a calm, composed voice.
Enora looked once between Ocean and then the two Dragons before she bowed and then gestured for everyone else to leave.
Ocean stepped inside as everyone else stepped out and then closed the door.
"What’s wrong? Why’d you send them all out?" Caelthir asked.
"This thing is tasty, I want more." Isyrrha said holding up a strawberry tart slice.
Ocean glanced once at her and then at Caelthir whose smile made Ocean’s hackles rise.
"I have a question for you two." Ocean spoke and Isyrrha who was busy stuffing her mouth looked at him.
"What is it?"
Caelthir also relaxed a little, his robe sliding from his shoulder making Ocean narrow his eyes.
"You two fought in the war with the demons, right?" Ocean started.
Isyrrha stopped eating and then turned to Ocean with a serious expression.
"Do you two happen to know a Dragon named Sol?"
Isyrrha tilted her head slightly, "Sol?"
Caelthir’s lips thinned though, "Quite insolent, aren’t you, youngest? Calling someone of that stature with such a lousy nickname."
"That’s the name he gave me." Ocean spoke.
"It’s an honorable name." Caelthir immediately replied making Ocean sigh.
"So, you know him." Ocean confirmed, "Where is he? Did one of you see him?"
"What are you even talking about?" Isyrrha asked.
Ocean sighed and explained about Sol to them.
"He has golden hair and golden eyes, he is around this tall." Ocean brought his hand up to his hip.
"And is the most adorable kid you ever see."
Caelthir almost scoffed while Isyrrha frowned.
"Golden hair and golden eyes... There’s no young Dragon who looks like that... Only one." Her eyes turned towards Caelthir who sighed.
"Yes, that’s him." He confirmed and her jaw dropped before she snapped her head to Ocean.
"Hey! How dare you call him a child?! He’s older than you and what the hell are you talking about, he’s tall, taller than you and a very great presence!" Isyrrha ranted making Ocean massage his temples.
"I... understand you know him, but he’s been living with us for a while and he’s suddenly disappeared, everyone’s worried. I must know if you have any idea where he went." Ocean spoke.
"Why did you think about asking us about his whereabouts?" Caelthir asked.
"He’s gone since last night and you two weren’t quite secretive with your Presence so, I thought you might be the reason he left."
"Only that?" Caelthir asked, eyes glinting with something sinister.
Ocean’s eyes narrowed, "And I sensed Kin Caelthir leaving the mansion last night. I didn’t give it any thought at that time but I must ask now. Where did you go?"
Caelthir smiled looking like a satisfied feline.
"You’re right." He said, "I went to see him."
Ocean’s calm fractured only for a fraction before he asked, "And?"
"He was leaving."
"Why?"
"Because that’s how it’s supposed to be."
Ocean frowned, "What do you mean?"
"You met him?!" Isyrrha butted in, in that moment glaring at Caelthir. "Why didn’t you tell me? I wanted to see him too!"
"You didn’t even sense his presence in the first place, Isyrrha." Caelthir spoke nonchalantly before turning his gaze on Ocean.
"And... I can’t answer all your questions for your own good." Caelthir told Ocean making his jaw clench.
"Why?" Ocean asked sounding desperate before he forced himself to calm down and then asked, "At least tell me where Sol went?"
Caelthir remained silent for a moment before he pushed himself off of the sofa and walked over to Ocean.
He placed his hand over Ocean’s shoulder standing a head taller than him, his silver eyes gleaming down onto Ocean. He slowly lowered his head making his lips brush against Ocean’s ear.
"You are bound, child. So, you don’t know a lot. I can only tell you this much that, Dragons will be on the move now. And the war that happened a thousand years ago, will happen again."
Ocean’s eyes widened and Caelthir stepped back with a smile.
"He," Caelthir spoke, "has gone ahead to carry out his duty now that it has come to this point."
Ocean clenched his fists, eyes burning with barely controlled fury, "You saw him, didn’t you? How could you let him go in that state?"
Caelthir tilted his head, amused.
"You are really deeming him to be weak enough to need your protection? You are truly delusional, child."
Ocean didn’t take an offense in this as much as his tone was grating his nerves. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Where did he go?" Ocean asked.
Caelthir threw his hands up at that, "Not telling you."
Ocean was one step away from grabbing him by the collar and demanding but Isyrrha stepped in.
"Stop it, you two." She snapped.
She then turned to Caelthir with a scowl, "And Caelthir! You should have told me about it, I didn’t sense his presence but it’s been so long since we saw him. I... couldn’t see Kin Aeltharos but I at least wanted to see him!"
Caelthir’s eyes softened and he placed his hand over her head brushing her hair but she slapped it away.
"Don’t act patronizing!" She shouted making him sigh.
"Kin Caelthir," Ocean spoke making the two Dragons look at him.
"Pray tell me, where did Sol go?"
Caelthir’s eyebrows twitched and he appeared a little irritated.
"Address him properly, brat." Isyrrha chided.
"Calling him Sol..." Caelthir sighed, "he really spoiled you a lot."
Ocean frowned, and Caelthir jabbed his finger in Ocean’s chest.
"Listen now, youngest. The next time you meet him, you must get on your knees and bow you head to him. And apologise for acting rudely to him."
Ocean was at a loss for words.
Caelthir saw the clueless expression and shook his head.
"You still don’t understand? The presence you so insolently keep calling so casually is above us all Dragons." Isyrrha spoke placing her hand on Ocean’s shoulder.
"Hah?"
Caelthir then looked at him with a serious expression.
"Youngest," he spoke, "the one you have been treating casually till now is our leader, our Liege, Dragon God... Solcarion."
