Survival of the Nation: I Can Specify the Items That Will Drop
Chapter 302: Sylvia
Lin Feng stepped into the light screen, and the sensation beneath his feet changed from bone fragments to hard stone slabs.
Silver-white magic light spilled from the ceiling, casting a cold glow over the entire Underground Plaza.
The plaza was quiet, with no wandering Shadow Assassins, only twelve black stone pillars standing there in silence.
Tie Dun emerged from the light screen, his shield held across his chest. He scanned the plaza warily and let out a sigh of relief, lowering his shield once he confirmed there was no threat.
Zhao Hu followed behind Tie Dun, his bone-crushing greatsword hanging at his waist, his steady gaze sweeping across the plaza's surroundings.
"We've cleared several rounds around the perimeter of the fifth floor these past few days. We've figured out all the Shadow Assassins' hiding spots. With Ye Lan leading the way and us following to finish them off, not a single one escaped."
Lin Feng nodded.
Tie Dun leaned in and lowered his voice: "The way Ye Lan handles those Shadow Assassins is incredibly efficient. When those assassins use stealth, Ye Lan uses stealth too."
"When those assassins try to flank, Ye Lan flanks even faster than them. Several times, I didn't even see how she fought before the enemy's health bar just vanished."
"To put it bluntly, those assassins are like toddlers learning to walk in front of her."
Zhao Hu glanced at him but didn't respond.
Lin Feng smiled, scanned the plaza to confirm there were no threats, and then walked toward the far end of the plaza.
The black stone doors of the grand hall loomed larger in his vision. On the pointed arch of the lintel, an emblem of a dagger piercing a waning moon cast a heavy shadow under the silver-white light.
Five-meter-tall statues on either side of the stone doors knelt on one knee, their twin blades crossed over their chests and their heads bowed low, as if paying respects to the person behind the doors.
The team stopped five meters in front of the stone doors.
Before Lin Feng could even reach out to push them, the stone doors opened automatically.
Without a sound or a tremor, the black stone doors slid open to both sides like two thin screens, revealing the dark space inside the grand hall.
The grand hall was even more magnificent than the plaza.
The ceiling reached eighty meters high, with dark crystals embedded in it like stars in the night sky, shedding a cold white glimmer.
Deep within the hall, a high platform rose ten meters from the ground. The base was carved from a single piece of massive black stone, its edges engraved with intricate runes.
Atop the platform, a stone chair stood alone. The chair was simple, lacking any ornate decorations.
On both sides of the hall, a stone pillar stood every ten meters, their surfaces carved with scenes of assassins in battle.
Hiding in shadows, sudden Backstabs, flying blades piercing throats... every image was lifelike, as if those assassins might step out from the pillars at any moment.
"This place has a pretty heavy yin energy," Tie Dun muttered, raising his shield slightly higher.
Lin Feng didn't stop. He led the team into the hall, his Wildfire Spear held in his hand.
The moment they entered the hall, a translucent phantom slowly solidified on the stone chair atop the high platform.
She was tall, with a mask covering half her face, leaving only a pair of ghostly green eyes visible. In each hand, she held a short blade, their edges shimmering with a purple poisonous light.
Her body was translucent, and the stone chair behind her was faintly visible through her, making her look like a mass of solidified smoke.
【Shadow Assassin · Sylvia · Lv35 · Rare Boss】
"Intruders..." Her voice was raspy, like wind blowing through dried leaves, echoing in the vast hall. "Disturbing the resting... die."
As soon as she finished speaking, her form suddenly dissipated, turning into a wisp of black smoke that merged into the air.
【Shadow Lurk】 — Automatically enters stealth before combat begins, lasting 10 seconds. The first attack deals 150% damage.
"Scatter!" Lin Feng barked. He thrust the Wildfire Spear into the ground — Beacon Fire Prairies. A ring of fire expanded around him, but it didn't touch any targets.
Tie Dun looked left and right with his shield raised, sweat breaking out on his forehead: "Where is she? I can't see her!"
A Wang and Scarface Liu raised their shields to protect Su Yurou.
Wang Wu and Arrow Eye stood back-to-back, arrows already notched. Both were second promotion Wind Falcon Rangers; their vision was thirty percent wider than average, allowing them to capture even the slightest glimmer in a corner.
But right now, the entire hall looked empty to them. Forget Sylvia's figure—they couldn't even catch a hint of her presence.
Wang Wu frowned slightly and lowered his voice: "I can't see her. Her agility and strength far exceed ours."
Arrow Eye didn't answer, he only pulled his bowstring even tighter.
Eagle Eye could see through stealth, but they remembered the small text clearly: if the target's combined agility and strength were higher than one's own, the detection would be ineffective.
Sylvia's attributes were clearly not at a level they could touch.
Jiang Yelan's figure vanished from the edge of the team, silently slipping into the shadows of the hall.
As a fellow assassin, she knew how to deal with stealth.
Lin Feng closed his eyes, and the perception granted by his high attributes spread outward.
Thirty meters to his front-left, there was a minute disturbance in the airflow.
He snapped his eyes open, and three crimson spear lights condensed at the tip of his spear — 【Blazing Spear Light】!
The three spear lights shot toward the front-left in a triangular formation.
The air distorted, and Sylvia's figure was forced to appear as she dodged fifty meters to the right — 【Flash】 was activated, and her stealth automatically failed.
"So fast." Lin Feng felt a slight chill in his heart, but his body had already leaped into the air, flying toward Sylvia.
Sylvia's speed was extreme, leaving a trail of afterimages in the air as she crossed her twin blades and slashed at Lin Feng.
The two collided in mid-air. The Wildfire Spear clashed with the twin blades, sparks flying everywhere as the clanging sounds rang out as [N O V E L I G H T] fast as falling rain.
Fifty meters high in the air, the two were locked in combat, their blade flashes and spear shadows weaving into a blur.
Sylvia's agility was on par with Lin Feng's, but her strength and constitution were a level below his.
When her attacks hit Lin Feng, they were all parried, and the damage to his health bar was negligible.
When Lin Feng thrust his spear, she slid past it; when he swept the spear, she flipped to avoid it, doing her best to avoid a direct confrontation with him.
This was because her probability of blocking Lin Feng's attacks was not high, and once she was hit, it would result in massive damage.
"If I stall a bit longer, she'll eventually show a flaw."
Lin Feng remained calm and unhurried, using each thrust of his spear to force her into an opening.
Below, Wang Wu and Arrow Eye tried to provide long-range support, but Sylvia was moving at high speeds in the air, making it very difficult for normal ranged attacks to hit.
Arrow Eye fired two arrows, both of which were dodged. Wang Wu's heavy arrow did force her to dodge once, but it only grazed past her.
Tie Dun looked up until his neck felt sore: "This woman is slipperier than a loach."
Zhao Hu said in a heavy voice: "Someone needs to pin her down so the Lord can find an opportunity."
Just as he finished speaking, a black shadow shot out from the shadow of one of the hall's stone pillars—it was Jiang Yelan!
She had already climbed the stone pillars on the side of the hall, using the shadows to approach Sylvia's flank.
No one had noticed her; even Sylvia had all her attention drawn by Lin Feng's frontal assault.
【Shadow Flash】! Jiang Yelan's figure instantly vanished from the top of the stone pillar and reappeared five meters to Sylvia's left—the special effect of the shadow moon blade, which allowed her to teleport to any location within fifty meters of the target, with a 60-second cooldown.
Sylvia sensed the fluctuation in the air to her left.
Shadow energy condensed on her left short blade, and an arc-shaped flying blade shot out — 【Phantom Flying Blade】!
The arc of shadow energy sliced through the air, aimed straight for Jiang Yelan's face.
Jiang Yelan's form blurred once again — 【Shadow Step】!
