THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS - Chapter 209: Make Up Your Mind
Jason stared in confusion at the man who seemed not to have noticed him but was more concerned about his niece.
A tug from Elvis by his side reminded him that his niece was being carried away and he hurried after them completely leaving the little guy behind to catch up with him.
Elvis had no choice but to break into a run when his short legs couldn’t keep up with his uncle’s long strides.
The head teacher was filled with concern when she noticed that President Hudson, the special guest, was still accompanying the child to the clinic in wet clothes, and out of her goodwill made a harmless suggestion.
"Sir, you might also need to change your clothes."
Without even bothering to slow his pace for a second, Shawn’s already cold expression turned several degrees colder and even the people that didn’t get into the pool felt more cold than him that was dripping with water.
Is she kidding him? Stop to change clothes at this moment? Hell no!
When he recalled the scene of the girl’s little hands swaying frantically above the water and her beautiful eyes that had widened in fright as she cried for help, he felt a tight constriction in his throat.
"Hurry the hell up and stop being bothered by superfluous details." he ordered in a voice that made even the teacher that was carrying Eleanor almost drop her in fright. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
The aura emanating from President Hudson was way too terrifying. He was the exact version of what they have heard about him.
At that point the head teacher regretted having a tongue at all, because if she didn’t have one, she wouldn’t have spoken.
If one didn’t know, they would think he was a father who was too worried about his daughter’s well being than his own
Thinking along this line, she suddenly remembered that the little girl also had a brother that seemed to look like President Hudson.
Could it be that he was their father? She also recalled the scene at the gate where the girl had given President Hudson a kiss and instead of the storm they had expected to follow, there was a rather calming smile.
With each revelation the head teacher felt her world was gradually closing in around her.
She couldn’t bring herself to imagine what would have happened if anything had happened to the girl.
She could only offer a silent prayer of thanksgiving to God that she was rescued in time.
She didn’t know when they got to the clinic but only became aware of her surroundings when the nurse instructed that only family members and the head teacher were allowed in.
Even though he was not a family member, no one had the guts to stop Shawn, who was still dripping with water and didn’t care about his image at this time from entering the clinic.
Even Cheryl who had followed the nurse ahead of others was not allowed inside. It was when Jason arrived, closely followed by a breathless Elvis a few seconds after Shawn had gone inside that he introduced himself as Eleanor’s uncle who had come to represent their mother that they allowed him inside.
"Uncle," Elvis called out to him when he saw that his uncle was about going in without him.
"You can’t come in with me. Stay here with Cheryl and I’ll go and see how Eleanor is doing first."
"OK, uncle," Elvis reluctantly agreed, even though he wanted very much to be there with his sister.
Their friends Graham and Sophia caught up with him at the entrance of the hospital just when he was feeling lonely.
Because of what had happened at the swimming pool, the remaining activities had to be cancelled giving Graham and Sophia the opportunity to come look for the siblings.
"How is Eleanor?" Graham asked, his tone filled with worry.
"My uncle has gone in to check on her."
"She will be fine," Sophia comforted just as she has always seen grown ups do when someone was sick or sad about a loved one.
"Thanks Sophia," he said as he crossed his two hands behind his back and started pacing about.
Mr Johnson, who had just returned with a fresh set of suit for his boss, saw this scene and almost passed out from shock.
’Am I still alive or I’ve been teleported into the past? Why am I seeing the boss when he was still a child?’
He brought out his phone and checked the calendar and saw that it was the same date and year that he had woken up into.
He looked around and found out that he was still in the kindergarten where he had accompanied the boss for a sports event.
Even the set of clothings he has brought for his boss to change into was lying there on the ground where he had dropped it from shock.
That means he was not in the past but the present.
Then who is this little guy that looks exactly like the boss in everything?
If he didn’t know the boss to be faithful to his wife even after she disappeared for over six years, he would have thought that the guy before him was his boss’s illegitimate son.
How can two people look so much alike in this world.
"Hello child," he called gently and was almost immobilized when the guy turned to glare at him with the same expression his boss would have had if he considered you a disturbance.
When Elvis saw that the man had nothing important to say, he resumed his pacing, completely ignoring the strange man.
After Johnson recovered from the second shock, he approached the little guy again.
"Excuse me," he began. "I, em, what, can you.."
Elvis’s lips turned up in a smirk as he studied the man who was obviously making a fool of himself. "Can you make up your mind on what to say before disturbing my peace? As you can see, I have so much on my mind right now."
