But now he couldn’t change it, and there was nothing to undo his previous mistake.

The numbers on the status window had already settled, and he couldn’t change that.

For a second, irritation flickered in his eyes before he closed the screen with a wave of his hand.

Complaining now would achieve absolutely nothing, not when it was his mistake in the first place.

So he decided to focus on what was ahead of him, and that was—

The four goblin corpses lying across the floor, along with their foul stench, spread throughout the entire living room.

The room had already begun to smell, making him slightly wrinkle his nose.

‘Should I devour them?’ he asked himself again, hesitating all of a sudden.

He had just seen what the memories did to him, and what they would’ve done if he hadn’t increased his will at the last moment.

Without that boost, the flood of instincts might have overwhelmed him completely.

It wouldn’t have just destroyed him, but also Lia and Seraphina, who had been right beside him.

If by chance…

Even by a small, tiny chance, if he had lost to his instincts…

Just thinking about it made him shudder.

But—

Just leaving the corpses over here like this was also stupid.

They would rot, they would stink, and their smell might attract more monsters.

And more importantly—

He needed Attribute Points right now.

Lucian stood there silently for a few seconds, staring at the nearest goblin corpse.

His thoughts flashed again.

At the memories, the rotten taste of the rat flesh, the hunger, the crude instincts.

Anger, Annoyance, Rage, and… Lust.

All of these thoughts were stopping him from taking a step ahead.

Finally—

“Fuck it…” he cursed himself again.

“Why the heck am I hesitating so much?” he asked himself, his voice carrying annoyance and frustration, like he was complaining to himself.

Lucian felt irritated at his own hesitation.

He wanted to scold himself for being such a pussy.

Monsters were out there, people were dying… and here he was.

Arguing with himself over a few corpses.

He took a deep breath, then walked towards one of the corpses and placed his hand over it, letting his skill do the rest of the work.𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

[You have devoured a goblin.]

[You have obtained 1 Attribute Point.]

Lucian barely reacted to the notification popping before his eyes.

He simply moved to the second corpse.

Again—

[You have devoured a goblin.]

[You have obtained 1 Attribute Point.]

And again—

[You have devoured a goblin.]

[You have obtained 1 Attribute Point.]

[You have obtained the skill: Night Vision.]

Lucian blinked slowly, feeling a slight itch in his eyes, before the sensation vanished completely.

The room brightened slightly, as if the shadows had brightened inside.

But rather than thinking too much about it, he soon moved to the last goblin.

[You have devoured a goblin.]

[You have obtained 1 Attribute Point.]

Lucian stood up, looking at the still messy room once again.

The floor still had bloodstains. There was the table too, its edge slightly splintered after he had slammed the goblin’s head against it.

Lucian rubbed the back of his neck slightly.

“At least no corpses,” he mumbled to himself quietly.

The smell in the room had already improved slightly—just slightly.

After devouring all of them, he focused on the skill he just obtained.

A small system window appeared.

[Night Vision]

– See clearly in darkness.

Lucian tilted his head slightly.

“That’s it, huh…” he muttered, seeing the small and simple description.

He was slightly disappointed, because he didn’t feel that much worth from this skill after going through that stupid and disgusting memory, along with this stupid, horny, teenage hormonal behaviour.

But still, the skill was undeniably useful.

Especially considering the plan forming in his mind.

He rubbed his chin slightly.

“…Mana and Charm,” he muttered, looking at his status again.

Mana – 16

Charm – 18

Attribute Points (AP) – 4

These two attributes were currently lagging behind the others.

“Put 2 points in Charm and the rest in Mana.”

Soon, the numbers changed.

Charm and mana increased—both by 2 points.

He looked at his status window again.

His charm had become 20, the peak limit for F rank, but his mana attribute was still lacking by 2 more points to reach the maximum stat cap for his current rank.

He thought about going out, since he could easily devour more monsters, but—

“Yeah, let’s not do that right now.”

Lucian wasn’t stupid.

Power brought attention.

And right now—

He didn’t want to gain too much attention by killing the monsters right and left, like they were ants in a field.

It was easy for him to kill such monsters, and that was exactly the problem.

If someone saw him like that, then it would gather too much attention among the folks, and many people—panic-stricken survivors might gather around him, as if he were their messiah, which he clearly wasn’t.

And he had no interest in becoming one.

He had no intention of sharing his food, shelter, or protection with anyone else other than his mother and sister—at least unless it wasn’t necessary.

So he thought about using his previous strategy again.

Going out at night.

It would be easier to stay anonymous, especially after getting the skill Night Vision.

Still—

Even though the plan was clearly formed in his mind, he didn’t immediately go back to the basement.

His body still hadn’t calmed down, and more importantly—

The window was still broken.

Lucian looked around the living room briefly.

He didn’t have any wooden planks to close the opening.

After thinking for a while, he turned toward the dining room.

Stepping inside the dining room, he immediately approached the large wooden dining table standing in the center.

Without wasting time, he began removing everything from it, along with the tablecloth.

Picking the table, which was very easy for him to do with his increased strength, he carried it into the living room without much difficulty.

Positioning it near the broken window, he turned it sideways, blocking the opening.

To reinforce it, he dragged the couch directly in front of it.

Now the table was pressed tightly between the sofa and the wall.

Completely reinforced.

Even if something outside tried to climb through the window, it would struggle to push both obstacles aside.

Lucian crossed his arms slightly, examining his work.

“Unless some E rank monster doesn’t come here,” he muttered quietly.

“I think this’ll do for now.”

Lucian walked down the hallway toward his room.

He was exhausted right now, and he wanted to rest for a while.

He wasn’t thinking about sleeping.

He just wanted to lie down for a bit, trying to ignore the lingering heat in his body. It had decreased a little, but it was still present inside him.

Lying on his bed, he placed one arm over his forehead.

He took deep breaths, focusing on his breathing and nothing else.

Trying to clear his mind.

The room was silent.

But he could still hear the faint screams from outside, which he decided to ignore for now.

As he lay there, another thought drifted into his mind unexpectedly.

‘The mattress smells like mother,’ he thought absentmindedly.

The room was also where his Seraphina slept, and the faint, gentle scent of her.

A soft, familiar fragrance that lingered within the sheets.

Lucian’s eyes widened instantly as he shook his head again and again.

He sat up abruptly.

‘I’m going crazy…’ he thought, covering his face with both his hands.

He really wanted to do something about this.

Soon, he went to the bathroom and sat on a small stool beneath the shower.

He closed his eyes as cold water dripped down on his body.

The cold water sent a sharp chill through his entire body, but he didn’t mind that.

He closed his eyes.

The heat in his body began fading.

Minutes passed.

Even though his body still carried traces of that earlier lust—

He refused to act on it.

He refused to masturbate even after feeling this much lust.

He didn’t know exactly why, but he felt like it was too low for him to do that.

And he refused to act on the instincts of a lowly goblin.

Even when Akasha casually mentioned earlier that it was fine—

That it would help release the tension—

He still refused.

His pride was too great for his own good, even if his stubbornness made things harder.

After almost thirty minutes in the cold shower, his body cooled down.

The leftover instincts were decreasing, and his high Will attribute had finally begun showing its effect.

Lucian opened his eyes. The cold water had completely cleared his mind.

He stood up, stepped out of the bathroom, and put on a fresh new set of clothes.

Once everything was done, he closed the windows and curtains perfectly.

Then did the same throughout the house.

Closed the windows, pulled the curtains, and checked the locks.

Every precaution mattered now.

He didn’t want anyone to enter their house right now.

Monster or human.

By the time he finished, his body had completely calmed down, but he still didn’t go upstairs immediately.

He stood near the basement entrance for a moment, his hand resting on the metallic door handle.

He wanted to go right now, but he hesitated slightly.

After a moment, he turned away and walked towards the bedroom again.

He grabbed a suitcase and began gathering their clothes, bringing them along with him, only taking the necessary items they might need right now.

‘I’m becoming too much of a coward,’ he thought to himself, as he was just circling before the metallic door in the gym.

He had been doing this for a minute.

Finally, he got his resolve and went in.

The door opened with a loud noise as he went downstairs, along with a suitcase that held all of their clothes, at least the ones he thought were important.

‘If they need anything more, then it’s not that much of a deal anyway,’ he thought calmly.

If both of them needed anything else, then he could just go upstairs and bring it to them.

He stepped into the basement, already planning what to do next.
